Lindsay Lohan poses as Jesus for Purple Magazine

By Andrea Petrou on March 10th, 2010

Lindsay Lohan for Purple Magazine.jpg

Lindsay Lohan has been surrounded by controversy for a good few years now with the press covering every aspect of her “wild child” lifestyle. She’s been in rehab for drink and drugs, had a much publicised relationship, and fall out, with DJ Samantha Ronson and she’s also been accused of copying designer’s creations, not to mention her disastrous attempt at designing for fashion house Ungaro.

So we’re a little bit torn about this cover for Purple Magazine where Lindsay poses as Jesus. Standing in white with a wreath around her head and in a position reflecting the cross, Lindsay looks ever inch the innocent model.

However, we’re not sure whether the shot, photographed by Terry Richardson, is designed to stir up some controversy or if it’s Lindsay’s way of telling us she’s turning over a new leaf.

Tell us what you think by leaving your comments below.

Jennifer Aniston to launch a fragrance?

By Andrea Petrou on March 10th, 2010

Jennifer Aniston.jpg

Jennifer Aniston is one of the few stars who for so long, has resisted joining the likes of Beyonce, Mariah Carey and Sarah Jessica Parker in launching a fragrance. But it seems she’s finally succumbed.

According to reports in WWD, the actress has signed a deal with the Falic Group- the company that also manages Eva Longoria Parker‘s upcoming fragrance.

Details on the fragrance are still sketchy with Jen’s management not confirming anything at the moment. However rumour has it that it’s taken 20 months for the Friends star to come up with the perfect whiff.

She’s also been struggling on the name, which would sum up the idea of ‘romance and freedom at any age’ in one word. Suggestions for “Aniston” has been turned down by bosses as well as “Echo” and “High Maintenance“.

What do you think Jen should call her scent? Let us know by leaving your comment below.

Lindsay Lohan is no longer designing for Ungaro

By Andrea Petrou on March 9th, 2010

Lindsay and Ungaro sacked.jpg

It seems as though the relationship between Lindsay Lohan and the design house Emanuel Ungaro has come to an end.

Lindsay was employed as the creative director of the brand last year, but after a disasterous fashion show at PFW in September, there was alot of uncertainty whether or not she would stay on And it seems she’s not made the cut.

Ungaro owner Asim Abdullah told WWD backstage at Paris fashion week earlier this week:
“She’s not involved in this collection.”

Lindsay who did not turn up to the show on Monday also told reporters this was because: “Because I don’t work for them anymore.

“There’s legal things going on; I can’t really discuss it,” she said.

Vanity Fair Oscar 2010 after party worst dressed: Selma Blair

By Andrea Petrou on March 9th, 2010

Selma.jpg

Like with the Oscar‘s ceremony we were a little bit hard pressed to find a worst dressed celebrity at the Vanity Fair Oscar 2010 party. Katie Price stuck to Elton’s do, and other celebs really dressed for the occasion.

However, there is always one that gives us an excuse for a little “what was she wearing” comment and we’re sorry to say that these words have fallen on Selma Blair.

We don’t mind the sparkly frock, but the length is a little bit confused for us, sitting too far under the knee and too high up to make it full length. We also think the blazer the actress has teamed it up with is too heavy for the outfit.

And we understand that it was cold, but Selma, really, you’re already wearing a blazer, you don’t need a scarf. Take a look around you and have a think about all those ladies who have braved the freeze without even a shawl.

Vanity Fair Oscar 2010 after party trends: Asymmetric necklines

By Andrea Petrou on March 9th, 2010

There were a range of different trends at this year’s Oscars (metallic stood out for us here), but these also carried on into the after parties. We saw short, black and blue, as well as metaliic at many of these parties.

However one trend that really stuck out at the Vanity Fair after party was asymmetric necklines. These were sported by the likes of Victoria Beckham, who wore the same frock to Elton’s event and the Vanity Fair party, Kate Beckinsdale, who looked stunning in an on-trend silver long dress and Jessica Simpson who spice up anotherwise plain black dress with this neckline.

View out gallery to see who else was on-trend with this style.

Oscars 2010: Best dressed at the Vanity Fair after party

By Andrea Petrou on March 9th, 2010

While Elton and his celebrity clan were living it up at his after party event, other celebrities partied the night away at the Vanity Fair event.

Amanda Seyfried, who thankfully changed out of her bridal red carpet dress, Katy Perry, Cameron Diaz, Amy Adams (who was notedly absent at the actual Oscars ceremony) all made an appearance.

And some, including Victoria Beckham (who wore the same dress) also mixed and matched their evenings attending both.

We’ve put together a gallery of the best dressed.

Jordan wins our worst dressed award for her frock at the 18th Annual Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards.

