The nominations for the 68th Golden Globes were announced yesterday by Hollywood actress Katie Holmes. With several British nominees, including The King’s Speech which has seven chances to win, we could see a royal flush when the awards take place in January.

Quirky yet cool Brit actress Helena Bonham Carter is up for Best Supporting Actress, while Colin First has been nominated for Best Actor in Drama for his portrayal of King George VI. Geoffrey Rush and Idris Elba have also been nominated for their performances in The King’s Speech and BBC police drama Luther, respectively.

Widely seen as an indication of Oscar success, the Golden Globes will be a fashionable display as the hopeful actors and actresses descend en masse to the red carpet.
