If you’re saying “what? Project Runway starts tonight?” that’s probably because Bravo has conspicuously foregone it’s traditional media blitz and non-stop marathons used to promote new seasons.
Could it be because of the ongoing legal issues surrounding the show’s move to Lifetime for season 6? Probably.
But there is news to be had – for goss on possible guest judges and challenges, keep reading.
It’s rumored that producers are actively pursuing Mariah Carey to be the final fashion week guest judge on this season – which kind of indicates a trend toward a more Hollywood and less high-fashion aesthetic. This trend was predicted when the show announced plans to move to L.A. for season six, though the reason producers give for the move is the proximity to host Heidi Klum’s home.
We already know that Brooke Shields will be a guest judge this season, as part of a reported Lipstick Jungle episode. About the challenge, Shields told New York Magazine “”I don’t want to ruin it, but there was something to do with the fashion taste — it had to be incorporated into Lipstick Jungle in a certain way.”
She also said she was intimidated by fellow judges Nina Garcia, Michael Kors, Heidi Klum and task master Tim Gunn.
“I was surprised at how long and how emotional it was,” she added. “I thought I would be more on the periphery, and they actually involved me on a much deeper level, and I felt truly engaged in both my criticism and my approval and whatever I had to say about the designers. It felt like it got personal, and I tried to keep it professional.”
