A few weeks ago Katie Price came under our Shinystyle spotlight for announcing that she was thinking of creating a range of make-up for children and judging by your votes many of you agreed that it was encouraging children to grow up too quickly.
And it seems she’s not the only one accused of encouraging this. Primark this week has come under fire from MPs and parenting charities after its decision to sell padded bikinis for 7 year olds.
Following complaints Primark issued a statement claiming: The company has stopped the sale of this product line with immediate effect. Primark will donate all the profits made from this product line to a children’s charity, and apologises to customers for any offence caused.’
But it doesn’t look as though the chain will be getting off that easily as yesterday politicians were still furious
Mr Cameron said yesterday: ‘There is a classic example today where Primark are apparently pushing padded bras on seven-year-olds, which I think is completely disgraceful.
‘The sort of country I want is one where it is not just the Government that feels outraged about the early commercialisation and sexualisation of our children, but companies should stop doing it, they should take some responsibility,’ he added.
Do you think Primark behaved immorally by selling these bikinis or do you think it’s just a lot of fuss over nothing. Vote and leave your comments below and let us know.
We all want to live the life of a celebrity, but sadly for most of us we can’t afford the endless amount of grooming, pampering and pilates to get in tip top shape…until now that is.
Thanks to Wahanda we can now get the crème de la crème of deals, which basically lets us get pampered and preened like a celebrity at ridiculously affordable prices.
The Wahanda MobDeal, is an incentive that has been around for a few months and if we’re honest, we’ve been keeping this to ourselves for some time (sorry Shinystylers we promise we’ll never hide our secrets from you again.)
It works by giving members a new beauty deal, which goes live from midnight to midnight each day and works through “group buying” to get us treatments such as massages, spa days, hair cuts and pedicures for as little as £10 a day.
Now we realise we’ve shot ourselves in the foot by not telling you before because for the deal to work a minimum number of sales has to be achieved per deal, this number varies by day and by deal.
Once you buy your deal, a voucher is sent to your email with a special code to redeem your deal and best of all, Wahanda is giving something back – for every MobDeal purchase made, Wahanda will donate £1 to charity:water to continue supporting their great cause of bringing fresh water to communities.
We felt very sorry for Kate Moss, and ourselves for that matter, when we learnt that her Kate Moss Myth exhibition in Paris had been cancelled.
The event, which was due to be hosted at Les Arts Décoratifs in Paris, and showcase some of the important parts of the supermodel’s life through photography, was pulled last week due to funding.
However, Miss Moss has now sprung back. A photo of the fashionista has been selected
to be auctioned off to raise funds for Crisis, a homeless charity supported by Prince William.
It is hoped the portrait of the model wearing a torn veil and taken in 1993 in Marrakech by Albert Watson, will raise a substantial amount of cash for charity.

It’s a word that inspires joy in some of us and horror in others; but like it or loathe it, boho finds its way back into our wardrobes season after season.
Ever since Sienna donned those gypsy skirts, ever since Nicole Ritchie went maxi, ever since we discovered repeats of Little House on the Prairie on Sky, folksy fashion has had a firm place at the heart of British style.
We’ve already told you how you should be wearing the look in 2010, and now we’ve taken the trouble of finding you the best new boho pieces out there… aren’t we good to you?
Our three keys to getting it right are: smoosh, swish and stomp. Or in grown-up terms, messing it up, abundant fabric, and shoes that mean business. If you’re a reluctant hippie, break yourself in gently with a denim shirt, lacy frock and floppy hat, while for bolder bohemians, there are maxi dresses, clogs and gingham to explore.
So plait your hair, grab your lassoo and get yourself down the shops. Oh, and just a word of warning – no Uggs allowed. This isn’t 2004, love.
Like them or loafe (sorry) them, loafers are making a huge come back this season.
They were hot at London Fashion Week catwalk shows back in September and a range of top designers have already begun launching these styles into the retail space.
One example is Miu Miu, which has launched a capsule shoe collection for Spring 2010.
The range will hit stores in May and has taken it’s inspiration from classic men’s shoes (hence the loafer).
Now we know they aren’t everyone’s cup of tea but we’ve decided to put together a gallery anyway for those who will be donning these this summer, and remember there’s sometimes nothing better than a flat shoe, especially when it’s in-trend.
If you have a love of designer handbags and are one of those girls who would sacrifice their right arm than see their bag rest on the floor or get dirty, then you may want to stop reading now.
We love Lady Gaga but we’re shocked at what she’s done to her Birkin bag on the leg of her Monster’s Ball tour in Japan. The singer was snapped walking through the airport carrying a bright white Birkin with the message ‘I love Little Monster, Tokyo love’ scribbled across it in Japanese Katakana characters.
Little Monsters, in case you were wondering, is the term she uses for her hundreds of fans.
And yes, we’re still one of those, but next time Ms G maybe you can use wipe off ink?
We’re definitely more fashion than “find a job” but when we heard rumours that Victoria Beckham was on the hunt for a new PA, we didn’t think we could keep it a secret (see how good we are to you?)
