American customers paying more for Kate Moss Top Shop than UK customers

The Daily Mail, a British newspaper, has reported that Barneys is marking up the price of items in Kate Moss’s Topshop collection. Flare jeans that cost £50 ($100) at Topshop cost $158 at Barneys. The Daily Mail predicts American shoppers may begin flying over to the UK for better shopping deals if this trend continues, the way UK shoppers have been hoping over to our side of the pond for years because clothing has traditionally cost less for them in America since the pound is currently stronger than the dollar.
The Daily Mail also reported, “A Topshop spokesman said they didn't have jurisdiction on prices, adding that import costs and taxes could push up US prices by almost three-and-a-half times.”
If you want to buy Kate Moss’s line without paying through the roof, try going directly through Topshop. Topshop.com offers Kate Moss’s collection for sale online, and although shipping is a bit pricey (about $20), you might save some in the end. You’ll also find more items for sale than you will on the Barneys rack.
