For the ultimate in shoe eye candy, you can't go wrong with these sparkle-dusted flats from Miss KG.

Thanks to the Black Swan phenomenon that’s had absolutely everyone talking, fashion is all about ballet right now. From costume-esque ornate ruffles and adornment at Marchesa and sweet, sugary colours at Stella McCartney, ballet has never been so hot. However, being a ballerina is really really hard (I’ve been doing ballet workouts at home and think I may never walk again), but dressing like one is really very easy and perfect for this spring.

The real, traditional dancer shoes are both painful (or so I’ve heard) and not practical for traipsing up and down the shops in, but ballet flats are. We all own a pair, but with fashion’s obsession with clogs, wedges and skyscraping heels recently we may not have been showing ours as much love as they deserve. After all, they’re our best friend after a long night out in stilettos- we wouldn’t be able to manage the walk of shame home without them. So we’ve searched the high street and found our top 5 favourite ballerina flats out at the moment, ranging from luxurious designer ones to basic failsafe ones. Check them out in the gallery above.

Whitney's perfected Beverley Hills laidback cool in this slouchy denim shirt and hotpants combo - who said that double denim doesn't work?

As the weather slowly brightens up in the UK (we can go out without wearing thermal vests under our outfits! There’s blossom on the trees!) we can start to look forward to what will hopefully be a long, glorious and fashionable spring/summer. Us Brits are good to take tips from during the winter months, but for fashion inspiration it’s better to look across the pond to where the stars dress for gloriously sunny weather almost all year round. You don’t need to look much further than The City TV-star Whitney Port.

More friendly and accessible than Olivia Palermo, more fashion-savvy than Lauren Conrad, she’s the perfect ambassador for laidback summer dressing. We’re particular fans of her off-duty style that she’s papped out and about in; slouchy denim shirts, hotpants and flip-flops and sunnies. And in true It-girl style, she’s never without an absolutely killer bag. Check out our gallery to see our favourite recent Whitney moments.

Eva Mendes replaces Naomi Watts as the face of Thierry Mugler’s Angel fragrance.

By Andrea Petrou on March 17th, 2011

Eva Mendes has replaced Naomi Watts as the face of Thierry Mugler’s Angel fragrance.

While the company is known for replacing its spokesperson every few years, a statement revealed the 36-year-old actress was chosen because they hope to play up the fragrance’s “sultry” qualities.

A statement said: “While Naomi Watts’ ethereal beauty embodied the angelic aspect of the fragrance, Thierry Mugler chose to reignite the enticing and explosive dimensions of the fragrance with the sultry Mendes, though her obviously flawless physical beauty is in perfect harmony with the artist’s aesthetic canon, Ms. Mendes mesmerised Mugler with her independence, determination and humour.”

Eva – who was previously the face of Calvin Klein’s Secret Obsession perfume – will begin appearing in advertisements for Thierry Mugler from September.

Earlier this month Eva followed in the footsteps of supermodel Helena Christensen and British beauty Kelly Brook to be named as the new ambassador of Reebok EasyTone.

The brunette beauty revealed she was thrilled to take on the role because fitness is so important to her.

She explained: “I feel better when I’m in good shape. Between long days on the set and travel, it’s not always possible to get a full workout in, so I have to make the time I have count. As an actress, being fit is so important.”

Uli Becker, president of Reebok International, added the ‘Other Guys’ actress was chosen because she is “committed to fitness”.

Kelly Brook is expecting a baby girl

By Andrea Petrou on March 17th, 2011

Kelly Brook is expecting a baby girl.

The 31-year-old model has announced that she is pregnant with her first child with her rugby player boyfriend Thom Evans and revealed that she already knows the sex of the baby.

She wrote on her twitter page: “Thom and I are happy to announce we are expecting a baby girl. We are delighted XXXX.”

The ‘Piranha 3D’ star has been dating the athlete for just over three months and the baby will also be his first child.

Kelly has recently been busy spending her time between London and Los Angeles working on various campaigns including one for Reebok and promoting her swimwear range for British high street store New Look.

The brunette beauty – who has dated Billy Zane and Jason Statham – recently admitted that she makes more effort with her appearance when in London because her she thinks people have a more relaxed style in Los Angeles.

