Michelle in on-trend prints
It’s the war of the White House women today as we’ve decided to pit Sarah Palin and Michelle Obama against each other in the fashion stakes.
As we pointed out yesterday Ms Palin is no stranger to the spotlight and she’s had her fair share of fashion criticism. Most notable was back in 2008 when the world and its do decided to have a hissy fit over the fact that the Republican National Committee had reportedly spent $150,000 on campaign clothes and accessories for Sarah Palin.
The money was spent at Saks Fifth Avenue stores in St. Louis and New York, Neiman Marcus in Minneapolis, and also on hair and makeup.
However that didn’t seem to give her wardrobe a boost with the politician still lagging behind the likes of Michelle Obama (look out for a fashion face off tomorrow) in the fashion wars.
Yes she has the stereotypical blazers and trousers and yes she alternates her colours from bright to neutral, but apart from those statement glasses we can’t say that she stands out here.
Michelle Obama on the other hand is well known for her impeccable fashion sense, and has earned the title of the “First Lady of fashion”.
Back in January the First Lady stepped out for a state Dinner at the White House in a gorgeous red ruffled organza dress by the late Alexander McQueen, which was a modified version of the finale piece from the Resort 2011 collection, the first collection altered under new creative director Sarah Burton.
We’ve been watching Michelle Obama for a while now and love her style, which consists of shift dresses, skirt suits and off duty jeans. However, this was one of the few times she’s opted for a British well known designer, usually sticking to smaller unknown labels and American brands.
We also love her overall casual style of prints, jeans and denim jackets when she’s off duty.
