Tess Daly launches beauty range for Marks and Spencer

By Andrea Petrou on September 23rd, 2009

tess-daly.jpgAnother celebrity to be pulled into the retailer space is Strictly Come Dancing presenter, Tess Daly.

The style icon is launching her first beauty range with Marks & Spencer this October.

Daly Body is said to include shimmering lotions to make you “look fresh, radiant and youthful.”

Tess said: My time as a model taught me every trick in the book for high glamour flawless looks and TV cameras never lie, but the right products can help you to stay camera perfect throughout! For me the ultimate quick fix is all about getting a shimmer and a glow to my skin.”

The products are also said to have a sensual warm, heady scent that blends opulent tuberose with jasmine, osmanthus and spicy nuances layered upon a sweet vanilla base, and enhanced by guaiacwood, sandalwood and musks.

The collection will be available from 19th October 2009.

Geox launches limited run of shoes. Once they’re gone, they’re gone.

By Andrea Petrou on September 23rd, 2009

Donna Annette_D9378A 21 C9999.jpgLet’s admit it, we’ve all had one of those days where we’ve turned up in a bar or to a friend’s dinner in what we thought was an original piece of clothing, only to find another girl wearing exactly the same thing.

If you are the kind of girl who hates this happening and want to stand out from the crowd without paying a fortune for couture clothing then we suggest you head down to Geox.

The Italian footwear company is launching a limited run of footwear styles available exclusively from their 7 monobrand stores across the UK.

From 15th October 2009, the Limited Edition Flash collection will launch in Geox standalone stores and will be made up of four women’s wear styles.

However, there’s a twist as each Geox store will only stock one of each size in each style, meaning you’ll not only be one of a few with the show but you’ll need to be quick to get hold of these fashion fancies.

Choices include suede boots, including a fashion forward over the knee style, to a patent leopard print court, we say get queuing from now. Donna Roslyn D93u3Q FY C6021.jpg

Asos launches Hub collection of up and coming British designers

By Andrea Petrou on September 22nd, 2009

Asos Louise Hub.jpgWe’ve been talking about affordable fashions as an alternative to the designs being shown at London Fashion Week and Asos has once again come up trumps.

Our favourite online store has just launched a collection from a range of up and coming British designers.

The Hub collection is made up of fifteen clothing and accessory designers and includes From statement dresses and jackets, to drawl worthy accessories, and not forgetting a selection of loud leggings.

Designers include Swash, Florian and Scott Wilson, all displaying fashions that will keep us going into the Winter season and beyond.

We love this V-Neck Draping Dress by Hub designer Louise Amstrup and the even better news is that there will more designers adding to this gorgeous collection in the near future.

Kate Moss to make an apearnace in reality TV show “James’ Salon”.

By Andrea Petrou on September 22nd, 2009

kate-moss.jpgIt seems that nearly every celeb is vying to do more with their already packed lives; from designing a range to appearing on reality TV shows (Big Brother has a lot to answer for).

The latest celebrity to succumb to the latter is super chic Kate Moss.

The Supermodel, who already has a successful clothing range at Topshop and made an appearance at the Topshop Unique show on Sunday during London Fashion Week, is rumoured to be making an appearance in “James’ Salon.” This is a fly-on-the-wall documentary about the opening of her friend James Brown’s first salon.

“People will see how funny and warm and caring she is,” Brown told fashion blog WWD.
“People will see the real her.”

The one-hour show will be aired on 13 October on E4 channel. We’ll be watching closely.

QS brings us some affordable shoe fashion

By Andrea Petrou on September 22nd, 2009

Thumbnail image for TASSLE SHOE 16 QS.JPGWith London Fashion Week being on the forefront of my mind this week, I almost forgot that we girls also need some affordable highstreet fashion to keep our winter wardrobes stocked up until spring/summer 2010.

Cue this cute tassel shoe with a bow for tying from QS.

At £16 we guess it’s not real suede but they’re an excellent piece to have, matching jeans, dresses and also trousers.

And if you want to add a little bit of high street chic into London Fashion Week you could also wear them to one of the shows.

London Fashion Week: Video highlights

By Andrea Petrou on September 21st, 2009

It’s really hard to explain the buzz surrounding London Fashion Week, when you haven’t been (no I’m not rubbing it in, this year is the first time I’ve ever been).

The catwalk shows are amazing and the constant excitement of what’s going to be shown hangs around the atmosphere like humidity before a rainstorm.

Thankfully you don’t need to miss out on the fashions, as this year LFW has put up all designers collections online, including videos of many of the catwalk shows.

We the highlights videos, which has highlights of each day. Day two, for example includes the NEWGEN presentations in the Portico Rooms, Massive Attack Djing at The Exhibition, Stephen jones sharing his thoughts on the new Venue aswell as exclusive backstage footage at PPQ, Ashish and John Rocha.

Watch the video here.

London Fashion Week: Stella McCartney and Adidas

By Andrea Petrou on September 21st, 2009

Sporty fashion is always something I like to keep on top of, especially for days when I just want to slob around in my tracksuit bottoms but worried about an announced visitor.

So I’m really pleased that Stella McCartney has once again come up trumps with her range for sportswear company Adidas.

The daughter of Paul McCartney, yet a fashion star in her own right has been designing the range for Adidas for five years bringing us sporty, casual designs that we can afford to be caught out in, and this year’s collection, displayed at London Fashion Week, is certainly no different.

She showed off vest tops with scalloped edging and slouchy jersey short-shorts as well as zebra print leggings for girls that like to go to dance classes and peach and grey, cape-sleeved hoodies for the yoga fans amongst us.

