New York Fashion Week: Bill Blass
Bill Blass has never been an edgy label but with Peter Som taking over from Michael Vollbracht for the first time I was eagerly anticipating this show. Som managed to work within the confines of classcism and wearability and come up with something that stayed true to the label's origins.
Blass' signature tailoring and flowing lines were updated took look fresh and modern as models sauntered down the catwalk in stylish dresses and trouser suits. Sticking to a restricted palette of greys, purples and blues was a wise move as it reinforced the simple message of the collection. My particular favourite detail was the 'Deadwood' style neck ties which gave an eccentric flourish.
