Strong statements lips are set to be the key make-up trend for the next two seasons.
For years, stars such as Gwen Stefani and Christina Aguilera have been showing off the perfect pouts with bright colours, and now the rest of the industry is following suit.
Top make-up artist Daniel Sandler exclusively told BANG Showbiz: “This spring, strong statement lips lead the way for that ‘casual glamour’ look. A vibrant lipstick is not to be reserved just for the night, casual glamour is for the day or night and the trick is to keep the skin looking fresh and light so the lips can be the focus of the face. A vibrant shade such as Boots 17′s Lasting Fix Lipstick in Pink Power (£4.29) will definitely make a statement but there are 20 shades to choose from – take your pick of the bright ones!”
Daniel – whose range of cosmetic brushes are available in Boots stores – also stressed the importance of applying make-up properly.
He said: “Make-up is about using colours that suit you and applying it properly. Practice makes perfect. Essential tools of the trade such as Professional makeup brushes from the Daniel Sandler range make application simple, especially my Base brush which effortlessly helps base glide on and blend easily. My top tip is to prime the base brush with a little water to speed up application and help prevent bad blending.”

Sienna and Savannah Miller always get a sample of their designs made in both their sizes so they can make changes.
The sisters’ brand Twenty8Twelve is now in its 11th season and Sienna says the only way they know if the clothes are right is to try them on.
She said: “We now get each sample in both our sizes which has made a huge difference to the way we make changes. I’ve had the great fortune to wear a lot of beautiful designer clothes, and you know when something feels right.
“We’ve also moved all our tailoring to London as well which has made a massive difference in terms of quality and fit – and working with a pattern cutter here feels right for the brand too.”
While Savannah feels the pair may have been too edgy with their designs in the past, she now thinks they have finally hit on the perfect style for the label.
She told vogue.co.uk: “I feel like we’ve been finding our niche. Maybe we’ve tried to be a bit too avant garde in the past, but now we do that with print and texture and just focus on making wearable clothes we’d love to wear. We have an amazing team of seven unsung heroes who work with us – they really understand us and where we want the brand to be – and we’re getting there.”

Looking flawless in an off-the-shoulder mustard gown on the red carpet, Miss Kruger is the queen of ritzy dressing

We’re all about well-dressed actresses this week at Shiny Style, and they don’t come much better put-together than German-born Inglorious Basterds star Diane Kruger. Always a familiar face in the front rows of both Berlin and Paris Fashion Week, designers such as Chanel and Calvin Klein are all queuing up around the block to dress this girl for events.
And it’s no wonder she’s so impeccably dressed – with friends in high places such as Karl Lagerfeld who invite her to Chanel-branded games of bowls and punts on the Riviera, a girl pretty much has to keep her fashion game en point at all times. Have you ever seen Diane Kruger in a What Were You Thinking? column, or being reprimanded by E! Entertainment’s fashion police? I thought not. And that’s why we love her so – whether she’s at a fashion show or on the red carpet for a new film, she’s always pulled out all the stops.
If you’re not so familiar with the German actress then check out the gallery above, where we’ve found all of our favourite Diane Kruger looks from the last few years. Couture Chanel? Check. An impeccable knack for clashing colours? Check. Incredible shoes? CHECK. This is a girl that has it all.

The sad passing of Elizabeth Taylor yesterday got me thinking about silver screen goddesses – Liz Taylor was certainly an icon and will be missed by everyone. So who’s your all-time style icon, the one that you take inspiration from when you simply can’t decide what to wear? Over the next few weeks I’m going to look at some of the most iconic dressers of all time, their best looks and pieces that you can buy on the high street to steal a little bit of their fashion magic.
So who better to start with than the queen of chic herself, Audrey Hepburn? Even if you haven’t seen any of her films, everyone knows that little black Givenchy dress, the diamond earrings, the elegant black silk gloves and the cigarette holder – it’s one of the most iconic looks in film history. With her gamine features, charisma and tiny ballerina’s figure, Audrey Hepburn was – and still is – a fashion designer’s dream.
The key to Audrey’s timeless style is all about simplicity. A timeless off-duty look for the iconic film-star was a pair of slim-fitting capri pants cropped above the ankle, worn with neat ballet flats and a simple top. To add a low-key outfit some charm and sparkle, she’d simply add a pair of jaw-droppingly stunning earrings. As for eveningwear, well, you’ve seen her in that little black dress haven’t you? Have a look at our favourite Audrey moments and then see pieces you can buy to copy her look on the high street.

You may remember that a while back we looked at the boutique online jewellers Chelsea Doll, whose speciality was a charming blend of quirkiness, with a few of the current trends mixed in for good measure. Well, it’s been a while since we had a look at their site, and we have to say that this is a boutique who has only gone from strength to strength since we were last there. Once selling a limited selection of their sweet designs, now they have absolutely masses to choose from – and there’s something for everybody.
If it’s cutesy, ironic kitsch that you’re after, as seen in the past few seasons at Louis Vuitton and and Miu Miu, then Chelsea Doll is the place to look. Birds, insects, vintage homewares and flowers – all key themes in Chelsea Doll design which will add a cute twist to any outfit.
Our absolute favourite piece is the frankly adorable “Birdsong” necklace, which is a row of tiny sparkling birds on a silver chain. How very Miu Miu! Or if you want to go further down the opposite route to toughen up your outfit, there’s a great series of skull jewellery which will add a great twist to a party dress or girlie outfit – we absolutely love their scarlet crystal-studded skull earrings.

