If you’re not a fan of skiing but heart that cosy, kitsch Alpine look, then it’s good news because one of this season’s hottest trends is all about the Alpine look.
Cosy, chunky knitwear with deer print, bobble scarves and hats, fur boots and gilets were all sent down the catwalk by designers including Max Mara, D&g, Missoni and Chanel, emulating warmth, giving a nod to the Sound of Music and ensuring we’ll be staying warm throughout the cold winter.
The key to this look is layering. Team up thick knitted leggings with skirts and gilets over Tees or take inspiration from the designers and team up fur with chunky knits for a glam take on this look.
We’ve been talking about stylish reality show judges for a few weeks now. Last week we put together a gallery of the most stylish judges and we also put Cheryl Cole’s and Katy Perry’s X-Factor style to the test after the California Girls singer appeared as a guest judge on the show.
Cheryl Cole came out victorious with 70 percent of you voting for her style over Katy’s quirky fashion sense. But do you feel the same when it comes to Natalie Imbruglia vs Cheryl Cole?
Both women seem to channel the same looks opting for long frocks on a night out, hats and sunnies for airport appearances and short, yet smart frocks for the X-Factor auditions. However, while Natalie played it safe in a purple dress, Cheryl went for daring crochet. Cheryl is also a lot more daring with her stage outfits opting for PVC, split trousers and hoods while Natalie is happy being casual in trainers and jeans whilst she’s performing.
But who wins your overall vote? Take a look at the gallery of both women below and then vote and let us know.
Another weekend and another tabloid has spilt the beans on another footballer.
Just as we had recovered from the shock of Peter Crouch’s infidelity, The Daily Mirror has now uncovered the dirty deeds of Wayne Rooney.
According to the article, which came out yesterday, Wayne paid for secret hotel sex sessions with a £1,000-a-night prostitute while Coleen was pregnant with their son. The Man United and England player reportedly slept with brunette Jennifer Thompson, 21, seven times over four months as well as taking her out on dates.
We thought Wayne had got over his bad boy ways after his stint in 2004 where he was named and shamed for cheating on Coleen with prostitutes. Although she took him back then, the Mirror said that Wayne now expects his wife to throw him out of their £5million mansion in Cheshire. “My life is in ruins…I’ve been so stupid. Coleen won’t forgive me this time. She will leave me,” he reportedly told a friend.
We’re quite shocked at these reports considering the couple, who met at school and got married in 2008, seemed to have rebuilt their relationship. Coleen has grown from a bushy haired school girl into a stylish, designer icon, who has a range of successful ventures under her belt, making us think Wayne has made a huge mistake.
We’ve put together a gallery of Coleen to show Wayne what he’s lost, as well as pictures of the pair in happier times.
It was fairly quiet on the celebrity front in London over the weekend, as stars either decided to stay in and rest or jet off across the pond from some US action.
However, there were some ladies that decided to stick around. Victoria Beckham decided to fly into London, turning up for dinner at Gorden Ramsey’s Maze restaurant with BFF Eva Longoria. Both women looked stunning with Posh opting for a sexy black cocktail dress, while Eva went for a silver boatneck shift number.
Whilst they dressed up, other celebs went for a more casual look. Katy Perry stepped out of her London hotel in a on-trend camel jumper and jeans, while Geri Halliwell opted for denim at a charity event. However she accessorised her outfit with a giant yellow snake a la Britney Spears. X Factor runner up Stacey Solomon went for skinny jeans for an appearance on This Morning as did Kelly Brook for the Mayor’s Skyride event.
In the heart of London Frankie Sandford from The Saturdays went for smart shorts for a night out, which she teamed up with gladiator heels and a smart blazer.
Beyonce has achieved a huge amount in her young life.
She’s married a superstar rapper (Jay Z in case you’ve been asleep), been part of a successful girl band, and taken over the pop world as a solo artist. And if that wasn’t enough she’s also got a successful clothing line, House of Dereon and a beauty line.
