David Koma got it spot on with his AW 2011. The Russian born designer who has dressed the likes of Cheryl Cole, Beyonce and Lady Gaga decided to take inspiration from avant garde Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama.
Keeping in with the AW 2011 polka dot look, which was also seen on the catwalk of Marc Jacobs, Koma used this design on tight straight skirts and dresses with 3D holographic faces.
Spots were also reinterpreted as laser-cut disks on leather capes as well as on coats.
In fact the only time Koma steered away from these was when he was using brightly coloured fur pom-poms on shoulders and around the neck.
It’s no wonder he’s designing for Topshop.
