Plus size models slowly moving into fashion magazines

By Andrea Petrou on September 2nd, 2009

lizzie.jpgIt seems that fashion magazines are finally taking note of our need to see a real woman on fashion spreads and on covers.

After a huge positive response to the nude photo of plus-size model Lizzie Miller in the September issue of American Glamour, the magazine will apparently feature “a slew of large, nude models” in its November’s issue.

We hope this filters through to the UK versions but we wonder if we’ll still be bombarded with features like “lose weight, fee great” alongside these.

It actually reminds me of a time when, after reading one magazine article on a girl’s fight with anorexia, I turned the page to be presented with an advert for Adios. Oh dear.

Tell us what you think. Is Lizzie is the kind of model you would like to see gracing the magazine pages? Vote below.

Cheryl Cole gets crowned as the new face of L’Oreal

By Andrea Petrou on September 1st, 2009

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I love Cheryl Cole.

Her style is usually spot on and she’s disgustingly gorgeous.

So it’s hardly come as any surprise that she’s been given the new face of L’Oreal crown, well, it was only a matter of time.

Cheryl joins the likes of other celebrities who have modelled for the brandl including Beyoncé, Linda Evangelista and Jennifer Aniston but she’s the first British woman to grace the brand since Kate Moss in 1998.

She’ll be the face of a hair product called Elvive Full Restore 5, which will hit the shops next month.

Hmm, now we don’t like to judge but we think she may have to sort out her current hair colour before then.

She may be a style queen but that cherry look is really not screaming she’s worth it at the moment.

More fashion apps on your iPhone

By Andrea Petrou on September 1st, 2009

Ipod.JPGI don’t know about you, but I can’t remember what life was like without my iPhone, it keeps me amused on the bus, in waiting rooms and at work. In fact, if I’m honest I could probably wile away my day on it.

Last week, I was talking to the lovely people at Apple, who bought us the Net a Porter app, and they told me they had come up with even more fashion bits to keep us up to date with the latest news.

You can browse through the full D&G Collection for winter 2010 featuring male and female fashion as well as a wide range of accessories. You can get the latest news and looks and if you can’t wait, get directions to your nearest store.

You can also enter the world of Chanel with inspirational photos from its latest runway show in Venice and let Donna Karan talk you through her Collection, her inspirations, her passions. There are even photos from her recent holiday to Africa with her very own app which she describes as “the modern evolution of the time I spend with my customers in the dressing room.”

Each app can be found in the Lifestyle section of Apple Apps, and the best thing about them is that they are free. Well that gives us more money to spend on the clothes doesn’t it?
