New York Fashion Week Gallery: Halston S/S 2009

By Gemma on September 10th, 2008

The revived Halston label is enjoying nothing but infamy at the moment. With the likes of Harvey Weinstein, Rachel Zoe and Tamara Mellon turning the cogs in the background, you’d expect the label to be delivering something very special. But following the departure of designer Marco Zanini (and the fact Zoe doesn’t seem to care any more) the future seems uncertain despite the fact previous collections sold well. This Fashion Week, instead of a traditional runway show, models lounged around in pieces that harked back to the Halston heydays of the 1970s. The flowing maxi dresses were definitely pretty, but I can’t help thinking there was nothing that couldn’t be found in vintage shops for a lot less money…CLICK THE IMAGE TO VIEW THE GALLERY and decide for yourself.

New York Fashion Week Gallery: Marc Jacobs S/S 2009

“Imagine Angelica Houston if she was a glamorous anthropology lecturer with a shot of Agatha Christie ’30s chic and you’re not even close,” is how Catwalk Queen’s Isabelle describes the Marc Jacobs Spring / Summer 2009 show. As always, this was the show everyone was waiting for, and Jacobs definitely didn’t disappoint. But it is a show that’ll leave your head spinning for a while. Jacobs doesn’t so much take inspiration from things as create a whole new world with each show, and the over-zealous styling of his runway shows can be a bit difficult to grasp at first. Examine the clothing in more detail and you’ll spot some fabulous pieces, from leather pencil skirts to lame shirts. Click the image to view the gallery.
