January is the month where many of us vow to get fit, or look at quick fix solutions to banish and hide that post Christmas bulge.
If you’re someone who has chosen to take up the first option and sign up to the gym, then you’ll know the importance of having proper sportswear instead of using those old tracksuit bottoms, which have a habit of falling down every two minutes (or is that just me?).
There is a range of good and fashionable fitness wear in the shops, however if you want to go that step further and be a designer gym bunny, there’s only one collection to buy. Yes, you’ve guessed it, Stella McCartney’s Adidas range.
We got quite excited when we saw a glipse of the new SS2010 range last year, which is due out in February. However, if you missed it, we’ve got a video showcasing the latest must have gym wear, which now also includes Triathalon and cylcling wear too.
Stella said: “This collection continues to be a great success, and I’m very excited to introduce Triathalon and Cycling as new categories.
“I’m always trying to push myself and this new collection has everything you need in sports today; it’s sleek, stylish and super sporty!”

With the news that 2010 will see a smaller handbag trend, we’ve emptied our huge bags of all the old clothes, perfumes and note books and begun looking for smaller pastures new.
There is a huge range of smaller bags on the market today and if you can’t quite get over having to carry around the bare minimum you will still be able to get away with a medium sized tote.
We’ve put together a range of smaller daytime bags to help you get this season’s style with ease.

Ladies who got that extra large tote bag they’d been banging on about this Christmas, may want to look away now because this year it’s all about the smaller the better.
According to the Daily Mail, we women have woken up to the fact that carrying around a big bag complete with perfume, a change of shoes and clothes (or is that just us?), is not doing our backs or postures any good at all. It claims that our handbags are now 57% lighter than last year meaning we don’t need that huge bag anymore.
And it’s not just the paper that’s pushing to banish the trend. Celebrities have also been spotted downsizing their bags. One example is big bag offender Katie Holmes who was spotted this month with a much smaller satchel alternative to her previous red Birkin Hermes suitcase oversized bag.

Do you want celebrity shoes at an ethical price? If the answers yes then you’ll love this new range by Beyond Skin.
The brand, which has been favoured by celebs such as Cheryl Cole and Natalie Portman, has just launched a new collection, which will be sold at the newly opened Anthropologie store in London’s Regent Street.
The new collection of ballet pumps are made from vintage fabric, sourced from the charity Traid Remade, they may be tad expensive at £68 a pair but with only around 10 versions of each design made, we think it’s definitely worth it.
And ladies who like their shoes with a bit of height are also in luck. The company will be launching a range of evening styles and a range made from recycled bottle tops in March.
We’ll see you at the tills.

Emma Watson’s not been off our fashion radar this month with ad campaign shots and backstage videos for Burberry coming out in drips and drabs over the past few weeks.
However, this time she’s back on our pages for creative and modelling reasons. Sneak previews of her awaited ethical collection for People Tree have hit the online stands and at first look we can say these togs, modelled by Emma, are looking fashionable and comfortable.
The collection, which was announced back in September last year, is claimed to be 100% ethical with fair trade groups using organic cotton to make the clothes by hand. Apparently the work put into the range also helps improve the lives of disadvantaged workers in Bangladesh, India and Nepal.
And we also love the logos, which include quirky phrases such as “Don’t panic, I’m organic.”
We can’t wait to see the rest of the pictures but until then we want to hear from you. Is this just another celebrity designer trying to get onto the fashion bandwagon?
Take a look at the two pictures and let us know what you think by leaving your comments below.

Take a deep breath ladies because we’ve got some semi naked pictures of Cristiano Ronaldo for you.
We know we concentrate mainly on fashion and female models, but with a male advertising campaign like this we couldn’t resist publishing some snaps, and technically it’s still fashion.
The footballer has taken over from where David Beckham left off and shows off some serious muscles for Armani’s 2010 underwear.
Ronaldo said: “Giorgio Armani is a legend in the fashion world and I have long been a fan of his work.
“I am very pleased with the pictures we have done together – they are certainly striking and are full of attitude and a spirit I can relate to.”
We’re very pleased with the pictures too Mr Ronaldo.

