Milan Fashion Week: Calvin Klein Collection, Dolce & Gabbana, and Fendi
In one writer's humble opinion, Milan Fashion Week started off strong and then kind of petered out. While I love all three of these designers, who showed Thursday and Friday this week closing out the Milan shows, none of these collections really struck me as much as say, D&G or the controversial Prada show.
Calvin Klein sent more of the same down the runway of his Calvin Klein Collection show. Like many designers in Milan this week, he's been playing with shape and proportions in a very new and different way than those in New York and London, which I preferred.
Dolce & Gabbana kept the plaid running through their main collection just like it was a mainstay of their D&G show, but it was a lot subtler and more sophisticated here. But I chose to show an evening gown, above, since we're gearing up for the red carpet and this one is fabulous. This was definitely my favorite Milan show.
Fendi showed short skirts, architectural shapes, and detailed sleeves. While beautifully made, I found this collection a bit staid. It was also heavy on the fur, which I'm not really a fan of even if it's faux.
