Leona Lewis may have upped her funky fashion game, but everyone knows that when Lady Gaga is at an event, she’ll win the kooky outfit look hands down.
The singer, who dedicated a sombre stage performance to the late Alexander McQueen, turned heads on the red carpet when she walked into the event wearing a three-tiered white dress with a white pompadour wig and lacy mask.
Later on the frock came off to reveal a lace bodysuit, which the singer wore to collect all three of her awards including international categories for best female, best breakthrough act and best album for The Fame.
Leona Lewis made quite a statement at last nights Brit awards and it wasn’t just a fashion one.
The former X-Factor winner who was nominated for a few awards made quite a scene when she learned that foie gras would be served at the event and petitioned to have it removed from the menu.
And PETA’s Rose Glover applauded Lewis’ efforts. “Learning that the BRIT Awards is shunning foie gras is music to our ears. Foie gras is too cruel to produce in the UK, and we’re pleased that BRIT Award organizers have deemed it too cruel to serve.”
The popstar also gets voted as one of our best dressed for her futuristic William Tempest silver asymmetric dress, which she teamed up with an 80s style lace cuff and pink shoes.
We think this short structured number is much better than the usual long frocks Leona usually wears.
Valentine’s Day may well and truely be over for another year but that doesn’t mean we have to stop treating ourselves and our other halves, especially when it comes to lingerie.
And what better way to start than with French lingerie label Fifi Chachnil.
For the first time ever, the company has taken its lovely lingerie out of Paris and bought it to London’s Knightbridge. And there’s a range of stunning underwear including suspender belts to cute bras and knickers to match any personality
On her move across the pond Fifi said: ‘The London girls are daring in their style of dressing, they don’t hesitate, they have audacity and sense of humour, they are excessive but with delicacy.’
We’ve got our credit and Oyster cards at the ready.
Alexa Chung’s fashionista status has just gone up (yes we didn’t think it was possible either).
The model turned TV presenter turned fashion designer presented her debut collection for US brand Madewell at New York fashion week yesterday.
Her designs, which included tea dresses and shorts were inspired by the 1960s and reflected Alexa’s own personal style, especially the grey socks worn with sandals. However our favourite part of the collection has got to be the cute denim dungaree dress.
Of her collection Alexa said: “[Madwell's] vision is kind of the same as mine. They like laid back styles, they like kind of relaxed clothes — classic, timeless things. So when they asked to collaborate, it was a perfect fit.”
We really hope a UK based retailer recognises Alexa’s talents soon because we’re itching to get our hands on some of her creations.
Sarah Jessica Parker looked every inch the fashionista we’ve all grown to know and love her as she stopped by the New York Halston fashion show yesterday.
The SATC actress and newly appointed creative director of Halston went to show her support for the brand dressed in a shiny metallic Halston 80s style gold satin blouse with a modern waisted belt twist.
She teamed this up with black satin ankle trousers and cute black and beige sandals.
And judging how well she wears the brand’s blouse its no surprise she’s also been the face of Halston since September.
Marc Jacob’s show has been one of the most talked about in the lead up to New York Fashion Week, especially following his decision not to invite A-listers to the event this year.
However, being one of our favourite designers, it was also his collection we were excited about and he didn’t disappoint.
The show began in typical Marc Jacob’s style, presenting the audience with a giant box, with a smaller box positioned in front of it. To start the show Marc along with Robert Duffy came into the room and ripped away the brown paper sides to reveal a range of models wearing the AW2010 trends.
The collection included a range of fitted tailored workwear with slight 80s undertones alongside femine fitted evening wear, which consisted of empire line long dresses in metallic fabric and 80s sequined numbers.
Hems stayed no shorter than knee length and paved the way for some stunning dresses and skirts, which although kept the tailored look, were transformed into something that little bit girly through the beige colours and accessories including cute ankle socks and t-bar shoes.
However it’s bad news for PETA because it seems fur is definitely walking into the new season if Marc’s designs have anything to do with it.
Hardly a day goes by when we don’t hear about a celebrity and designer collaboration, but this one has really got us interested.
According to WWD Madonna is in talks with a group of licensees, to launch a women’s collection that would be sold exclusively at Macy’s. It is said to include clothing, lingerie, footwear and accessories.
Although names for the range have not yet been finalised, it is rumoured that some considerations flying around include Material Girl for the clothing and Truth or Dare, which was the title of a 1991 film which followed Madonna’s Blonde Ambition world tour, for the lingerie and underwear.
However, we’re not going to begin planning on how to wear those corsets, skirts and rosary necklaces, which we’re sure Madonna will include in her range, as at present no-one on the Madge camp is confirming anything.
We’ll bring you an update when we know a little bit more so watch this space.
