Yesterday we gave you a gallery of our top 5 flat summer shoes, which are hot this season. However we know many of you out there like a little bit of height with your summer outfits, after all heels can add inches and turn a maxi dress or a playsuit from a casual to a smart outfit.

There’s a huge choice of heels out on the highstreet at the moment ranging from clogs, as shown at Chanel’s SS2010 shows and worn by Alexa Chung, to platforms, which give a nod to the 80s trends that are infiltrating this season’s style.

However, one of our favourite looks at the moment are sexy strappy sandals, which give a nod to the gladiator trend. Team up with shorts for a smart festival look (although you may have problems if it’s raining) or a maxi dress or skirt for a sophisticated BBQ look.
