A new destination, and a whole new era was on the cards for the Chanel Cruise 2010 presentation yesterday. Set in the charming surroundings of Lido Resort, Venice, the show used a boardwalk as its runway and deckchairs for its seating arrangement. The collection itself was drenched in summer days during the 1930s, dotted with sailor dresses, wide brimmed hats, striped knitted shorts and short curly bobs. Karl Lagerfeld was directly inspired by Venetian high-society, namely Marchesa Casati and Peggy Guggenheim, an American art collector whose palazzo is home to Italy’s most important collection of twentieth-century art.
