The decibal level of America’s Next Top Model is enough to make me want to turn off the television the first time anything that could be remotely construed as exciting happens, because all the girls start screaming their heads off.
The girls’ new loft wasn’t as exciting as that reveal usually is in reality shows. I’m wondering if the price of real estate in New York was prohibitive for the show, or if they really wanted to give the girls the feel of a model apartment. How about a bunch of girls having to sleep in the same bed? Is this the ANTM equivelant of the ubiquitous Real World hot tub?
Mark Badgley James Mischka were guests tonight which was actually pretty exciting. Modelling Badgley Mischka designs in a Times Square fashion show is a pretty cool first challenge. I thought Amie and Claire had the best runway walks. The only disappointing thing was that they only showed Badgley and Mischka for two seconds, way to underuse a prestigious guest.
The idea for the photo shoot with homeless youth was a really good idea, but after introducing the concept ANTM completely ignored the homeless girls. If they really wanted to raise awareness they could have told some of the girls’ stories – or even better show how they fed them or maybe paid them the same amount they would a professional model. I liked the styling on this shoot, though, and it was better than some of their past spotlight on an issue shoots.
Paulina Porizkova, pictured above, is a great new judge. Twiggy was a really nice person, but she didn’t have a whole lot of personality for the show, and she also didn’t really fit in with the rest of the judging panel.
I thought Kim really shot herself in the foot by saying she doesn’t find fashion interesting, but then she just volunteered to go home anyway. So … that is really lame. Why take up another girl’s spot? And why not try to be a model in order to make a difference in an industry you find overly consumerist?
In addition to Kim, Atalya went home. I’m glad they kept Amis around, as much as that fake name annoys me. Atalya really didn’t perform either at the runway or on the photo shoot.
Next week is makeover week – my favorite week! Tell me what you thought of this week’s episode in the comments and be sure to come back next week.