This year’s range also has a triathlon collection for those of us who are very sporty. Now we’re just waiting for pictures but as soon as we get them we’ll be putting them up to show you.

London Fashion Week: Betty Jackson catwalk show

By Andrea Petrou on September 21st, 2009

Betty Jackson Ruffles.jpgI could sit here all day and write about all the fabulous catwalk shows and different designers we have seen so far at London Fashion Week.

One such designer that has got my heart racing so far this year has got to be Betty Jackson and if you like your clothes to have a ruffle or two then you’ll agree her designs are amazing.

Ruffles appeared on many of this designer’s creations, hiding subtly in skirt bustles and making a big mark around the neck or on a skirt or dress. These plus, the floral prints and pastel green and pink colours gave this collection a girly fun with a hint of maturity.

However it didn’t end there. Betty is the second designer we’ve spoken about who has used metallic fabrics and big shoulders in her collection. We think this means both are going to be a big trend for next year.

Footwear

Cat Footwear vs Jimmy Choo

By Andrea Petrou on September 18th, 2009

Thumbnail image for Outlaw.jpgI love my designer shoes and boots as much as the next girl, but with the economy closing in, it’s sometimes hard to justify (to the bank manager) why I’ve spent my monthly allowance on a pair of shoes.

They don’t seem to understand that girls need these as much as the human race needs water (well slight exaggeration there) do they?

However, I’ve come to realise that high street retailers do have similar ranges to that of designers and these boots by Cat footwear are a perfect example.

Priced at £94.99 they are a much better price than these £695 Jimmy Choo boots (pictured below) and almost identical.

London Fashion Week: Paul Costelloe catwalk show

By Andrea Petrou on September 18th, 2009

London Fashion Week has officially kicked off and this morning I had the pleasure of attending Dublin born designer Paul Costelloe’s fashion show.

Paul has been showing his collections at London Fashion Week for 24 years and has opened the show for the past six seasons. This year was no different.

I always get really excited at this time of year when designers bring out their ranges for and I’m pleased to say this catwalk show didn’t disappoint.

Mr Costelloe’s designs were amazing and incorporated high collars, architectural shapes and block colours into the collection.

We saw puffball skirts incorporated with square metallic prints along with high necked jackets.

And it seems the 80s look will still be lingering way into next year if Paul’s designs are anything to go by. His collection included a range of 80s style shoulder jackets and dresses as well as midi jackets and skirts with big square pleats.

Although there was the odd little black dress the rest of the collection was bright, (think silvers and pinks.)

It’s also good news for men who hate the smart look because it seems this season’s fashions are smart casual as Paul’s range was all about loose linen suits and chinos in beiges and jumpers in bright orange.

We’ve got the official photos and our own now so have a look and tell us what you think.

I’ll also try to bring you some video footage later on.

Madonna models for Louis Vuitton’s latest ad campaign

By Andrea Petrou on September 18th, 2009

Madonna campaign 1.JPG

Madonna’s had it all; singing fame, Guy Ritchie and a short, yet memorable acting career.

However it seems this pop starlet isn’t quite yet content with what she has as she’s now moved into the world of modelling.

The woman of many talents has undertaken an advertising campaign for Louis Vuitton modelling gorgeous dresses in shades of purple and blue.

For a lady past middle age, we have to admit that she looks fantastic.

It must be all that yoga and healthy eating.

Lily Allen shines in this inpromptu Gio Goi photoshoot

By Andrea Petrou on September 17th, 2009

Lily.jpgPicture the scene, you’re all snuggled up in your casual tracksuit bottoms with no make up on and a photographer turns up at your door for an impromptu photoshoot.

Now I’m not sure about you but I’d panic and find the nearest window to escape from.

Thankfully not all of us are so vain because when Gio Goi owner Anthony Donelly turned up at Lily Allen’s fathers home the duo set up an impromptu photoshoot.

Using the house and surrounding countryside as locations for the shoot Lily posed in a range of clothing. We’re sure you’ll agree the last minute notice has created an amazingly relaxed range of photos and some also reportedly featured Lily clutching a pint in her hand.

Paparazzi bag, as seen on Rihanna is now on sale at Asos

By Andrea Petrou on September 17th, 2009

Paparazzi Asos.jpgA girl can never have too many bags can she?

And it would be wrong not to be able to have one that all the latest celebrities have been sporting, especially if it’s an affordable price right?

ASOS has come up trumps again stocking this ironically named Paparazzi bag, which has been spotted under the arms of celebrities including Kim Catrall, who wore this little beauty on the set of the new Sex and the City film, and Rihanna.

I think this bag is gorgeous and as it’s in a multitude of colours will instantly brighten up our winter wardrobe.

And at a bargain price we don’t really need to justify this purchase to the other half, bank manager or parents.

Log on to ASOS now to bag yours before they get snapped up.

Get the look: Katie Price’s retro cartoon T-Shirt

By Andrea Petrou on September 17th, 2009

Katie P Oscar.JPGI absolutely love the retro cartoon look T-Shirts that have been gradually growing in popularity for the past two years.

Not only do they remind me of my childhood but are also a good way to wear casual t-shirts without feeling underdressed.

However it seems as though I’m not the only one to have fallen for this trend. We have spotted a number of celebs wearing these too including Katie Price.

I love this Oscar the Grouch top, which reminds me of my childhood Sesame Street days and the best thing about it is we can also get our hands on it. It’s £24.99 and it’s from Truffle Shuffle.