The style icon, ex singer and one of the luckiest women alive (she gets to share a bed with David Beckham) is apparently on the hunt for a new member of staff to plan her lunches with celebrity friends, design meetings and probably her fitness schedule too.
According to The Mirror, the fashionista has gone into meltdown after her old PA was forced to leave her position after being denied a visa extension in the States. And Ms Beckham wants a replacement fast.
A source told The Mirror: ‘It’s the best job in the world – glamorous, exciting and varied but pretty full-on. It’s been chaos for Victoria without a PA, she is getting frantic.’
Think you’ve got the nerve and organisation for it? Get in touch with Posh’s peeps now, and let us know why you think you’d be good for the job… we’re just curious.
The summer festival season is one of the most exciting times of the year, and now it’s one of the most giving, too thanks to H&M.
On 20th May 2010 the retail store will launch its third Fashion Against AIDS campaign and this year it’s going for a festival feel, creating a themed collection and donating 25% of proceeds to the youth HIV/AIDS awareness projects.
The range will be sold as part of the company’s Divided brand and will include a mix of rock with bohemia and glamour with added ethnic touches. Denim hotpants or patterned leggings are matched with embellished tunic tops, while maxi-dresses are toughened up when worn with leather jackets. Gladiator shoes, chunky bracelets, wide belts and beaded necklaces complete the look, while tribal print headphones give an extra twist.
And if that wasn’t enough you can also get your hands on tents and sleeping bags.
Ann-Sofie Johansson, H&M’s head of design, said: “For me, festivals are unique and inspirational places as they join both music and fashion. To see your favourite bands, to see creative people gathered, all from different nations and with different looks really inspires me.
“It is very important to make people aware of the problem with AIDS and HIV and we want to contribute in the fight against the disease by donating some of the sales from this collection.”
As well as raising funds for the fight against HIV and AIDS, H&M hopes to raise awareness about safe sex among the young by donating to such an important cause.

However, her life is still on the up. The singer has announced she’ll be following in the footsteps of famous celebs and launching her own fragrance. She wrote on her Twitter page: “I’m developing my own fragrance, so just wearing my signature scent now – getting it right :- So much fun.”
“Just doing a girly fragrance, but would love to do a men’s one too as I wear a lot of men’s fragrance!”
Is this starlet overtaking her popular sister in the fame stakes? We think she might be…
Way back last year we bought you the first pictures of Britney Spears’ ad campaign for Candies, and at the time we commented how hot we thought she looked (maybe if we’re completely honest we also had a touch of the green eyed monster too.)
However, we’ve just stumbled amongst the pictures of the star that are unretouched.
According to the
, Brit’s always wanted these to be used but the brand originally released the retouched pics.
So the brand came to a compromise and decided to release both shots as part of the campaign. Frankly, we think her original pics are so much better than the edited versions, which make Brits look thinner, smoothed her skin, and skinnier round the er, crotch area. It’s nice to see she’s as normal as the rest of us.
Tell us what pic you prefer by leaving your comments in the box below.
The stars once again donned their best frocks last night and hit the red carpet to celebrate the New York premiere of Rossini’s Armida at The Metropolitan Opera House, which judging by the fashion pieces on show, was aptly sponsored by YSL.
Maggie Gyllanhaal wowed in her on-trend nude frock complete with YSL heels, while Chloe Sevigny took a gamble on a love it or loathe it jumpsuit, which we think she pulled off brilliantly.
However our winner of the night has got to be Camilla Belle who really took the red carpet look to the next level with her YSL chiffon frock complete with an onversized on-trend bow.
View the gallery below and tell us who your best dressed of the night is.
In our last post we bought you the news that Leona Lewis would be performing the theme song for the new film, out 27 May, and now we’ve managed to get our hands on a new poster for the movie.
The ad features Sarah Jessica Parker (aka Carrie) strutting her stuff in a gorgeous ethnic style silk frock across the desert. We love her theatre style glasses and trademark super high shoes too.
We’re booking our seats as soon as they go on sale.
We know you’re as excited as we are about Sex And The City 2, and we’re even more jittery now that we’ve seen the second official trailer (click here if you missed it).
So imagine our glee when we found out Leona Lewis would be playing a part in the SATC craze. The brit singer and X-Factor winner is rumoured to be singing on the sequel’s main theme song alongside Jennifer Hudson, who Carrie’s assistant Louise in the first film.
“They each have incredible voices and will appeal to both the UK and the US.
“It’s perfect for the next SATC film.”
Fab fashion, men and now good music, is there nothing that this film has missed?
We’ve always been in awe of tall girls who can get away with wearing flats without looking too short and still show off their long legs. However, it seems it’s a case of what you haven’t got, you want, as we know many taller ladies who lament their height and want to be an average 5’5.
Now we do have some sympathy, after all figures show that only 1% of the clothing industry caters for women 5’8 and above. And it seems Long Tall Sally agrees.
The retailer has put together the National Stand Tall Week, which takes place at their various stores and aims to tall woman an insight into the world of tall fashion.
Visit the high street stores London and Manchester outlets where you’ll be able to browse the fantastic collections and receive 20% off. And if you’re still not tempted then how about we tell you about the free glass of champagne?
We’ll see you there between the 14th and 15th April
