We couldn’t have a designer of the year round-up without mentioning the amaze Burberry.
Led by Christopher Bailey, the quintessential British brand’s designs have been stunning this year.

The AW 2010 range bought shearling and aviation onto this season’s highstreet, and made us drawl with the range of big aviation and military pea coats as well as parkas and trench coats. All were heavily embellished with leather, buckles and zips, which contrasted with the flimsy dresses worn underneath with thigh high boots.

Hues included olive green, brown and black. There were even a few fuscia pink numbers, as well as one or two lace blouses whose ruffles and colours gave a nod to the late 80s.
And of course, the fabric du jour, fur, also made a huge appearance on collarless and aviation style jackets as well as calf length buckled boots.

Burberry’s SS2011 collection was equally as exciting and again makes us long for the sun.
Models, including Jordan Dunne marched down the runway in leather trousers and fitted jackets.

Some jackets were beige, some black, some were leather. Others were trimmed with leather and PVC, while some had shoulders encrusted with studs. Many also had the 50s skinny waisted belt, which looks to be huge next year.

Leopard print made an appearance on jackets, dresses with zip detailing and a gorgeous strapless top, as did snakeskin in greens, whites, blues and blacks.

And just as we thought Christopher had forgotten all about the feminine line that is becoming so prominent in the SS2011 trends, out came the ruffled pastel coloured dresses with zip detailing. They were also given a contrasting rockier edge with the biker jackets Christopher teamed them up with.

Other dresses gave a nod to the 60s, with high necks and a loose satin silhouette. However we don’t envy those models who had to walk down that slippery catwalk in super high heels and we really don’t blame them for sliding all over the place.
