It seems as though our rage against size zero models is set to continue today, with news that Lara Stone still gets criticised for being a bigger model.

The size 8 stunner who used to refer to herself as “the fat one,” before accepting her size, told Vogue: “People still tell me I’m fat, but when I look in the mirror, that’s not what I see.”

Lara may be a healthy cut above the rest of the size zero models and with a range of successful modelling campaigns under her belt including her latest venture with Louis Vuitton, you’d think the industry would be proud to have such an inspiration. However the skinny tunnel vision of stylists and designers still haunt her.

She told Vogue: “It’s depressing when the clothes don’t fit and you are always the odd one out…I was on a shoot last week and the stylist took out this tight corset dress and said, ‘Here, put it on,’ and I was like, ‘Who are you kidding?’ There was no way, so that was very rude of her. It’s like, come on, she’s a woman; whether you’re buying jeans at the mall, or wearing couture, you know what it’s like for clothes not to fit. It’s not an easy kind of rejection, because it’s very personal. It’s you, you’re body. You take it personally.”

We really hope the industry wakes up and gets a grip on the way we all should look and Lara, like our other bigger celebrity and model role models should be an inspiration to us all.
