Lara Stone and David Walliams announce their engagement

By Andrea Petrou on January 20th, 2010

Lara and David.jpg

It’s been a week of model engagements. Earlier this week Kate Moss announced she was engaged to beau Jamie Hince and today the rumour mill is going into overdrive with news that Little Britain comedian David Walliams has proposed our model du jour Lara Stone.

The couple who have been together for 4 months announced their engagement this week after David received the blessing from Lara’s parents.

He proposed to the Louis Vuitton model with a vintage ring, which he bought from LA.

And any doubts we have about the authenticity of the engagement have been laid to rest.

David told The Sun (yes we know) “Yes, it’s true, we’re engaged and blissfully happy.”

Congratulations to the both of you.

Gallery: Traditional vintage bags, scarves and shoes

By Andrea Petrou on January 20th, 2010

We love a bit of traditional vintage here at ShinyStyle. Not only does it mean we’re more than likely to be the only ones holding that handbag at a party, but we also love the buzz of hunting through stores and now online to find those perfect vintage items.

With the credit crunch still lurking we also think vintage has never been better with many gems being picked up for half their original prices.

We’ve therefore scouted the net to find you some traditional vintage bags, scarves and other items, but you’ll have to be quick off the mark with this gallery as once the one of a kind items are gone, they’re gone.

Zandra Rhodes and Millets team up to create a range of funky camping gear

By Andrea Petrou on January 20th, 2010

Millets.JPG

Zandra Rhodes and camping aren’t two words we’d normally put together but with weird partnerships springing up all over the place (think Lulu Guinness and Comet) the world of fashion is changing.

The designer and Millets have teamed up to create a range of outdoor kit ranging from tents to T-shirts.

Also included in the collection, which has been inspired by Zandra’s love of the Native Americans, are umbrellas, funky wellies and even a designer flask.

Rhodes, who in the past has designed dresses for Diana, Princess of Wales, outrageous suits for Freddie Mercury and stunning outfits for Kate Moss, said: “I’m thrilled that Millets have asked me to create a new range of clothes, accessories and camping kit for them…..It will be great to see my prints reach a new market and brighten up everywhere from campsites to concerts.”

Is Dannii Minogue the new face of Marks and Spencer?

By Andrea Petrou on January 19th, 2010

Dannii watch.JPGCould Dannii Minogue be stretching her talents to modelling?

If the rumour grapevine is anything to go by then we think the answers yes.

According to Grazia the X-Factor judge and singer has been approached by Marks and Spencer to front its next campaign.

It’s been a great month for Dannii who announced earlier this year that she was pregnant by her rugby league player boyfriend Kris Smith and if these rumours are true then Dannii really has a fantastic year in store.

We gave Marks and Spencer a quick call to see if the announcement was true but as yet we haven’t heard back. Keep reading for an update though.

Get the look: Cindy Crawford’s t-bar sandals

By Andrea Petrou on January 19th, 2010
Cindy Crawford Style for JCPenney Launch Party

Cindy Crawford is known as one of the first top supermodels and although she may not strut her stuff on the catwalk as regularly as she once did, she’s still up their as one of our style icons.

So we were thrilled when we spotted a similar pair of sandals to the ones she wore at a launch party late last year.

Cindy.jpg

The Margherita sandals from Geox have the same similar t-bar design to Cindy’s black leather ones, and we love the zip detail on the heel too.

Head down to Geox now and for £85 you can turn the pavement into your personal catwalk and strut your stuff in a pair.

Diesel has announced that it will be launching its range of candy coloured denim this week and we know that when a designer brand does this the highstreet will quickly follow suit.

Diesel’s range already has Katy Perry and Kristen Stewart as fans and we can’t wait to get our hands on a pair.

We just wish the spring would hurry up and get here.

Alexa Chung to design clothing range for Madewell

By Andrea Petrou on January 19th, 2010

Alexa ChungWe’ve always had a fashion crush on Alexa Chung. Not only does she have her own kooky style but she always looks extremely good in it too.

