Gucci_Milan%20fashion%20week.JPGI was blown away by Frida Giannini's spring Gucci collection. It reminded me a lot of Gottex, with its fabulous designs and colors mostly in yellow, black and white with splashes of hot pink. Her ultra-mod '50s-updated big skirt, jacket, and belt ensembles (left) almost had me drooling and instantly shriek--I want that! The evening gowns are just to die for, most with one-shoulder strap, but all in such intricate, elegant designs in fresh, urbane patterns that I can totally picture myself donning at a posh charity ball--(sigh) if only... Check out more on the show after the jump.

fall%20sweaters.JPGThose chilly fall days aren't here, yet, (hey, I'm not complaining!) but they will be soon, so here are some great daytime sweaters to wear to the office, shopping, lunch with friends--anywhere not too fancy. This first pick is a BB Dakota cable-knit tunic (left) for just $36.90. It looks chic with jeans with or without a long-sleeve tee underneath, and can even be worn as a dress with black or charcoal tights.

Lauren Merkin's Emma shopper bag

ES2S720-BLK_FULL.jpg
I love Lauren Merkin's Emma Shopper bag. It's perfect for running around all day--school, work, babies, etc. It's even large enough to fit a laptop if necessary. Each bag features her signature printed cotton lining, outside pocket and interior zip. Priced at $495, this lambskin beauty comes in emerald, tobasco, ink, platinum and black (pictured). Lauren Merkin styles grace the arm of many celebs including Famke Janssen, Sarah Jessica Parker, Eva Longoria and more!

H%26M_5th%20Ave%20grand%20opening.JPG
Yesterday marked the grand opening of H&M's newest Manhattan location at the corner of 42nd St. and 5th Avenue. Complete with a red carpet and velvet ropes around the block, the store was packed with eager shoppers. H&M's fall collection included lots of grays (it is the new black, you know...), but plenty of color too, chic cropped jackets, and tons of sparkle and shine--from scarves and hats to purses to leggings and dresses. Two-stories of fabulous fashion goodness and I couldn't resist getting in on the action. Go to the jump to see some of my essential fall picks.

diane%20von%20furstenberg.jpg
With the season's runway looks of basic black-and-white ensembles, masculine influences, and plenty of minidresses to demand that you stock up on cozy, textured tights--there's no better way to capture the look than with a tuxedo--dress, that is. Diane von Furstenberg brings us yet another eye-catching collection of wrap dresses, jersey styles with longer sleeves, and even frock-style numbers such as this pretty taffeta dress for a little extra swing in your step.

Actual top models: Who ranked first of fashion week?

top%20models%20of%20fashion%20week.jpg

As if modelling wasn't competative enough, New York Magazine has put the tally everyone's been keeping in their heads on the printed page with their Model Tracker. Catherine McNeil and Chanel Iman, above, both made the list, while Russian beauty Irina Kulikova "won" fashion week by participating in more than 20 shows. Chanel was the only American on the list, opening and closing for Custo Barcelona. She also strutted for Heatherette, L.A.M.B., JustSweet, Vera, and Alexander Wang. Busy girl! But no one was busier than those Brazilians - Raquel Zimmermann and Flavia de Oliveira both made the list.

Victoria Beckham: travel & fashion

Comments (1)

Victoria Beckham was spotted at Tokoyo airport the other day before hopping an early plane back to London when being informed that her father-in-law Ted Beckham suffered a heart attack. Victoria is always lookin' major hot, but especially here in tight jeans, a tailored jacket, cashmere scarf and her legendary platform heels. I would expect her to be traveling in a Juicy sweatsuit and Pumas! I know she's a highly photographed celeb but the my question is--is she comfortable? What if there was an emergency? Could she make it down the aisle in those shoes? The truth is, people just dont bother dressing up anymore when traveling, so when you see travelers all dolled up--it's impressive!

Steven Alan ruffled panties

Fergie-%20panties.jpg
Fergie has these panties, you say? These Steven Alan ruffle panties are peppy and playful, yet sexy and innocent at the same time. They’re 100% cotton, super comfortable and perfect under a skirt when you’re afraid you might flash someone--get your own pair for $38. I’m getting into the whole 'more is really more' thing when it comes to my unmentionables and I’m starting to think that my collection of G-strings may be put into retirement soon if I keep finding cute and sexy full panties like these!

Leighton.jpg
Check out Leighton Meester's dazzling dress on the black carpet at the premiere of "Gossip Girl." The print is very flattering, and I love all that shine. I'm sure she's not as bitchy in real life as she is on the show, but this dress goes perfectly with her Blair character--wicked hot! The dress is Oxford Couture and will be available for purchase in mid-October for $440 at urbanchiconline.com.

promote_costume_trap_200x155.jpgThis was my favorite episode of "Tim Gunn's Guide to Style." Tim and Veronica took a pediatrician with a very young attitude and made her all grown up! Stephanie from New York was very much into Care Bears and toys, and horizontal (gasp!) striped dresses that made her petite frame look akin to an 11-year-old (and they were just scary). She was looking for a new look for an ex-boyfriend's wedding that was fast approaching. Tim helped her find dresses and skirts that elongated her legs so she appeared taller, had her pick new eyeglass frames that enhanced her face and chose dresses that made her look and feel sexy and confident. Tim advised three accessories one should always have. They are a great watch--nothing too gimmicky--I love Cartier; a decent handbag (I'll take any bag, really, but I love the Coach totes), and classic black or brown pumps in leather (surprisingly, my latest pair is from Mandee's, for $48, a happy bargain).

The sweater dress is a great transitional piece moving from fall into winter. Paired with opaque tights and heels, the look can be described best as sexy-warm. Body-hugging while still being covered up, the sweater dress is good for work or a night out. The gray dress above, worn by a model at the Hamptons Magazine hosted party in Southampton, is from Celine's fall/winter 2007 collection. For a cheaper, but just as stylish sweater-dress, continue reading.

fall%20capes.JPGThe cape is huge this season, and a great fall must-have for all those chilly, but-not-yet-freezing days. So, I've come up with a selection of chic styles to keep you fashionably cozy. The first two, above, are lighter designs to wear now through mid-fall. The cape on the left, is a cute and comfy Echo buttoned-down chunky capelet for $98. I really like the big, bold buttons and the over-sized, folded-over turtleneck. On the right is the adorable Portolano ruffle-edge cape for $250. A bit more expensive, but the ruffles and horn-shaped toggle buttons are so sweet, I couldn't resist. Check out more, warmer-styled capes at the jump.

Ruby%20Rox%20little%20black%20dress.JPGThis Ruby Rox jewel-detail dress is a great find for the season--just $43.90! The jewel accents are very on trend as far as a touch of shine goes for fall and winter. And I really like the light layering at the bottom--that and the longer cut in the back create elegant appeal. So go ahead, look stunning for those special occasions in this sexy, but classy little black dress.

Chloe tops at Net-a-Porter

Chloe%20net%20a%20porter.jpg

If a $3,000 Chloe coat isn't in your budget, maybe these $600-$1500 tops/dresses are? Maybe? Even if it's just fantasy, perusing the new Chloe arrivals at Net-a-Porter proved enjoyable. These selections have the frothy, boho feel but with a more grown-up, fashion-forward sensibility, which is nice foreshadowing for spring. Both the vibrant colors and the soft gray are on trend and will enrich a wardrobe of basics. Click over the jump for details on each item.
