We’ve all felt tempted to step out in our PJs at some point or other.

Usually after the night before when we’ve reached the fridge and found there’s no milk to make that life saving cup of tea. In your student days, if your PJs are designer (dahling), or you’re a celeb who teams them up with Ugg boots you could probably get away with this.

However, it seems the fashion police (in the shape of supermarkets) have jumped into action.

Bosses at a Tesco supermarket in South Wales have banned customers customers from shopping in their pyjamas, after members of the public complained that the sight of people pushing trolleys in their nightwear made them feel uncomfortable and embarrassed.

Those entering the store are now greeted by signs headed Tesco Dress Code Policy. “To avoid causing offence or embarrassment to others, we ask that our customers are appropriately dressed when visiting our store (footwear must be worn at all times and no nightwear is permitted).”

A store spokesman said yesterday: “We’re not a nightclub with a strict dress code, and jeans and trainers are more than welcome.”

Tesco would have a point if people turned up in their nighties or if the pjs were teeny tiny shorts and a top, but we think banning long style bottoms is slightly over the top, will it soon be moving to ban tracksuit bottoms?