She said: “When I’m in London I like dressing up. I’ll wear lots of 50s-style prom dresses, pencil skirts, and blouses because they really flatter my hourglass figure. But right now I’m living in LA so I’m living in jeans and t-shirts.”

Nicole Scherzinger checks into hotels under the pseudonym Edna Krabapple

By Andrea Petrou on March 17th, 2011

Nicole Scherzinger checks into hotels under the pseudonym Edna Krabapple.

The former Pussycat Dolls singer – who has been dating Formula 1 racing driver Lewis Hamilton for the past three years – uses ‘The Simpsons’ cartoon character’s name in order to stop fans from discovering her whereabouts.

A source said: “Celebrities have been using fake names at hotels for years. Nicole’s is tame compared to a lot of them but she loves ‘The Simpsons’ and thinks it’s funny.

“It’s done the trick so far as nobody has twigged.”

Nicole’s ruse was successful on a recent romantic trip to Paris with Lewis where fans showed up at a hotel where ‘Nicole Scherzinger and Lewis Hamilton’ were booked to stay, not realising that ‘Edna Krabappel’ was in another hotel.

Nicole is not the only celebrity to use a pseudonym.

British actress Kate Beckinsale has revealed she chose to call herself Sigourney Beaver on the “spur of the moment” because of her admiration for Sigourney Weaver, although her husband, director Len Wiseman, hates it when hotel employees call him “Mr. Beaver.”

Ozzy Osbourne reportedly has two fake names, Harry B******s for when he books weekends away with his wife Sharon and the more sedate Prince Albert for other times.

Lara Stone quizzed about her breasts

By Andrea Petrou on March 17th, 2011

Lara Stone was shocked when she was recently asked if her breasts are real or not.

The stunning Dutch supermodel – who is married to British comedian David Walliams – revealed her famous natural assets were called into question on a shoot but it was all in the name of fashion.

She explained: “I was being tied up with a rope for a fashion story. Apparently if my boobs were fake they might have exploded under the pressure.”

Lara, 27, admitted she hates going to the gym but credits her fabulous figure on giving up alcohol.

She said: “I’ve never been good at going to the gym. The only thing that really changed for me is that I stopped drinking.

“My body kind of settled into a different place and I quite like it. My breasts have shrunk a bit, but really, I haven’t got too much to complain about!”

Lara has previously admitted she never considered herself to be model material because she was always unsure about her looks.

She said: “When I was a little girl growing up in Holland, I remember seeing the posters of Kate Moss in the Calvin Klein Obsession campaign and thinking, ‘Oh my God, she is amazing.’

“I never looked at those pictures thinking, ‘One day I want to do that’ or I want to be like her. It’ didn’t enter my head that this could be something I could do. It wasn’t even on my radar because I look exactly like a boy.

“But I love it. It’s still strong and sexy and amazing.”

The Olympics gets a fashion fix as the help of Zandra Rhodes is enlisted

By Andrea Petrou on March 16th, 2011

By Emily Borrett.

Zandra's sketch for the 33-foot puppet which will be unveiled at the 2012 Olympics in London

I have to admit that sports are not my thing. When it was announced that London would be hosting the 2012 Olympics, my first thought was how pointlessly showy and expensive the whole thing will be, and how jam-packed the tubes will be full of tourists. But now the event has piqued my interest, with the news that British fashion veteran Zandra Rhodes is going to be contributing to the celebrations with a 33-foot puppet of Lady Godiva. Yep – that’s right, a giant fashion puppet. That’ll shut up anyone who tries to claim that Brits have no sense of fun.

The lucky Lady Godiva puppet will be decked out in a Medieval-inspired one-of-a-kind dress designed by Zandra Rhodes herself, and made with the helping hands of fashion design students in Coventry, where the legend of Lady Godiva originates from. In the original tale, she rides naked through the city on horseback – so it’ll be probably a nice change to be covered up for once.

The puppet will then be transported from Coventry to the site of the Olympics with a fleet of cyclists. It all sounds a bit mental, but amazing. The Olympics just got a bit more interesting.

ShinyStyle loves: This week’s top 10 seventies-inspired buys

By Andrea Petrou on March 16th, 2011

Woven Sandal Wedges

Picture 1 of 10
Picture 1 of 10

These wedges from Topshop Unique tick all the right fashion boxes.

