Karl Lagerfeld designs a bottle for Coca-Cola Light

By Andrea Petrou on April 6th, 2010

Karl and Coke.jpg

Karl Lagerfeld is no stranger to the food industry. Last month he had a salad named after him in a swanky Paris restaurant and now it seems the designer has gone from the bubbly heights of fashion to the fizzy fortunes of erm, Diet Coke.

Mr Lagerfeld has teamed up with Coca-Cola Light in France, where he designed a special aluminium bottle capped in vivid pink and adorned with his unmistakable, emphatic silhouette – dark suit, high collar, jutting ponytail.

And he also shot the ad campaign, which features models Coco Rocha and Lagerfeld regular Baptiste Giacobini.

The ads will hit France on April 28 and we really hope they make a gradual move into the UK too.

Victoria Beckham embarks on a new fitness craze

By Andrea Petrou on April 6th, 2010

Victoria Beckham

We’ve seen many a celebrity fitness and spiritual trends over the past few years. Cupping, Kabbalah and the tamer pilates, you name it, we’ve heard about it. And now there’s a new kid on the fitness block.

According to Heat magazine super skinny Victoria Beckham has become a fan of Yogalosophy, which is a combination of yoga and astrology. The designer who has previously admitted she hates the gym is said to have embraced the craze which she can practice in her own home.

The exercise programme involves two 30-minute yoga routines, followed by a 55-minute series of poses – designed to help weight loss and increase muscle definition.

‘She bought the Yogalosophy DVD and does her workout at home up to four times a week to ‘align her mind and spirit’,’ an inside source told Heat magazine.

‘She’s really starting to notice the difference.’

So if that Easter egg fest got a bit too much over the weekend and you don’t want to hit that treadmill this may be a perfect way to get fit too.

Kelly Osbourne fronts St Tropez campaign

By Andrea Petrou on April 6th, 2010

We’ve always liked Kelly Osbourne, she’s feisty, sassy and of course has two very cool parents, so you can imagine how excited we were when we came across her first campaign for St Tropez.

The daughter of Ozzy and Sharon, who shed a lot of weight thanks to her stint in US dance show Dancing with the stars, has become the face of the fake tan brand’s Self Esteem campaign. Its aim is to tackle the body image issues of young women everywehere.

And we can’t think of a better cause for the young starlet to front.

Gallery: Lighten up with the best spring jackets

By laurenbravo on April 6th, 2010

It’s that time-old dilemma. As Buddy Holly (nearly) sang: the sun is out, the sky is blue, there’s not a cloud to spoil the view, but it’s Britain… and it might turn crap.

It’s quite a momentous decision, every year, the first time you leave the big winter coat at home and venture out unprotected. Will the heavens suddenly open? Will everybody look at you in the street with admiration, you the poster girl for carefree summer style, or will they be thinking “you’re not in Florida love, put a jumper on”?

Then there’s the confidence issue. Many women confess to hating our upper arms (the day designers learn to recognise that little pocket of armpit flab that oozes out of strappy dresses will be a day to celebrate), and with few spring/summer clothes giving us that sacred gift, the sleeve, we end up forced into myriad of cardigans and cover-ups that make us feel like Lorraine Kelly at a wedding.

No more. This season, the spring jacket has really come into its own, with a variety of gorgeous fabrics, shapes and colours that say “fashion statement” rather than “I’m hiding my visible bra straps”. There’s last year’s biker jacket, revamped from traditional black into soft pinks and creamy ice cream shades. Then there’s a continuation of the underwear-as-outerwear trend with lacy, silky, bed jackety affairs (aim for 30s boudoir rather than Sybill Fawlty’s sickbed), and some fantastic floral pieces to team with plain separates and let do all the talking.

Keep the shape cropped, the colours breezy and the fit trim. Oh, and don’t forget an umbrella… there’s not a cagoule in sight.

Angelina Jolie enquires about the welfare of horses before she wears her horse hair bag

By Andrea Petrou on April 1st, 2010

Celebrities aren’t shy about wearing controversial fashions, with many spotted wearing fur last season. However, one animal conscious starlet put the animal’s feelings first when she decided to buy a horse hair bag.

According to WWD Angelina Jolie asked her stylist to check with Swiss label Akris that no horses had been harmed, before she stepped out with the bag.

Akris designer Albert Kriemler told WWD “We told her horses get haircuts just like we do.”

This has obviously appeased Ange because she’s not held back in showing it off ever since.

Gallery: Easter jewellery and accessories

By Andrea Petrou on April 1st, 2010

We’ve got that Friday feeling today because tomorrow it’s the start of the Easter Bank holiday weekend.

As well as consuming shed loads of chocolate (well it’s the only time of the year we don’t really need an excuse) it’s also about putting our fashion foot forward and showing off our Easter style.

There are a range of accessories and fun Easter bits out there and thanks to the Alice in Wonderland and floral trends this year, jewellery such as bunny pendants, bracelets and floral earings are hugely popular.

We’ve put together a gallery of Easter jewellery and accessories to make sure you stay on-trend this bank holiday weekend.

Amanda Seyfried admits to having a “naughty” tattoo

By Andrea Petrou on April 1st, 2010

Am.jpg

Yesterday we put together a gallery of the best celebrity tattoos, but in our haste it seems we missed one crucial piece of art work, and that’s the tatt of Amanda Seyfried.

The actress who comes across as cute and innocent, has admitted she has a naughty tatt on her inner left foot, which spells out the not so tasteful word “Minge”. According to sources the star learnt the word from Colin Firth on the set of ‘Mama Mia!

The actress recently said of her, er, artwork: “It’s a nickname, it’s evolved into kind of an endearing term, a term of endearment. I don’t really take that many things seriously so I thought, ‘Hey, why not?’

“I wanted to know what a tattoo felt like. I got it in October, and a couple of us have it. ‘Minge’ [is] slang in Britain for like, ‘vagina.’ I don’t know, a lot of people think I don’t know what it means, but I’ve lived there before I know what it means.”

Many of us are more than aware of what that means Amanda.

A day rarely passes without a celebrity endorsement announcement and today is no different.

Olay has announced that Thandie Newton will be the face of their Total Effects range and will also appear in the new advertising campaign to celebrate the brand’s tenth year in the UK.

Thandie told our fashion friends over at Grazia magazine: ‘When filming, my working day is hectic, so trying to strike a balance between work, a family and time for myself can be challenging….Olay is a brand I trust and I love the fact that the range offers me an all-in-one, anti-ageing moisturiser which takes care of all my skincare needs.’

Olay also seem to be pleased with their new recruit. It said in a statement: “Thandie’s pragmatic approach to a beauty routine ensures her skincare is as multi-tasking as she is.”
