New Japanese no brand-name superstore, Muji, opens in SoHo Friday
Do you ever get a little tired of the brand-name game? Don't get me wrong--I love designer fashions, but sometimes a t-shirt is just a t-shirt and shouldn't be $50 just because of a logo printed across the front. So, for those everyday wardrobe basics like shirts and socks, we thought you should know about the opening of Muji, the generic superstore that will be selling everything from packs of three tees for $20, kitchen tools for $5 and complete bed sheet sets for $30.
The full name of the company is Mujirushi Ryohin, which means "no brand quality goods." But don't worry, this store is more than just another no-name warehouse. The sleek interior reminds me of Ikea, and a collection of their products was previously available at the MoMa design store. Plus, the store will offer more than 2,000 items in every shopping category--from health and beauty to outdoors to appliances to apparel and more. Muji opens this Friday at noon at 455 Broadway in SoHo.
