A war of words, or names rather, has erupted between Katy Perry and Australian designer, Katie Perry.The trouble began when Katie Perry, who runs a luxury loungewear label, decided to trademark her birth name. Lawyers acting on behalf of Katy Perry are opposing the application, despite a difference in spelling. They sent a letter to the designer asking her to stop trading.

“I got such a huge shock,” Katie Perry said. “It really felt like I was being intimidated and bullied into signing everything away. It asked me to give up the trademark, withdraw sale of my clothes, withdraw any advertising and any websites… I love my business. I’m not going to give it away without a fight either.”

Interestingly, the singer is set to tour Australia in August. I doubt Katie Perry will be welcoming her with open arms.
