Samantha Cameron was watching in the front row as Joanna Sykes displayed her first collection for Aquascutum.
That’s pressure enough to get it right and thankfully, she did an outstanding job.
Sykes used the labels British heritage as the basis for the collection but gave it a modern, and her own, twist with her statement sharp clean lines and cuts as well as playful colours and textures.
Bold colours, including shade du jour orange, spiced up traditional tailoring, featuring in trousers and skirts, while layering also made an appearance with shorts under dresses and tights.
Outerwear also got a Sykes boost with the trench being given a touch of shearling and the puff jacket getting a look in too.
Add to that jumpsuits, delicate chiffon blouses and silk dresses and the collection screams traditional Aquascutum with a touch of 2011.