So you can imagine how excited we are to hear that the model turned TV presenter is designing her own clothing line.

She’s been signed up by US label Madewell to create the Alexa Chung for Madewell, collection.

The range said to focus on a ‘sexy tomboy, Sixties girls’ band’ design and will include skinny jeans, oversized biker jackets and patterned tea dresses, all with Victorian era velvet and lace accents.

Alexa said: ‘I love how their vibe is a mix of vintage and new.

‘It completely clicked with me.’

We can’t wait to see the range.

First looks: Fendi opts for traditional model for its SS2010 advertising campaign

By Andrea Petrou on January 18th, 2010

Fendi.jpgIt seems that photographing models in gardens for SS2010 has become the style du jour.

Louis Vuitton started this trend getting model Lara Stone to pose in various garden shots for its upcoming campaign and the first glimpse of the new Fendi campaign shows this design house is following.

However, unlike many brands who have opted for celebrities to front their campaigns (we’re talking to you D&G) Fendi has gone down the traditional route hiring polish beauty Anja Rubik.

We think she strikes a gorgeous look in one of the first pictures shot by Karl Lagerfeld and we can’t wait to get our hands on the rest.

Kate Moss designs a range of handbags for Longchamp

By Andrea Petrou on January 18th, 2010

Kate Moss bags.jpgKate Moss is no stranger to the world of fashion design, and unlike other actresses and models, she does it well.

Her ongoing and successful range for Topshop has had us saving long and hard for some of her pieces, and now it seems her designing conquest is set to continue with news that she’ll be creating a range of handbags for Longchamp.

The model, who has fronted a number of campaigns for the brand will be working under the supervision of Longchamp’s artistic director Sophie Delafontaine to produce the collection thought to be out around the middle of February.

But if you don’t manage to get your hands on one of these this season don’t worry. According to Vogue this is one partnership that won’t be fading out after one season.

Lindsay Lohan named as our worst dressed at the Golden Globe after party awards, while Chloe Sevigny has her dress torn

By Andrea Petrou on January 18th, 2010
11th Annual Warner Brothers And InStyle Golden Globe After-Party

Where’s there’s good, there’s always bad, and that was no different at last nights Golden Globe awards. While many celebrities shone on the red carpet others didn’t, namely Lindsay Lohan.

The unsuccessful Ungaro Creative director showed us once again why she should steer away from a sketch pad when she turned up to the awards after party (as our readers have pointed out) in what can only be described as a sparkled hoodie frock by Brian Lichtenberg .

However, while it was Lindsay’s choice to turn up in a bad frock, spare a thought for Chloe Sevigny. While on the way to collect her award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role (for her part in Big Love), her Valentino dress was ripped as a result of the usher who had escorted her up the steps treading on it.

However we think she handled it quite well. View the video below and let us know what you think.

Who wore what at the Golden Globe awards 2010?

By Andrea Petrou on January 18th, 2010
11th Annual Warner Brothers And InStyle Golden Globe After-Party

HBO's Post Golden Globe Awards Party - Arrivals

It was a night of winners and runners up in last night’s Golden Globe awards and then went for both the fashion and award stakes. Celebrities flocked onto the red carpet for one of the biggest events of the year, which took place in Los Angeles and were hosted by UK home grown Ricky Gervais. So who rocked with their frocks?

First on our rocked list is Drew Barrymore who wowed the crowd with her champagne Atelier Versace, asymmetric dress, which was covered in Swarovski crystals. The starlet also bagged herself an award for her performance in Grey Gardens.
She was followed on the frock stakes by Jennifer Aniston and Penelope Cruz who opted for safe, yet classic black dresses to take them down the red carpet in style.
Other celebs were that little bit braver opting for this season’s colours. This included Cameron Diaz who wore red, Sandra Bullock who chose purple and Maggie gyllenhaal who went for pink.