And just when we though she could do no more she’s also starred in the film Dreamgirls and has a range of ads from Pepsi to Loreal under her belt.
Trench coats have been hanging out silently throughout the SS2010, providing us with a welcome waterproof option during the rainy months. However, as the AW2010 season approaches they’ve come from the back of the store into the front rails in a range of colours ready to provide more shelter for the upcoming months.
The best thing about this trend is that it’s classic. It comes in every year and is always a favourite on catwalks, notably at Burberry. However, as other trends come into the spotlight, this look is altered to fit in. Therefore this year the classic trench has been given a range of different facelifts, from military to puff ball to on-trend colours such as camel.
Here’s our top five for the upcoming season.
It’s been a busy couple of days for celebrities who have been hitting the capital for partying and work.
Katy Perry made an appearance outside her London hotel channelling the geek chic trend in a polka dot dress and thick rimmed glasses, while Fearne Cotton went for the vintage trend in a purple 50s style frock and ankle boots for her day at work.
Alexa Chung also hit the town in a little black leather frock and gave a nod to the animal print look with a cute leopard print bag, while Amelle Berrabah went for a super smart look in a strapless body con dress. And the smart look also carried on with Elizabeth Hurley opting for an electric blue dress for the Patrick Cox party and Sophie Anderton, a black dress for a night out with her hubby.
More casually dressed celebs this week included Frankie Sanford and Rochelle Wiseman who went for jeans on their days out, and Pixie Geldof who opted for a retro Eminem tee for her night out in Bungalow 8.
It’s that time of the year again. X-Factor has taken over our Saturday nights and soon we’ll be fighting over whether to watch this or Strictly Come Dancing, which may be running at the same time.
Then, once the fireworks, which always pop up to announce the X-Factor winner in December, are out, it’s time for Britian’s got Talent, America’s got Talent and American Idol. And let’s not forget all the other reality shows in between.
Currerntly Sky One is playing host to Must be the Music and Living is considering another series of it’s dance show “The time of your life” and let’s also not Dancing on Ice.
As much as we love the contestants on all of these shows, being fashion girl’s the main draw is of course the judges whose style always leaves us drawling. Of course there’s Cheryl Cole and Dannii Minogue but who can forget Alisha Dixon on Strictly, Charlotte Church in BBC show Over the rainbow and Kimberley Wyatt in Sky One’s Just Dance.
We’ve put together a list of our top stylish reality show judges including those guest one’s on this year’s X-Factor. Tell us who your favourite is.
Demi Moore and her hubby Ashton Kutcher are no strangers to Twitter, keeping fans updated with their lives. However, Demi has now gone one step further giving her fans a treat.
The 47-year-old actress posted a series of pics posing in a skimpy bikini on her Daily Booth photo feed, taken with her iPhone in front of a mirror.
Showing off her amazing bod, she Tweeted the attached message, ‘Maybe this is more like summer!’.
We think Demi looks absolutely amazing and it’s inspired us to stop moping and get ourselves back down to the gym. But has she always looked this good? We delve into her past to have a look.
View the gallery below for the changing faces of the star.
The holidays are well and truly over, unless of course your lucky enough to be on your way to Ibiza closing parties, or have bagged yourself a late September deal (can we come in your suitcases?).
And that means that your summer workwear wardrobe may be looking a little bit tired. Yes we know it’s slightly depressing having to fold away those summer maxi dresses and cute cropped trousers that saw you through the past through months but look on the bright side… it’s time to go shopping and get yourself a new autumn work wear wardrobe. Due to the huge amount of trends floating around this season, smart dressers are spoilt for choice. Thanks to the 50s trend, vintage style frocks are a good option, while the lingering military trend means you can get away with blazer jackets in this style.
Then of course, there’s the traditional blouses and suits (camel and tan trousers are going to be huge if you’re not worried about the rain) updated to this season’s style.
