Miley Cyrus follows up internet shots with racy Vanity Fair shoot

After some playfully provacative images of 15-year-old Disney star Miley Cyrus surfaced on the internet, it seems the star dug herself a bit deeper in trouble with her critics with a sexy semi-nude Vanity Fair photo shoot.
The Cyrus camp implies that Vanity Fair and photographer Annie Leibovitiz manipulated the teen to pose in a photograph that turned out more sexy than previously discussed.
In the Vanity Fair photos, Cyrus appears to be nude.
"For Vanity Fair, I was so honored and thrilled to work with Annie [Leibovitz]," Cyrus told People magazine. "I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be 'artistic' and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed."
Cyrus' employer the Disney Channel also released a statement: "Unfortunately, as the article suggests, a situation was created to deliberately manipulate a 15-year-old in order to sell magazines."
A People magazine source said "Miley's grandmother and her teacher were there when she shot it. Annie convinced them it was going to be artistic. Her parents are mortified. They know this is a learning moment for Miley ... The photo suggests that she is [naked], but she is not. She is covered by a sheet, and beneath the sheet she is clothed. Originally, she was in a flesh-colored tank top but was asked to remove it."
Beth Kseniak, a spokeswoman for both Vanity Fair and Leibovitz defended the move in The New York Times: "Miley's parents and/or minders were on the set all day. Since the photo was taken digitally, they saw it on the shoot and everyone thought it was a beautiful and natural portrait of Miley."

She seems really sweet and cute, and I sure hope she doesn't end up a mess like a lot of the other younger stars out there.