We didn’t think there was anything better than an eco-friendly pair of shoes.
That was until we heard about Melissa’s and Jean Paul Gaultier’s plastic collaboration. The Brazillian footwear label, best known for its partnership with Vivienne Westwood has announced a new range of footwear with Mr Gaultier, which includes a recyclable 10cm plastic stiletto.
The JEAN PAUL GAULTIER X MELISSA stilleto, which launches in June comes in black, beige, lime and tangerine and will cost £160.
This morning we reported that Agyness Deyn took two falls during the Fashion for Relief runway show on Friday night. And we admire her courage for getting right back up there the second, and the third time, where she took her shoes off to complete the walk.
It’s not the first time, and it certainly won’t be the last that a model has fallen over on a catwalk. And ironically it’s Naomi Campbell, who fell over at a Vivienne Westwood show in 1993, that stays in our mind.
We’ve got hold of Agyness’s big fall video, which shows how the model actually fell and we think her get up and walk on attitude is a perfect one to follow. We’ll be doing the same thing next time we slide and fall over because of that pesky piece of ice.
A few weeks ago we gave you a sneak preview of Love Magazine’s new covers featuring a range of supermodels including Lara Stone and Natalia Vodianova in the buff.
And if you loved them as much as we did then you’ll be pleased to hear the pictures aren’t going to disappear anytime soon, instead they’ll be making a far more public appearance.
Gap has created seven styles of grey cotton T-shirt, each bearing a cover from spring/summer 2010′s Fashion Icons issue in aid of the DEC Haiti Earthquake Appeal.
Profits from the £30 t-shirts featuring the full set up of Naomi Campbell, Jeneil Williams, Kristen McMenamy and Daria Werbowy, will see the full on-sale price go towards the DEC Appeal.
However Kate Moss has asked that all profits from T-shirts featuring her image go to a UK children’s charity.
Purses at the ready ladies, especially those of you who like a designer bargain.
Today Narciso Rodriguez has launched an exclusive collection on eBay for those of us mourning the loss of designer creations in our wardrobe due to the credit crunch.
The collection priced from £40 – £225 includes fitted dresses, simple, sleek tailoring and contemporary classics, which will fill the designer wardrobe gap for a good few months.
Rodriguez said, “I am extremely excited by the possibilities that this new online sales channel brings to my business long term.
“For me it’s always been about dressing many women of all ages, all types, all sizes, and this special collection on eBay is a unique opportunity to reach a broad global audience.”
The range is available in sizes 4 to 18, but you better get those fingers on your keyboards now as we don’t think this collection will stay around for long.
Designers and celebrities including Donna Karan, Diane von Furstenberg, Georgina Chapman, Estelle, Kelly Osbourne, Margherita and Missoni leant their names to The Fashion for Relief show last Friday.
Hosted by Naomi Campbell the catwalk show was designed to help the people of earthquake-ravaged Haiti. The supermodel also took to the catwalk in a short, black, sequined flapper dress with sky scraper heels.
However, it wasn’t “alright on the night” for model du jour Agyness Deyn, who took a leaf out of Naomi’s previous book and took a tumble – twice – in her Burberry sandals, before winning our hearts by strutting back, barefoot
She tweeted afterward: “1st show of fashion week! Took a tumble! Got up! Fell again. Should have stayed down the 1st time. Twice! WTF! Ouch my knees!”
There also came a very special and tearful tribute for Alexander McQueen, which included model and Daphne Guinness walking down the catwalk in a glittery, full-length bodysuit from the late designer’s spring collection. Other models including Helena Christensen, Georgina Chapman and Naomi herself followed wearing designer Alexander McQueen from head to toe in tribute.
It seems Lady Gaga will have something to smile about this Valentine’s Day if rumours that she’s back with her ex, designer Matthew Williamson are to believed.
According to InStyle magazine the the kooky singer and her style collaborator and “best friend” have grown increasingly close in the last few months and rekindled their relationship.
The pair previously dated for over a year, but called it off when mixing business and pleasure became too tricky. After they went their separate ways, GaGa dated an entrepreneur named Speedy whilst Matthew became a father in a new relationship. However, neither romance lasted and the pair are now said to be ‘reminiscing’ during GaGa’s Monster Ball tour.
A source told the magazine: “They spend all their time together, and travel everywhere, so it was bound to happen. Speedy dumped her, and Matthew left his girlfriend for Gaga.”
And it’s not just love, it also seems Matthew has been a huge style inspiration to Miss G, coming up with her infamous ‘hair bow’ hair style.
We’ve already put together some galleries of Valentine’s Day outfits and accessories for you, but if you’re still stuck on finding those perfect shoes then boutique Laura J may be a step in the right direction.
