With all the waste (energy, paper, carbon emissions) of fashion week, why not just Be EcoChic?

Admittedly, Fashion Week is probably not the most environmental of events. What with thousands of paper invites, heating/cooling those tents, and guests/models flying in from all corners of the earth. Not to mention cabs. Nothing says “skip mass transit” like the heels rquired should Anna Wintour catch a glimpse of you.

But BeEcoChic is at least trying to make sure sustainable, low-impact fabrics and environmental crusaders have a place amongst the madness.

Keep reading for how models Angela Lindvall, Alek Wek, Lauren Hutton and Alexandra Richards, as well as TV stars from “Lipstick Jungle,” “Law & Order,” “Gossip Girl” and “Ugly Betty” will be doing their part.

The models and celebs will be showing off designs from Donna Karan, Ralph Rucci, Carmen Marc Valvo, Christian Cota and Vena Cava in a runway show at the Museum of Natural History next Thursday.

“Eco-fashion is going high-tech,” Lindvall, co-stars of Discovery’s “Planet Green” show “AlterEco,” told WWD. “The fashion industry is beginning to realize that eco-fashion can be well-designed, glamorous and, well, fashionable.”

These industry notables will be joined by environmental activists Mary Richardson, the wife of Riverkeeper’s Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and Laura Turner Seydel, daughter of Ted Turner. And us, of course. Our RSVP is in and we’ll have pics galore to show you.