The Venice Film Festival has kicked off for another year, and Hollywood’s A-listers are already strutting their glam stuff on and off the red carpet.
Jessica Alba was one of the first celebrities to be spotted at the 67th event turning up to her hotel in a cute white ruffled skirt. She later changed into a stunning strapless mini dress complete with a long train, which she teamed up with cage heels for the Machete premier.
Natalie Portman also wowed when she turned up in a plain, yet glam strapless blue frock for the photocall of Black Swan before taking her look one step further in a gorgeous red dress for the premier, while Isabella Ragonese opted for a long ballgown monochrome strapless frock for the event.
And Naomi Campbell also made an appearance turning up in a black puff style black mini-frock and cage heels for a dinner held by Quentin Tarrantino.
If our fairy shoe mother was to give us £1000 we’d head straight to Christian Louboutin and buy a pair of his red soled shoes.
Part of us would want to cherish them, probably never wear them outdoors for fear that we would get the sky scraper heel caught in a drain or spill something nasty on the lovely leather or pretty patent. While the other part would want to take them everywhere we went just to show we had a pair.
However because celebrities can afford more than a pair they tend to do the latter strutting around in their red soled beauties and making us drawl.
Serial red sole flashers include Coleen Rooney who is hardly ever snapped without a pair on her lucky feet, Cheryl Cole who likes to flash these, and Rihanna.
And even Posh who in the past has had problems because of wearing skyscraper heels can’t keep herself away from these.
We’ve put together a gallery of Louboutin loving celebs and their gorgeous shoes. We feel a touch of the green eyed monster coming on…
We were disappointed when we heard that Kate Moss is set to end her partnership with Topshop after four years designing for the brand.
Earlier this week the model said she was ending her stint with the retail firm after 13 collections citing ‘other commitments’ as the reason for the split (we hope it’s not because of her jam making).
The collection, which began in 2007, will end after her 14th collection goes on sale in October and although the rumour mill has gone into overdrive claiming there have been spats between Ms Moss and her BFF Philip Green who is looking for another designer, both claim it’s a mutual decision.
Phil told The Times: ‘There have been no dramas and we don’t need a new muse.
‘There is only one Kate and we are not looking for a replacement.’
From starting out as a model in her teen years Kate has had a successful range of contracts from Burberry to Rimmel and despite her little hiccup where she was snapped taking drugs, the model has turned it around, dumping Pete Doherty and finding love with Jamie Hince. We have a look at a very small snapshot of her life so far.
Forget about smart and sophisticated, because one huge trend marching into the highstreet this A/W is Geek Chic.
Thick rimmed glasses, knitted preppy jumpers, brogues and socks up to the knees were all huge on the catwalks with designers such as Henry Holland channelling this trend and taking inspiration from TV shows such as Glee and Ugly Betty.
And this trend has already been picked up by celebrity fans with Alexa Chung and Chloe Sevigny leading the way and Britney Spears has also given a nod to this trend donning thick glasses for a daytime look.
So pull up your thick cable knitted socks/tights, grab that cardigan and satchel and get geeky.
Here’s our top five Geek Chic must haves.
Ladies, it’s time to confess. Hands up who has seen Sir Alan Sugar in his boardroom and felt themselves getting a little bit hot under the collar, or watched Phil Spencer doing his stuff on Location, Location, Location and wished he would come knocking at their door?
Who has no interest in cooking but sat and watched Gordon Ramsey in action for an hour, and how many of you are thinking of going into politics just because you maybe might get the opportunity to stroke Boris Johnson’s straw like hair?
Yes, these scenarios may sound wrong, but let us tell you there’s no need to hide away in shame because believe it or not, there are hundreds of women who have similar embarrassing crushes.
We spoke to friends, readers and scoured forums to find out who your top 15 embarrassing celebrity crushes were and we even put in our own (Robson Green) to make you feel better about yourselves.
