We touched on which brush styles achieved specific looks for a certain hair style but we think this advice is most definitely important enough for its own post.
After all, without the right tools, you may struggle to get the look you want.
Working again with Schwarzkopf Professional Ambassador Aaron Blondell, Assistant Art Director at John Carne Hairdressing, we've put together detailed information about each brush type and what it can do for your locks.
Thermo Ceramic. Perfect for added volume
Thermo ceramic brushes retain the heat of your dryer and act as a heated styling appliance to help you style. Heating each section of hair over the brush you will achieve longer lasting volume and they are the perfect shape to build root lift. Aaron recommends leaving the brush in the hair to cool down before you take it out for even greater staying power.
Wood. Perfect for stubborn hair
"If you need to create more tension on hair to achieve volume then use the wooden round brush to give you a helping hand. Designed to grip the hair and to give natural root lift to all styles, the bristles are ideal for adding intense shine for an ultimate salon glossy finish," Aaron told us.
Paddle. Perfect for straightening hair without irons
According to Aaron starting with a paddle brush will help you achieve a smooth and even look. Work work slowly section by section, using your brush like a board and channel the heat of the blow dryer in the direction of the hair to get a shiny finish."
Vent. Perfect for layered hair
This brush is perfect for layered hair to create movement with a rounded texture. It's also great for curly hair as it will help to detangle without any snagging. It's perfect for fast blow-drying. The vents help the hot air to get directly to the roots which speed up the drying process. The flexible bristles are also kind to the scalp.

It's true, vent brush is very ideal for curly hair. It detangles hair safely and creates volume during blowdrying. Also I have one with hygienic one-piece mould that avoids dirt-traps.
