A film tax credit has lured film projects and shoppers alike to Boston, it seems.

Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway, seen left, have been photographed all over the city filming their upcoming “Bride Wars” and actress Jayma Mays has hit town for “Paul Blart: Mall Cop.”

Mays and her co-workers have splurged at Marc Jacobs, Envi, Calypso and Gretta Luxe all in Boston, and the movie’s costume designer, Ellen Lutter, spent more than $100,000 locally.

“Any business is good business — we say bring it on,” Barneys New York spokeswoman Dawn Brown told WWD. The store has assigned a staffer in Boston specifically to assist costume designers for filming projects.

Saks Fifth Avenue has taken a similar measure, said “Bride Wars” costume designer Karen Patch. “Bride Wars” costume designer Karen Patch spent “at least” $100,000 on Escada, Armani and Saks looks at the store. At Louis Boston, she stocked up on cashmere sweaters and Loeffler Randall shoes for Anne Hathaway’s character.

ShinyStyle has shopped Boston’s tony Newbury Street several times and gives it a thumbs up for a more relaxed but just as designer shopping experience as you’d have in New York.