With stars such as Rachel Bilson, Daisy Lowe and Nicole Richie firmly flying the flag for 1970s casualwear, 70s supermodel icon Jerry Hall having her own mini-beauty Georgia Jagger follow in her footsteps and fashion houses such as Marc Jacobs showing collections filled with luxurious fabrics and fringing, it’s never been so hot to have a little blast from the past. Whether it’s full-on Studio 54 disco glamour that you want or grown-up hippy chic, there’s a piece on the high street for you to rock the trend. It’s a nod to the bohemian, louche look that both Kate Moss and Sienna Miller have made so desirable – and you don’t have to be a model or impossibly beautiful actress to try it.

The beauty about the trend is it’s accessibility for women of all shapes and sizes. Self-conscious about your pre-summer tummy? A slouchy maxi or jumpsuit can hide a multitude of sins if you choose the right fabric. Want to look taller, or emphasize your long legs? Wide-legged and flared trousers don’t just make you appear longer, but are also a beautifully stylish alternative to the unforgiving skinny jean. We’re predicting that the wide-legged look will catch on just as much as skinny jeans, if not more.

When looking for pieces to work the 1970′s look, you have to keep an eye out for key elements that will keep it on-trend. Kaftan-style minidresses made out of floaty fabrics, statement chunky jewellery, tan coloured platform heels and retro sunglasses will make your 70s style absolutely perfect come spring/summer. When it comes to colour, opt for metallics if it’s glamour that you want, but if you want to go a bit more low-key look out for white broderie anglaise and tan colours. Check out the gallery for our favourite pieces.

Rihanna feels betrayed by her father.

By Andrea Petrou on March 16th, 2011

Rihanna feels betrayed by her father.

The ‘S&M’ singer has never forgiven her dad Ronald Fenty for cashing in on her problems by selling information to the media after she was assaulted by her ex-boyfriend Chris Brown in February 2009.

The 23-year-old pop star admits she felt heartbroken when she realised someone in her own family could use her for their own personal gain.

In an interview with the US edition of Vogue, she said: “You hear the horror stories about people going behind people’s backs and doing strange things, but you always think, ‘Not my family. My father would never do that to me.’

“But my dad went to the press and just told them a bunch of lies. Because he hadn’t talked to me after … that whole thing . He never called to find out how I was doing, if I was alive, nothing. He just never called. He went straight to the press and got a cheque. And now he does it again.”

Even two years later, Rihanna still struggles to comprehend that her own dad would treat her so badly.

She tearfully added: “It’s like, what do I even mean to him? It’s really strange. That’s the only word I can think of to describe it, because you grow up with your father, you know him, you are a part of him, for goodness sake! And then he does something so bizarre that I can’t begin to wrap my mind around it.”

The ‘Umbrella’ hitmaker insists she has no interest in having a relationship with her dad, who is an ex-drug addict, anymore.

She said: “Now I’m like, whatever, I tried.”

Ronald, 57, had claimed that he and his daughter had repaired their fractured relationship at a meeting in her native Barbados at Christmas.

He previously said: “I saw her twice before Christmas and she came to see me on Christmas Day (25.12.10). She showered me with gifts, a lot of stuff, many shirts and cologne.

“Maybe we’re not as close as we were when she was growing up here and was at school. But we are blood, we do not stay angry and we are friends again.”

Rihanna has previously revealed her childhood was blighted by her dad Ronald’s drug problems and eventual split from her mother Monica when she was 14.

Sienna Miller’s fashion line Twenty8Twelve is made for “different” body types

By Andrea Petrou on March 16th, 2011

Sienna Miller’s fashion line Twenty8Twelve is made for “different” body types.

The brand – which she creates with her designer sister Savannah Miller – is now in its 11th season, and the British beauty confesses she has learned a lot since its inception.

She said: “When we started this brand I had never done a complete collection. We have learned about creating diversity in the range to suit different ages, bodies and budgets whilst still maintaining the essence of Twenty8Twelve in every piece – not an easy feat!”

Savannah also claims the fashionable garments are designed for every generation of woman, including pensioners.

She told Vogue.co.uk: “We very often have three generations of women come into the store at once and all buy. I think there really is something for everyone and age these days isn’t what it used to be.

“I like to think the Twenty8Twelve woman really understands what she wants her clothes to say about her. She uses her clothes to reflect her personality.”
