Safor is launching a new affordable handbag line.
The luxury British leather and exotic skins accessories label – which counts Gwyneth Paltrow among its many fans – has revealed plans to expand the line and make it more accessible for women in their 20s.
Founder and designer Sarah Forsyth told vogue.co.uk: “It was quite couture-based. What we’ve done is bring in a new line – it’ll still be very classic and high end but we’re hoping it’ll appeal to a broader demographic. It’s been designed with 20-somethings in mind.
“With the economic climate as it is, I wanted to create pieces that everyone could buy into, not just the wealthy elite. The couture line will still exist and we’ll keep adding new leather skins and new fabrics to keep it fresh and exciting.”
Sarah also revealed ‘Country Strong’ star Gwyneth was so delighted with a clutch bag the company sent her that she wrote a note thanking them for the gift.
She said: “I actually sent her this purple and blue faux lizard clutch not thinking I’d hear anything back and then we saw a picture of her wearing it. We then received a handwritten reply from her saying she loved it and thanking me very much -it was very unexpected indeed!”

Giles Deacon led a judging panel to find the winner of the Central Saint Martins Palladium Jewellery Design competition last night (30.03.11).
The renowned fashion designer was joined on the panel by London jewellery star Hannah Martin and after looking at the bespoke work of the five finalists, they crowned Leigh Cameron as the overall winner in a glamorous ceremony at London’s Institute of Contemporary Arts.
The stunning winning ring, made from the rare and precious metal palladium, was inspired by large architectural shapes and the talented student said: “It has been an amazing experience, I never thought that I would win and as I am studying furniture, designing jewellery is a whole new experience for me. Working with Palladium has been fantastic and I look forward to working with it again in the future.”
Giles said he was hugely impressed with the competition – a collaboration between Palladium Alliance International and Masters Design students specialising Jewellery Ceramics and Furniture at the prestigious Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design – and the work everyone produced.
He said: “The work that has been presented by Central Saint Martin’s College of Art and Design MA Design and Jewellery students using palladium is as I would have hoped , inventive, beautiful and directional.”
Part of the Platinum family, Palladium is naturally white and light making it an ideal contemporary choice for jewellery.
Guests at the party included model Jade Parfitt, actor Mathew Horne and Kelly Osbourne’s ex, Luke Worrall.

Britney Spears is being sued for $10 million by her former business partners.
The lawsuit was filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court by Brand Sense partner LLC in relation to the 29-year-old singer’s ninth fragrance Radiance and branding deal with cosmetics giant Elizabeth Arden.
Britney and her father and conservator Jamie Spears are accused of “being sneaky and underhanded” by alienating Brand Sense from the $15 million-a-year deal, when it was formerly arranged that the business should get 35 per cent of any commission the pop star earned through the scent.
The lawsuit, which accuses Britney of “concealment and invasive actions”, states: “Britney secretly made a separate deal with Elizabeth Arden in a sneaky underhanded effort to circumvent and evade its obligations to Brand Sense.
“Effectively, Britney improperly and illegally cut Brand Sense out of the Elizabeth Arden deal.”
The company also claimed they caught Jamie “red handed” acting on behalf of his daughter when he complained that the commission rate was too high, leading to a compromise deal in which royalties would go directly to the ‘Hold it Against Me’ hitmaker.
The suit, which has been obtained by RadarOnline.com, said: “Brand Sense had a contractual right to a 35 per cent commission on any Britney Spears-branded fragrance sold by Elizabeth Arden.
“But Mr. Spears complained that the commission was too high and said that Britney did not want to pay it.”
The business went on to say the actions only came to light when it was sent a letter from the beauty giant, dated February 16, 2011, enclosing a royalty report which excluded those made from Radiance.
The company has accused Britney and Jamie of conducting a “fraudulent scheme” and is seeking declaratory relief in excess of $10 million, as well as compensatory and punitive damages.

Milla Jovovich has been named as the new face of jeweller Jacob and Co.
The model-and-actress – who previously had her own fashion label, Jovovich-Hawk, with catwalk beauty Carmen Hawk – was unveiled as the new ambassador for the Swiss brand at a cocktail reception at Baselworld, the annual watch and jewellery tradeshow in Switzerland.
Jacob & Co. is a luxury watch and diamond jewellery house, founded over 25 years ago by Jacob Arabo and is best known for its five time zone watches.
Jacob said: “We have been looking for the right personality and beauty that represents what I call; ‘The Jacob Girl’, she is a sophisticated world traveller, self accomplished and exudes an assertive feminine personality, lastly, she is absolutely gorgeous!”
Milla was decked out in diamonds – provided by Jacob and Co. for the occasion – and joked it was not a new occurrence for her.
She said: “Well, it’s not much. This ring is $20 million. This bracelet is probably $10 million. Necklace is about, I don’t know, 6.5. The earrings are 10. No big deal.”

Kylie Minogue has been inspired to embrace the trend for vintage by Lily Allen.
The Australian pop star – whose costumes for her latest tour were created by design duo Dolce and Gabbana – has ordered a dress from the British singer’s UK store Lucy In Disguise and couldn’t contain her excitement.
She tweeted: “I have ordered my dress from lucyindisguiselondon.com and @lilyroseallen has worn it!! GO VINTAGE!!”
Meanwhile, Lily yesterday (29.03.11) announced plans to create an 18-piece clothing collection under the guise of her London vintage store which she operates with her sister Sarah Owen.
Designer Kim Jones’ sister Nadia Jones will work on the designs with Lily, merging details from the vintage details of the pieces in the store with their own designs.
Each item will be named after people and places, with designs including the Fortnums, a Forties-style rayon crepe tea dress with a lily of the valley print and the Capone, a black sequined and beaded tulle flapper-esque dress.
UK department store Harvey Nichols will be the first place to stock the clothes, which will launch in June.
Lily revealed the collection is inspired by the idea of the fictional Lucy, “a time-travelling fashionista who’s inviting you to explore her wardrobe. It’s a great opportunity to play with the character”.