Lauren Bravo writes.
Fashion folk have a great deal of influence, let’s admit it. It’s an admirable feat, the way they can get together, season after season, and persuade us our lives will be significantly enhanced if we only wear velvet pantaloons. Or clogs. Or weave our own hair into a sou’wester.
They do a far better job of earning our trust and discipleship than most politicians. “You know what would look really great?” they say, “a parka covered in sequins.” “Don’t be ridiculous,” we reply. Then three months later, as if out of nowhere, we suddenly think, “Hmm. I’d really like a sequinned parka. In fact, I’d love a sequinned parka. In FACT, I’m not sure how I ever got by without one.”
But they are not infallible. Sometimes, quite regularly in fact, they fail to convince us. There are those trends that seem to resurface in the catwalk reports year, and every year we ignore them. Midi skirts are one. Crimped hair is another. Tuxedos, jodhpurs, dark purple lipstick. Wide-legged jeans have had a good stab at it, but despite the fash pack’s best efforts they’re still being suppressed by the almighty power of the skinny. And then there’s my favourite, the trend they’ve been pushing since Madonna first hoisted herself into the bullet bra: Underwear as Outerwear.
Perhaps I’ve just crossed over and joined the ranks of the optimistic style writers, but I actually think 2010 might be the year this trend sticks. It’s been gathering speed for a while – there were Sienna’s big pants, back in 2007, which didn’t win many fans but did at least keep her kidneys warm. Then Lady Gaga took the look and ran with it, realising that the key to successfully going out in your knicks is to wear something stupid on your head as a distraction.
Meanwhile, everyone from Rhianna to Taylor Momsen has been snapped with their stockings and suspenders on show. And embellished bustiers are working their way seductively onto the high street, as a stylish update on the old lacy-bra-under-a-white-shirt getup so beloved of glamour models. So far, so saucy. But, and we all know this is the acid test, can we get away with the underwear trend in the queue at Tesco? Without being shielded behind the anorak of a concerned pensioner?
I believe it boils down to three basic guidelines:
1. Make it look intentional.
The reason Sienna’s tights-and-spanx combo failed was because it didn’t look like a deliberate outfit choice. It looked like someone had stolen her skirt, potentially a bully after a PE lesson. If the pants had been sequinned, or gold, or had ‘Diva’ written across the cheeks in diamantes, we would have known she was serious and it all would have been ok.
2. Know your audience.
This trend is a rarity among high fashion crazes, in that men like it. Of course they do, you’re wearing your bra in Wetherspoons. Whether this matters to you or not is naturally dependent on your relationship status, orientation, level of strident feminism and ability to take as good as you get when walking past building sites – but still, it’s something to be considered. Personally I’d advise that on male-centric occasions (particularly those featuring Dads, uncles, bosses or bank managers) you forgo the whalebone corset for something more demure. Like a lacy slip that might be a dress or might be a nightie. Or long johns.
3. Don’t skimp.
For those of you thinking “EXCELLENT, I already own underwear! What a recession-friendly trend!” I’m afraid I have to burst your bargainous bubble. Greying M&S scanties do not fulfil the fashion brief (pun intended). The trick to this look is that while it sells itself as underwear, it isn’t really underwear like any mortal ever wears. It needs to be spangled, or showgirly or structured within an inch of its life. So unless you’re Dita Von Teese or Jessica Rabbit, you’re going to need to buy new things. Sorry.
So there we are, let me know how you get on. And if you can’t cope with flashing your undies, there’s always the woven hair hat to try. I’m off to buy a sequinned parka. Goodbye.

Sarah Jessica Parker has been signed up to help design Halston’s Heritage range.
According to WWD The Sex and The City actress will be the brand’s creative director where she will not only oversee the creative side of things, but also have a share of the profits.
We’re not overly familiar with the brand here at ShinyStyle and we think that’s because since it’s relaunch in 2008, many celebrities and magazines have overlooked it. However, Sarah Jessica Parker is already doing her bit to get Halston’s name out there.
She recently wore a £70 little white dress from the fashion house in the advertising posters for Sex and the City 2.
We can’t wait to see what this brand comes up with in 2010, and we’re pretty sure with SJP leading the way, we won’t see any of the disasters Lindsay Lohan demonstrated in her role as Creative Director for Ungaro.

