New Coach Legacy Boutique opens today

Coach%20logo.jpgCoach is going back to its roots with the opening of their new luxury boutique, Legacy, at 372 Bleecker Street in Manhattan. With a '40s feel to the store, shoppers peruse amidst zebra rugs sprawled out on white marble floors, chrome and glass cases with antique mirrors, and chairs designed with the new Legacy stripe fabric. Featuring the new Legacy collection, exclusive Coach products, limited editions and personalized shopping services, it sounds like the ultimate shopping experience! And of course, there aren't just handbags, but a range of luxury items from footwear to jewelry to outerwear to beauty products. A quarter of the products in the store are exclusive to the Legacy Boutique, so if you're looking for an original piece, this is the place for you. Handbags typically range from $300 for a Madison Legacy stripe clutch to $20,000 for a Bleecker alligator duffle.

Reed Krakoff, president and executive creative director of Coach Inc., came up with the idea for the Legacy collection last year while he was going through the Coach archives. Inspired by Cashin's designs from the '60s, he updated the colorful stripe print and and turn-lock closure and incorporated the designs into the new line along with using the vintage horse-drawn coach logo.

Yawn! Buying purses made by Child labor in China is not my bag!

Also a company who bans customers and their entire families for life for buying TOO MUCH at their stores has turned off many on Coach products.

I wonder if the stockholder realize that Coach has banned hundreds of buyers because they spent too much money and they suspected they must be reselling???
Gee could this be why the stock is down?? Many of the eBay re-sellers were buying thousands of dollars of merchandise from the outlets and suddenly that income is gone for Coach! How stupid is that-to turn away buying customers?
The way they do it is to totally humilate you. They wait until you come into the store to make a purchase and at the cash register will announce you are banned from every Coach store and so is every member of your family and any friend that may be purchasing for you. Do they give us a chance to defend ourself, absolutely not. Then ~3-4 month letter you get an official letter from the Loss & Prevention Dept. Unbelievable. They are treating us like criminals. Sure wish they would give the counterfeit market as much attention.
I know of a gal that buys for her entire family and friends when she comes to USA to visit and they banned her for buying too much! Now she is forced to buy off eBay.
I dumped my Coach stock and everyone else would be smart to do the same.
I would not come back to Coach if they begged me and gave me a 50% discount!

I have a question. Why did Lew and Reed dump so much their own personal Coach stock just before revenue loss was reported?

Posted by: silver.fox | October 27, 2007 12:45 AM

Yes, I would like to know the answer to that one also.
Lew & Reed fess up!
I would also like to know why you deny you sell your unwanted Coach that did not sale at the outlet to suppliers, who then sell to eBay re-sellers? I can buy a truck-load of unwanted Coach for $1,000.00-but why would I want to???

Coach is out. It is not cool to carry a Coach when everyone and their mother has a discounted one from the outlet, TJ Max or Marshall's.
Charging $20,000 for a aligator Bleeker does not make you one of the "elite" designers. Let's see how many of those bags actually sale? Hope Coach did not make more than 2.
Coach will never be up there with Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Prada, Dolce & Gabbana, Burberry, Hermes, etc NEVER!

This company is out of control they want the best of both worlds with cheap outlet stores and then try to be a luxury boutique. I am sure the overstock will end up at the outlet store in 6 weeks or so
I like where they say coach is going back to it's roots. Well I can tell you where to start the board should fire at least 10 of the top people. I love the loss prevention department. That is the department that sends out letters informing you are banned. Wow the only thing they are losing is customers buying the handbags.
Wow does that sound like a good business plan..... lets open outlet stores and full price stores with 20 miles of each other what dumb butt would pay full price for a coach bag when they know that it will be at the outlet in like 5 to 6 weeks.