Lady Gaga is to become a fashion columnist.
The 25-year-old singer – who is known for her love of making statements with clothing, including a dress made entirely of meat and Hermes handbag she scrawled over in pen – will begin writing for V Magazine from May as well as “resurrecting” video blog diary Transmission Gagavision.
She wrote on twitter: “I have some exciting news little monsters. I begin next month as a Fashion+Art Columnist for VMagazine. + I’ll be resurrecting ‘TRANSMISSION GAGAVISION’ episodes starting next week!(sic)”
Fashion conscious Gaga recently revealed she was suffering with hair loss because of how often she had dyed her tresses.
She said: “I had to get a chemical haircut because my blonde hair is falling out.”
She also confessed she is not good with taking her extensive make-up off when she goes to bed.
Asked how many nights a week she sleeps in her make-up, she said: “Seven. That’s not good for your skin, but I’m blessed with good genes.”

As we told you earlier on today, Mad Men will be making a come back next year.
However, we’re really disappointed to learn that curvy icon Christina Hendricks will not be returning to the show. As a result we thought it only right that we dedicated a post to her amazing style, which has made women all around the globe wish they had curves, and given those lucky enough to have them, the confidence to flaunt them.
Back in August the star made fashion waves when she wore a gorgeous lilac Zac Posen frock for the The Emmys, an usual change to her trademark black. However, just because she favours the classic colour it doesn’t mean her styles are safe.
Like her character, Christina embraces the looks of the 50s and 60s with tea length hems, lace and puffy numbers. Even when she’s dressing down there are hints of this era either through statement accessories or embellishments. Don’t disappear from our screens Christina, we need curvy inspiration.

Carrying on with the recent spotlights we’ve been casting some of our very favourite designers, today we’ve turned our attentions to American whizz-kid Marc Jacobs. Juggling his time between designing under his own name for his designer label and diffusion line Marc for Marc Jacobs, along with being creative director for Louis Vuitton, he manages to always smash it whilst being super-busy. Today we’re going to look at his work for his primary self-titled label, which has churned out flawless collections season after season for years now.
He’s always been one of the first designers to get behind a huge trend in fashion – who could forget his edible Spring/Summer 2011 collection, a gorgeous collection of silks, floppy silhouettes and accessories that had us all frantically trying to find similar 1970s pieces? Or his Spring/Summer 2010 collection, in which that nude-coloured midi-dress, as seen on Alexa Chung, had us all spurning short hemlines for the chicer midi-length hemlines? He’s a designer who truly has his fingertip on the beating pulse of fashion.
We’ve looked through his past collections from 2006 to the present to find our very favourite pieces of his work – check them out in the gallery above.

Nicki shows off her ridiculous curves in a skin-tight white dress and a leopard-print blonde wig

We have plenty of well-dressed, chic celebrities whose style we want to emulate, but there aren’t many stars that come as bonkers as American singer Nicki Minaj, whose style is an incredible blend of Disney-ish pops of colour, fierce ghetto styling and alien gravity-defying hair. The ghetto Lady Gaga, minus a few bizarre personal habits and behaviours, we always look forward to seeing what Nicki will wear to the next big red-carpet blowout.
Unlike Lady Gaga, whose fashion movements we literally cannot predict at all, we always know that whatever Miss Minaj wears next will be fabulous. A huge advocate of skin-tight clothing which shows off her frankly unbelievable curves (the woman is a real-life Barbie doll), she’s always spotted in figure-hugging jumpsuits and Herve Leger dresses which are teamed up with stonking great heels and an amazing wig. We especially love her blonde, leopard-printed wig – see a whole array of amazing ‘dos in the gallery above. Nicki Minaj, we salute you!

Alexa Chung finds fashion uncomfortable.
The TV presenter – whose unique sense of style has seen her voted one of the world’s most fashionable women – says feeling good is not the same as looking stylish and also reveals she looks to Sir Mick Jagger and the late Kurt Cobain for fashion tips.
Asked what her most comfortable outfit is, Alexa said: “If it’s comfy it probably doesn’t look good.
“I go to Mick Jagger or Kurt Cobain for style inspiration if I’m feeling tomboyish. On a girlie day it’s Jane Birkin or [French singer] Francoise Hardy.”
Alexa claims she doesn’t follow trends and admits to living in her favourite item of clothing, her denim shorts.
She told Stylist magazine: “I’m bad at trends. Just wear what you want and what suits you. My favourite item of clothing are my denim shorts which I wear almost daily. Other than that it’s an antique cameo ring I got from Spitalfields Market in east London or my small Chanel bag.”
Alexa loves up-and-coming designers and at the moment is tempted to dress “head-to-toe” in Carven because she loves the designs.
She said: “I love the label Carven. Lately I’ve just wanted to dress head-to-toe in it because Guillaume Henry, the designer, has made a school-uniform-meets Fracnoise Hardy inspired collection, which is perfect.