Lindsay Lohan’s lawyer is confident she will be acquitted of felony grand theft.
The ‘Mean Girls’ actress – who is accused of stealing a $2,500 necklace from an upmarket Californian boutique – rejected a plea deal in the case yesterday (23.03.11) in exchange for a reduced sentence and now must face trial but her attorney Shawn Chapman Holley is sure her innocence will be proved.
She said: “Ms. Lohan has maintained her innocence from the moment this case was filed and she has never wavered. Though many advised her to follow the safe route by taking ‘the deal’, the truth is, Ms. Lohan is innocent; she has a strong defence; and we are confident that a jury will listen to the evidence fairly and acquit her.”
Lindsay – who is currently on probation stemming from a 2007 driving under the influence (DUI) conviction – will next appear in court for a preliminary hearing on April 22, with Judge Stephanie Sautner, who is described as “tough but fair”, presiding over proceedings.
Earlier this week, Lindsay’s mother Dina Lohan said her daughter – who has always maintained she was loaned the necklace in exchange for publicity – was seriously considering pleading no-contest and accepting the deal as she wanted to “get it over with”.
Explaining why the actress was considering pleading no-contest, Dina said: “Obviously she’s not pleading guilty.
“My children don’t steal things. But the system is so strange out in Los Angeles. We’re considering a couple of options and just want to get this over with in the shortest amount of time.”

Lady Gaga’s friends leave “mounds of cheeseburgers” in her dressing room because they know she can’t eat them.
The ‘Judas’ singer likes to take her friends as support acts on tour, but said they play cruel tricks on her, like leaving her junk food treats she can’t indulge in, due to her strict diet.
In a Google Moderator interview – which saw her answer questions submitted by fans – she explained: “I don’t like surprises and I don’t like pranks.
“But I have had very few famous acts open for me, it’s mostly been underground acts and DJs, people that I’ve known since I was 18.
“Very often they make jokes about my diet, because I have to stay so in shape for music videos and performances, they play jokes like leaving mounds of cheeseburgers in my dressing room and stuff. It’s really awful. It’s vicious”
Gaga, 24, is said to have used extreme dieting methods to stay slim early on in her career.
In Maureen Callahan’s 2010 book ‘Poker Face: The Rise and Rise of Lady Gaga’, the musician’s former tour manager David Ciemny claimed she would binge on junk food such as cakes and sweets, then not eat for weeks to fit into her costumes – once allegedly losing 20lbs between fittings for one of her outfits.
Describing her food habits, David said: “When I say she was sick, I mean physically and mentally.”
Talent scout Wendy Starland added in the text: “The pressure on her to lose weight was very high.”

Katie Holmes loved the classic look she portrays in her new movie.
The actress premiered her debut short film ‘The Decision’ in New York last night and Katie revealed she was a big fan of the loose curls and dramatic red lips she sports in the mini-movie which she collaborated on with John Frieda to showcase the company’s Precision Foam Colour product.
She said: “You know this was a really fun project to work on and a great opportunity to bridge movies into beauty and I had a wonderful time working with John Frieda. I worked with [celebrity hairstylist] Harry Josh, he did my hair, it was really fun. It was something different, it was sort of a period look, so we had a good time.”
The short tells the story of high-profile actress Joan Hudson (Katie) who decides to sack her hair colourist and dye her own hair instead and Katie revealed she loved working on a project that her fans can relate to.
She explained to ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “I love the idea of doing a short film about something I feel is really important to women. I also love being part of promoting a product that is available to all women.”

Rachel Bilson was “more interested” in Karl Lagerfeld than Baptiste Giabiconi during a shoot.
The 29-year-old actress worked with the Chanel designer and his male model muse to film a recent advertisement and although she acknowledged Baptiste is gorgeous, she only had eyes for Karl.
She said: “Apparently he’s a very big model. I knew who he was from shows and walking – he’s always with Karl. He was really sweet too – obviously a very good-looking person. He’s so young! He’s only 21.”
However, she admitted: “I’m more interested in keeping in touch with Karl!”
The petite brunette also confessed she was so star-struck by the German designer she kept a notepad he had written on – and refused to share it with a friend.
She told New York magazine: “He was so funny – he was writing down something on this Chanel notepad, and he was like, ‘Do you want it?’ And I took it so fast he laughed at me, so I got a Chanel notepad from Karl.
“And my friend was with me – she was like, ‘Can I at least have a piece of paper from it?’ I was like, ‘Absoluely not.’ “

Kate Hudson’s style icon is Kate Moss.
The 31-year-old actress – who is currently expecting her first child with Muse rocker Matt Bellamy – admitted she envies the supermodel’s ability to wear anything, and also admires the looks of 60s British actress Julie Christie and Italian fashion designer Anita Pallenberg.
She told Look magazine: “I loved Julie Christie and I have a massive crush on Anita Pallenberg and her style. I think Kate Moss has that ability to be able to wear anything.”
While Kate admires the style of other celebrities she has previously admitted the harshest critic of her own dress sense is her son Ryder.
She said: “Oh my gosh, he’s my biggest critic, always asking: ‘What is that?’ I always know when he likes it when he sees me and he doesn’t say anything and he gets kind of flushed. I go, ‘Uh-oh. That means you like it!’”
While Kate – who recently purchased a new home in London with Matt – “loves” shopping and searching for the latest fashions, she is now equally interested in finding cute pieces to spruce up her home.
She added: “I love shopping but once you get into houses and wanting to nest you get into lamp shopping and bedding.
“I really love interior design. My shopping has gone from fashion to more of the house stuff.”
