From Catwalk Queen…
Diane von Furstenberg, who has strived for copyright inclusion as part of her role as CFDA president, has settled out of court after being accused of improper copying. DvF will now pay the designers of Mercy of Canada an undisclosed sum and will stop using the copied jacket design. Some might recall that the garment was actually pulled by Whitney Port on The City for the March ’09 cover of Elle.
“While this is an isolated incident for DVF, it is unfortunate that way too many others intentionally build businesses by stealing the work of other designers,” von Furstenberg said.

Meanwhile, Nicolas Ghesquière’s Resort 2010 collection for Balenciaga has raised a few similar questions over its authenticity. A leather jacket has drawn comparisons to a strikingly similar “Parrot” jacket by San Francisco label, East West Musical Instruments.
I wonder if this one will end up in the hands of the lawyers as well.
