Inauguration fashion has always been a subject of interest. What will the first ladies wear? What will the daughters wear? But now you can think about what you’ll wear, even if you’re not invited to the inauguration.
A spate of designers are creating Barack Obama-themed merchandise to celebrate the inauguration, including Tory Burch with the tote seen.
Burch, Zac Posen, Diane von Furstenberg, Donna Karan and Alexander Wang have created merchandise to support the “Runway to Change” initiative launched during Obama’s presidential campaign. Items include a scarf from Wang, an “Obama” emblazoned tote from DVF and an Urban Zen T-shirt printed with “Inspire Change” on it by Donna Karan.
Diane von Furstenberg has had some awesome sales on its Web site this year, and while this isn’t the mythic 80% off of recession dreams, it’s pretty darn close.
Our handbag blog, TheBagLady, has a first look at Zooey Deschanel’s ad campaign for Oliver People’s.
The fashion favorite was picked up by the eyewear brand to star in their spring/summer 2009 campaign. The images are appearing on the site now and making BagLady editor Kelly want a pair of geeky chic specs like never before!
We’re always looking for a cool leather jacket. It’s a luxe basic that can be incorporated into any wardrobe, so this Aminaka Wilmont leather biker jacket 50% off for $997.50 in the Net-a-Porter sale will probably go quickly.
What will make it go quicker? An extra 20% off. This week just enter the code WINTERUSA through Sunday, January 18, to get the extra savings on all clearance items.
An asymmetric closure and notch collar keep the style modern, while the cropped silhouette is classic. To keep it really fashion forward, avoid a full-on biker look and wear your leather jacket with the unexpected – jeans are the easy way out.

We were disappointed that when Blake Lively chose Nina Ricci she didn’t pick one of the more dramatic cutaway front dresses from Ricci’s runway. But apparently Blake was more disappointed that she might not be a size 0.
A Gossip Girl costume department worker let slip that they had to cut the sizes out of any samples that weren’t a size 0. It actually kind of looks like Lively might have been better off going with a 2 in this dress. When you’re one of the hottest girls on TV, who cares what size you are? Own it, Blake!
We’ve showcased a few trends from last night’s Golden Globes for you, including pastels, belted dresses, and dark clors. But now it’s my turn to show you what I just plain loved.
Drew Barrymore and Jessica Lange were clearly already in character for the turn as Big Edie and Little Edie in the remake of Grey Gardens last night at the Golden Globes. Here, in one of their more lucid red-carpet interviews, they discuss making the film.
Dark hues may have been the choice for many starlets, but the Golden Globes were also awash with pastels too. Anyone might have thought it was spring by the way some celebs wore their pretty pale colours. Nudes, soft pinks, pale yellows and blues dominated as the likes of Angelina Jolie, Drew Barrymore and Salma Hayek took their turns in front of the cameras. [Photos: Jim Smeal/BEI/Rex Features]

One thing’s for sure, black wasn’t boring on the red carpet at tonight’s Golden Globe Awards. These three ladies stunned, shimmered and sparkled in dark, dramatic gowns. Evan Rachel Wood chose a different, tiered silhouette shot through with silver sequins and accessorized by her charming tattoo. Anne Hathaway wore a navy blue Armani Prive gown and simple earrings for a very classic, very old school Anne look. We knew Amy Adams (seen here with Darren Le Gallo) would be one of our favorites when we first saw her in the strapless Oscar de la Renta applique gown.
Reem Acra dressed a bevy of ladies on the red carpet of the Golden Globe awards, including Olivia Wilde (House), Rumer Willis (Miss Golden Globe) and Eva Longoria, above. Wilde’s and Willis’ dresses are a bit similar, the same purple color family even. But Eva Longoria really stands out in a more structural red gown.
The Golden Globes are about to begin! Who’s dressing the most ladies on the red carpet? It may be a tie between Oscar de la Renta and Reem Acra, with Lorraine Schwartz definitely providing the most jewelry. Check out the latest designer namechecks:
Anna Paquin (True Blood) – Herve Leger Christina Applegate (Samantha Who) – Roberto Cavalli, Lorraine Schwartz jewelry Elizabeth Banks (Zach and Miri Make A Porno, W) – J. Mendel, Lorraine Schwartz jewelry and Fred Leighton hair clip Maggie Gyllenhaal (The Dark Knight) – Lanvin Drew Barrymore – (presenter) Dior Jessica Lange – Roberto Cavalli Miley Cyrus (Best Original Song for Bolt) – Marchesa Keira Sedgwick (The Closer) – Oscar de la Renta Eva Mendez (The Spirit) – Dior Anne Hathaway (Rachel Getting Married) – Armani Prive Beyonce (Cadillac Records) – Elie Saab dress, Lorraine Schwartz jewelry
Blue has been a huge trend already this awards season, and House’s Jennifer Morrison was happy to participate in the trend at the Golden Globes tonight. Morrison is wearing Oscar de la Renta (who was all over the red carpet dressing ladies like Amy Adams and Kyra Sedgwick) with Lorraine Schwartz jewelry.
While we wait for pictures from the 66th Annual Golden Globe Awards to pour in (and pour they will!) we’re going to keep you company liveblogging who is wearing what.
Jenna Fischer (The Office) – Zuhair Murad dress, Chopard bracelet Jennifer Morrison (House) – Oscar de la Renta dress, Lorraine Schwartz custom earrings Taraji P. Henson (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button) – J. Mendel dress, H. Stern jewels, Stuart Weitzman shoes Eva Longoria – Reem Acra Susan Sarandon – Hugo Boss tuxedo, Fred Leighton jewelry, Stuart Weitzman shoes Amy Adams – Oscar de la Renta, Lorraine Schwartz earrings
Looks like the economy has affected the Golden Globes even before the red carpet, at the gift lounges! Companies are giving away fewer freebies and fewer c’lebs are showing up to score free swag. Dog tags instead of diamonds? Beauty oil instead of a free trip? How will Hollywood survive?
