Fall 09 New York Fashion Week is here! We’re excited, and we hope you are too. The first show on the official schedule is happening right now – The Heart Red Truth’s Red Dress Collection – and we’ll have pictures for you asap. For some stray fashion week gossip/observations, keep reading.

- The design of the tents is much better than last year’s neon “vote fashion” theme, don’t you think? Check out more of the graphics at the official Web site

- The first crazy fashion week rumor has come and gone – and how appropro for blogging – it was via Twitter. Someone posted on The Fashion Spot that Karl Lagerfeld was dead, and it was subsequently tweeted to the world. But fear not, it seems to have been a hoax.

- Last night off the official schedule Project Runway runner-up Jillian Lewis hosted her show, check it out over on Fashionista.

- The press passes are so cool this year, the lanyards embrace my favorite spring trend, zippers! In fact they are made up of one big, awesome unzipped zipper by YKK. I’m already thinking about how this can be incorporated into an outfit. And also still dreaming of the zipper open-toe booties I tried on in Macy’s after the pre-screening of Confessions of a Shopaholic (more on that later).

But, it’s time to focus. On fashion! For a glorious seven days. Our girls are on the ground and in the tents and we’ve got show reviews, photos, videos and a lot more on the way.
