Good news for YSL lovers! Despite rumors that Italian-born designer Stefano Pilati was considering leaving Yves Saint Laurent parent Gucci Group for another label (possibly Valentino), it has been confirmed through a new multi-year contract that he will remain as creative director. Stefano Pilati will oversee the brand and be in charge of all product categories.
Find out all the hottest fall trends with this video interview and Want It! photo shoot on YouTube with the Women’s director of fashion for Saks Fifth Avenue, Michael Fink. This fall and winter are all about looking poised, polished and put-together–very body conscious, Fink says. It’s all about pretty pumps, precise tailoring, plush knitwear, and the perfect handbag. Long and lean suiting showing off your curves is the look of the season with the one-inch skinny as the must-have belt.
Lately, I’ve been feeling the need to dress up a little more. Nothing too crazy, but I’ve been feeling like I’m kind of in a fashion slump and I think the best way to cure some fashion laziness is to put on a new fall dress. This luxurious dress by Amanda Uprichard comes in three sparking jewel-toned hues and is 100% silk. The $201 dress comes in red, teal and navy, and would be fantastic paired with black tights or worn with bare legs and some killer Mary Janes.
Retail site Shopbop.com is offering huge markdowns on designer goods, as reported by TheBudgetFashionista.com. Items are organized by percentage off, from thirty-percent off to seventy-percent off. In the seventy-percent pile, you’ve got a Marc by Marc Jacobs striped cover-up for $80 and an AKA New York print lace-front mini dress, originally $338 on sale for $101.
From Jimmy Choo’s fall/winter 2007 collection, I find this shoe irresistible. Named, Sing, this leather open-toe shoe makes me want to sing with happiness at the sexiness of it. Great in the office or out to a cozy bar, its suede with watersnake trim and cute peep-toe design complement any fall wardrobe. Go ahead- treat yourself!! Sing retails for $575.00
She is 40 years with 2 kids and has graced the cover of over 500 magazines–supermodel Cindy Crawford is still drop dead gorgeous! Here she is on Tuesday night at Cedar Lake, a hot new NYC nightclub celebrating Hearst Magazine’s 30 Days of Fashion party. Shortly after she attended GQ’s 50th Anniversary event honoring Kanye West. She is radiant in a silver micro-mini dress, dogtag and matching pumps proving again that metallics are still perfect for making an evening statement. And if you want to live like her in addition to dressing like her, check out her current collection of home designs at Raymour & Flanigan.
Now that ’70s-inspired outfits and ensembles are making us flash forward into fall, the season’s latest must-have dresses include bold prints with splashes of brown, orange, and red. With temperatures dropping, it can be hard to find a dress that will keep you warm and comfortable without resorting to a coverup or shawl that ruins the outfit. This Emilio Pucci Quadratini print turtleneck dress offers just enough coverage to give you that cozy feeling with a mock turtleneck and 100% rayon construction.

Last Saturday, James Perse opened his eighth retail location on Canon Drive in Beverly Hills forecasting that this area will soon be the hottest shopping destination for young shoppers. With a mission to “grow the upscale luxury component of his business” the 4,500-square-foot store required a $70 million investment, the company’s largest retail budget ever. The Canon Drive space will carry an exclusive group of monochromatic pieces from his newest collections.
Just in time for fall, the new collection of Gallery Totes from Coach are super stylish. Perfect for work or dinner at a classy restaurant, these totes are big enough to carry all your essentials in sophisticated fashion. My favorite is the red Gallery leather laced tote. There’s just something about a bright red tote that screams “too hot to handle!” But they also come in a variety of colors and designs–from signature design to black or tobacco leather to north-south style.
In celebration of their new west coast location, Intermix on Roberston in Los Angeles is offering a $50 break when spending $350 or more. The deal ends September 30th so you better hurry! Just speak the words “I love LA” to the sales associate and like magic she will remove $50! Intermix is a trend mecca best known for their unbelievable collection of designers- from Matthew Williamson, Catherine Malandrino, Herve Leger, Miss Davenport, Stella McCartney, Theory and more. And if you can’t make it to California, check out one of their other 13 locations including 3 in NY and get shopping!
I just got my new InStyle Magazine for October with Katherine Heigl on the cover. Just when I thought she couldn’t look any more gorgeous, I opened the cover to see a second cover with Katherine Heigl in an updo. Then I turned the page, and there was a third cover with Katherine Heigl in a Katie Holmes-esque brunette bob. See how she got all three of these looks over on ShinyGloss.
I originally saw these fabulous T-strap sandals featured in Lucky and I immediately needed to own them. The chic, barely-there sandals have an elasticized heel strap and almost completely flat bottom that makes them not only comfortable but also, quite the bargain at $10 (marked down from $15). I know it’s getting a little late in the season for sandals, but I promise you that these are well worth your $10 bill because these, my friend, will remain a staple in your summer wardrobe. Buy them now in either white, silver, gold or black patent leather because they’re actually back ordered and won’t even ship until November!
In the latest “Tim Gunn’s Guide to Style”, Tim and Veronica help out a married mom of two, Nicole, to take time for herself and dress with confidence. Nicole seemed to think she was flabby (not so!) Tim made Nicole toss out all her capri pants, which were her ‘uniform.’ Tim says a uniform is fine, provided it works for you. And for Nicole, it did not. Nicole also had a hard time taking any time for herself, even enjoying a pedicure was too much because she felt she could be doing mom-things. Tim reminded Nicole that a good foundation is needed, something I think will appear in each episode. Nicole was outfitted appropriately, and then off to Macy’s where they went to shop (Lucky!)