When we first reported on the sunbed ban bill, we bought you a gallery of super tanned celebrities to show you how ridiculous many look when they over do it on radiation machines.
Therefore, with the news that pale Nicola Roberts is supporting the campaign we thought it only right to give you a gallery of pale celebs, who clearly show you don’t need a tan to be beautiful.

Last year we told you about a proposed private members bill, which would ban under 18s in England and Wales from using sunbeds, and we’re pleased to see we’re not the only ones backing the cause.
Last night Girl’s Aloud member Nicola Roberts also put her weight behind the campaign being proposed by Cardiff North’s MP Julie Morgan.
Speaking about her personal experiences the pale red head admitting had felt pressured to have a tan when she was a youngster.
“I was once in a place where I did feel a pressure to have a tan – having a tan made me feel more attractive, it made me feel more accepted and as a young girl being very influenced by peers, by media, by everybody in society, that was just the way I felt… without having a tan I didn’t feel attractive, I just didn’t feel very good at all,” she said.
It is thought that 6 per cent of 11- to 17-year-olds in England have used sunbeds – usually coin-operated, unsupervised, and charging as little as 30p per minute. This figurerises to 20 per cent in Liverpool.

If you love the sophistication and design of a Jimmy Choo shoe, but like many of our readers hate Uggs, then you may want to look away now.
The two footwear companies have just announced they are working together on a collection of women’s sheepskin footwear, which will be hitting the shops in October.
The range, which includes 5 styles made up of different colourways, is said to be based on the traditional Ugg boot and will combine the sophistication of the Jimmy Choo brand we lust after each season.
Tamara Mellon, president of Jimmy Choo said:: “Other than Jimmy Choo, UGG Australia is the only other footwear I have in my wardrobe. We are delighted to have created a special capsule that captures the best of both brands – the legendary comfort of UGG with the spirit of Jimmy Choo.”
However when two well known brands get together the results aren’t cheap. Prices for the range will start from a huge £495.
Are you an Ugg lover who will you be saving up for these? Or do you think these designs will be as ghastly as the traditional sheepskin Uggs?

It’s not a nice time to be in work. The snow’s playing havoc with travelling and lunchtime trips to the shops and post Christmas blues are not making things much better. However we’ve stumbled across something that may brighten up your lunch break, especially for those who have always fancied themselves as fashion designers or want a copy of their favourite celebrity dress.
StyleShake.com lets you design your own clothing, which is then made and delivered to you in 10 days. Design your dress or top and then choose the fabric and fastenings. Yes it’s that simple.
And it’s good news for those of us who are in between sizes or who have trouble choosing between the standard Small, Medium and Large that many online stores offer as you can order a garment to fit your own measurements.
Now this site isn’t new, it’s been around for a few years, but the company has just added a range of new tools to help you get that perfect work outfit.
These include new ‘design parts’, which we think are perfect for banishing those back to work blues and will inspire people to create fabulous new work wear to get some office edge. Included in these are the new pussy bow tie detail that gives a modern take on the classic shirt, and a turned back cuff that adds a tailored element to tops, dresses and shirt-dress designs.
Prices for these clothes are around the same as you would expect to pay on the highstreet, so we say, get online and start designing now. However, we warn you, it’s addictive, so make sure your boss doesn’t catch you doing this while your meant to be working.
Keep reading because next month we’ll be reviewing the site to see how good it really is.

The winter weather across Britain and Europe may have stopped football matches and commutes into work but film premiers haven’t let a few pesky flakes stop them.
Yesterday Rachel McAdams braved freezing temperatures in Berlin, where she wore a a green one shoulder Alberta Ferretti crinkled silk chiffon gown to the German premiere of “Sherlock Holmes”.
She completed the look with 1940s hair, which stayed put throughout the snow.
We’re all for looking good on a night out but would you brave freezing temperatures and go out in a short sleeved top or mini skirt in weather like this?
Let us know by leaving your comments below.

Just as we thought the snow was retreating, we’ve been hit by another burst of the(now) pesky weather. And it’s set to continue.
Last week we bought you a gallery of the top wellington boots to help you get to work in the snow, and with the flakes still falling today we decided that a glove gallery was in order. After all, scraping snow off windscreens in bare hands is painfully hard, as well as throwing snowballs or waiting for delayed public transport without any protection.
We’ve therefore put together a range of fun and fashionable gloves to keep your fingers toasty wherever you are.
