Fifth Avenue H&M Roberto Cavalli collection

The H&M at the corner of Fifth Avenue and 51st St. was a madhouse today with the premiere of the Roberto Cavalli collection with the designer himself making a personal appearance at the location. A line began forming outside the store at 7 p.m. last night, and crowds of people camped out over the freezing cold night for the 8 a.m. special store opening. Store clerks told stories of girls running into the store and just grabbing everything in site and making a mad dash for the dressing room to sort out their treasures. One girl (and possibly more) in tears after falling face first onto the floor as she ran. One shopper, Vielka featured in the video above, arrived a couple hours late to the scene only to find barely any Roberto Cavalli apparel left. She was able to scrounge up a few choice pieces like Cavalli's signature leopard print underwear and stylish black scarf. The inside of H&M was covered with two-story posters from the Roberto Cavalli for H&M photo shoot. Customers received special Roberto Cavalli shopping bags to carry their purchases in, and employees wore animal print shirts with a Roberto Cavalli logo across the front.