By Andrea Petrou on March 9th, 2010

Katie Price Oscars.jpg

Many people are pitching Katie Price (AKA Jordan) and Victoria Beckham against each other in the fashion stakes at the 18th Annual Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards.

After all, they’ve been well publicised enemies for many years now. However, we’re not sure who would say Ms Price looked good in her frock, let alone beat a fashionista.

Now don’t get us wrong we generally don’t have a problem with Katie Price (we’re not team Pete or team Price t-shirt wearing girls), however, we have to say that her frock has got to be the worst one of the Elton John after party night.

To be fair on the model, mum and business woman, she kept her (er) assets covered up proving she can be elegant, however, the shiny fabric and huge flowers make her look like a mermaid who got lost in a poppy field.

We think that’s 5-1 to Victoria, Jordan.

Oscar 2010 after party fashion face off: Salma Hayek Vs Milla Jovovich

By Andrea Petrou on March 9th, 2010

Salma Hayek Elton.jpg

Although the actual Oscar’s typically see celebrities opt for long (or in Amanda Seyfried’s case, bridal) dresses, after parties are more likely to be sprinkled with a more casual feel with less beading and shorter frocks.

Milla Jovovich Elton.jpg

Two such celebs that went for this style at the18th Annual Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards were Milla Jovovich and Salma Hayek, who at first glance we thought were wearing the same dress (maybe we need a new pair of glasses).

However at closer inspections we realised that Milla went for a strappy mosaic printed number while Salma took the little dress look to a new level, opting for a satin capped sleeved frock with a structured skirt.

We think both look gorgeous (although with that puffy skirt we can imagine Salma would fit nicely over a few loo rolls), but can’t quite decide who wore it best. So we need your help.

Let us know who you think won the fashion face off by leaving your comments below.

Oscars 2010: The best dressed at the Annual Elton John AIDS Foundation after party

By Andrea Petrou on March 9th, 2010

Oscars 2010: Anna Kendrick’s dress disaster

By laurenbravo on March 8th, 2010

oscar_arrivals131_wenn5440112.jpgWe all know what it’s like to have a last-minute outfit crisis (read about my own dress failures here), but few of us have the pressure of the Oscars to contend with.So we felt for poor Anna Kendrick when we heard that she had a wardrobe disaster only a few days before the cermony.

The Up in the Air star, who was nominated for Best Supporting Actress, revealed that she was forced to find a whole new outfit this week, when her special couture dress failed to live up to expectations. “There was another dress that was being made,” Kendrick said. “The designer will remain nameless… It was not for me. It was blue.”

Had she stuck with the original dress she would have been in good company, with Mariah Carey and Maggie Gyllenhaal among the stars who also chose blue. But as it was, we thought the actress was one of the most memorable attendees, picking upon this season’s nude trend with her beautiful blush-pink chiffon gown. Not too bad for something you threw on at the last minute, Anna…

Oscars 2010: Every gown has a silver lining…

By laurenbravo on March 8th, 2010

Kathryn Bigelow.jpgIt’s the one trend we didn’t see coming, and a reminder that sometimes red carpet fashion strays away from the catwalk and finds inspiration elsewhere. In this case, bacofoil. From Kate Winslet‘s stunning srapless sheath (was I the ony one who thought she looked like a hot, female version of the statuette award itself?) to Helen Mirren‘s soft grey Badgley Mischka and Elizabeth BanksVersace ruffles, silver was the night’s surprise contender.

Sure, the colour has occasional connotations of bad sci-fi or those blankets they wrap aound olympic athletes, but when done well it makes a sultry and elegant choice. Particular praise is due to director Kathryn Bigelow, who became the star of the night in a fittingly silver gown when her filmThe Hurt Locker scooped six awards, including Best Picture.

Looking understatedly gorgeous, Bigelow gave us a pang of feminine pride as she became the first woman in history to win the Academy Award for Best Director – a vistory made all the sweeter as she triumphed over her ex-husband James Cameron, whose film Avatar only took home three oscars.

Check out our gallery of metallic dresses to see who else was a shining example of the trend.

Oscars 2010 trends: Metallic dresses

By Andrea Petrou on March 8th, 2010

Kathryn Bigelow.jpg

There were a few trends at this year’s Oscar awards, notably blue, which was worn by Mariah Carey, Maggie Gyllenhaal and winner Mo’Nique.

Meryl Streep, Diane Kruger and Amanda Seyfried also flew the flag for white.

However, the biggest trend of the year has got to be metallics, which were worn by everyone from Sarah Jessica Parker to Miley Cyrus. These shades came in pale golds, dark golds and also silvers, which were worn by Kate Winslet and Oscar winner and Hurt Locker director Kathryn Bigelow.

We put together a gallery of the best metallic dresses.
