Tim Gunn's Guide to Style: Not a dry eye in the house
Wow--what a great episode tonight! When "Tim Gunn's Guide to Style" began tonight on Bravo, I was annoyed by the subject, Rebecca, 26, from Hoboken. Petite, svelte, and so very cute, she kept saying how she is so self-conscious of her curves and how she likes to cover up her body with jeans and striped tunics. She has a GREAT body, even the lingerie expert said so! And she said Rebecca has a great butt, which was too funny. So Tim took her to see someone who can help her see her inner beauty, and outer beauty! It was remarkable to see Rebecca really feel she was attractive after meeting with style coach Jared Weiss. She had loads of great advice for her, such as :
1. If you can wear a garbage bag with confidence, you can wear anything.
2. "I cannot control how I am perceived, I can only control how I am presented."
While shopping at Scoop NYC, Veronica suggested 'leggings' with one outfit, and Tim actually said, "Agghh!" and jumped. My thoughts exactly. Leggings should be banned back to '86 and never to be seen again. (shudder) Tim then asked her who her fashion inspirations were, and Rebecca liked Jessica Alba's look. After Rebecca loosened up some, I began to like her more, as she began to like herself more. She picked more clothes that showed off her great shape, especially dresses.
Fast forward to the fashion show. Right beforehand, Tim took Rebecca's husband Augie aside to give him something to give Rebecca as a gift. It was a gorgeous platinum diamond ring, designed by ice.com. When Augie gave this to his wife, he told her to always remember this moment and to be herself. He was proud of her, and so glad she was proud of herself as well. And no one could stop the tears welling after that. Of course Tim had to pretend to adjust his glasses.
Later, Tim and Veronica checked in with Rebecca and Augie during their Mexican vacation, where she took their advice, wore dresses, makeup and smiles with confidence! Ahhhh. All is well in the House of Tim.
