Turquoise may never really have gone away as far as hippies and Southwestern tourists are concerned, but is the stone making a comeback in fashion?
The latest incarnations of turquoise jewelry are less American Indian-inspired and more polished, implying that this time around it’s more about the color than the stone.
The Mizuki turquoise cross bracelet above, $320, is actually made of Chinese turquoise interspersed with gold balls.

This J. Crew glass-bead and fireball necklace, $98, however, isn’t made out of turquoise at all. Colored glass beads really pop mixed in with rhinestone fireballs.
So it seems to come down for this season’s penchant for punchy colors much more than the American Indian stones of bohemian yore. Which do you prefer?
