It’s that time of year, when walking around New York City is especially damaging to one’s ego because in addition to average-grade celebrities and fashionistas there are superhuman beauties marching the streets and catwalks. So what have the models been up to during fashion week? Eating! Reading! It’s true. Even indulging in some adorably touristy behavior. Check it out after the jump.

I just loved that Anne Vyalitsyna took a picture of her model card at Badgley Mischka, and when I took a picture of her makeup, she asked me to also take a picture for her with her camera. I think of models as being jaded and cooler-than-though but I thought that was really lovely and showed that she’s still excited about what she does.

What do the models do while having their hair and makeup done, besides stare vacantly ahead? Well, about half of them are listening to headphones, and once in a while you even catch a girl reading. Although to be honest it’s not that often. They’re probably too tired and nervous.

All the shows have pretty nice spreads backstage with fruit, veggies, cheese, bagels, pastries and even hors d’oevres depending on the time of day. And overwhelmingly you almost always see the models eating. Yes, it’s almost always fruit, but that’s cool. (I was taking a picture of the back of the model’s hair at Chris Benz, I really wasn’t stalking models to try and find one eating, promise.)
