We woke this morning to the sad news that Bettie Page had died, aged 85. It may seem ironic as fashion bloggers to pay tribute to a woman most famous for taking her clothes off, but without Bettie there’d be no Dita Von Teese, no pin-up girl style, no Bettie Page clothing; she had a huge influence on style. As Hugh Hefner once said, Bettie was “an iconic figure in pop culture who influenced sexuality, taste in fashion, someone who had a tremendous impact on our society.” As one of the original pin-up girls, Bettie was controversial, beautiful and inspiring, and she will be sadly missed.
