America's Next Top Model in Rome

In the grand tradition of bizarre international locations for America's Next Top Model, this season Tyra Banks took the girls to Rome, Italy.
Not Milan - the fashion capital of Italy and the home of one of the most important fashion weeks in the world - but Rome. Why not hop one city North, Tyra?
But alas. For more on what happened in what is admittedly the more culturally rich Italian city - also weird for the vapid ANTM - keep reading.
First the girls went to the showroom of an Italian designer to try on some clothes and get a better feel for Italian fashion. Anya won the subsequent walk off, bringing her prize total up to $10,000 plus a couture gown.
The Italian Covergirl commercial was, as usual, painful. We feel for the girls having to deliver a commercial in a foreign language - particularly Italian which is harder than it seems.
Clearly, Lauren had checked out of the competition. She somehow managed to do worse than Dominique on the commercial, complaining about how un-Covergirl she was the whole time. You're punk, we get it. But you sought out a spot in this modeling competition, it's not like you were discovered on the street, so you can only act so disinterested.
The judges were pretty harsh this week, but rightly so. It really seems like Tyra is disagreeing with all the other judges just to disagree sometimes, but they've always tried to even each other out on ANTM.
It was shocking that Dominique wasn't even in the bottom two. The fact that she was so horrible was likely to be a saving grace for either Lauren or Whitney, but no! She actually was the third model called.
In terms of who wants it more, Whitney definintely deserved to stay. Lauren just didn't think she could do it so she stopped trying, Since television spots are such a huge part of the winner's job, it made sense to send her home. And it's great to see a plus-sized model make it so far in the competition.
