By Andrea Petrou on March 16th, 2011

Tyra Banks gets up three hours early so she has time to work out and put on her make-up.

The 37-year-old model-and-television presenter is currently studying at Harvard Business School and admitted she rises at 4.45am in order to get ready to meet her study group at 7.30am every morning.

She explained: “I have to work out and eat breakfast beforehand and get ready and be a female. But in the end, I never would have had it any other way. I have made life-long friends among my classmates.”

Meanwhile the busy entrepreneur has today (15.03.11) launched her own beauty and style website, TypeF, where women can input their vital statistic and every time they log on, are greeted with content matched to their physical characteristics

Tyra explained to USA Today: “We decided to keep a blank slate for women to fill in what that F means to them. It’s done with humor and fun. It’s a very specific voice. TypeF is saying, ‘No, you are good enough. You deserve to wear that trend too.’”

Victoria and David Beckham shocked at baby girl news

By Andrea Petrou on March 16th, 2011

David Beckham was shocked to find out his wife Victoria Beckham is expecting a girl because doctors originally told them they were having a boy.

The soccer star – who already has three sons, Brooklyn, 12, Romeo, eight, and six-year-old Cruz with the fashion designer – revealed he and Victoria assumed they would be adding another boy to their brood this summer and were overcome with emotion when they discovered they would be having a daughter.

In an interview with Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS-FM radio show, he said: “When you’ve had three boys you just kind of assume that you’re going to have another one. Funnily enough, when we went to have the three-month scan they [the doctors] said, ‘Oh, it looks like a boy.’

“We were, like, ‘Oh, OK, great. Almost like a five-a-side (soccer) team.’ And then we went back and they were like, ‘Actually, it’s a girl.’ The emotion hit us [then]. It’s amazing.”

David, 35, and 36-year-old Victoria – who is five months pregnant – are not the only ones who are excited about adding a girl to their family, their sons can’t wait to get a sister.

He said: “It’s nice to be prepared. The boys are so excited, thinking that they’re going to have a little sister.”

Naomi Campbell to open pop up charity shop

By Andrea Petrou on March 16th, 2011

Naomi Campbell is opening a shop in London.

The supermodel has joined forces with shopping centre Westfield for the pop-up store, which will open its doors between April 6 to 13 to sell designer items in aid of The Prince’s Trust charity.

Among the products up for grabs will be a Vivienne Westwood evening dress previously worn by the British beauty, and a Tom Ford suit donned by comedian David Walliams.

In addition, labels including Stella McCartney, Mulberry, Givenchy and Christopher Kane will donate pieces to the shop, while fashion set designer Michael Howells will be responsible for dressing the store windows.

Naomi will also be joined behind the till by a string of as-yet unnamed famous faces, with mystery guest DJs also promised to boost the shopping experience.

The Prince’s Trust benefits young people who need practical and financial backing in order to turn their lives around.

The supermodel’s previous altruistic efforts include her annual Fashion for Relief catwalk show, and a collection of t-shirts, which were sold to raise money for the charity.

Vanessa Hudgens had issues fitting into her High School Musical costumes

By Andrea Petrou on March 15th, 2011

Vanessa Hudgens’ eating habits were once so bad she struggled to fit into her ‘High School Musical’ costumes.

The actress admitted that in 2007 her weight ballooned after she stopped eating vegetables and gorged on junk food, leaving her struggling when it came to appearing in a live show version of the film series.

She told US magazine Shape: “I was so unhealthy. I used to go to Cold Stone Creamery, get a tub of Butterfinger ice cream and eat it all before bedtime.

“I lived on [microwaveable junk food] Hot Pockets and never touched vegetables; I needed to do something about my diet.

“My fingers were permanently stained orange from Cheetos. I almost couldn’t get my costume on. When I finally got it zipped up, my boobs were up to my chin!”

Vanessa – who dated her co-star hunk Zac Efron for five years from 2005 to 2010 – said she has since ditched her unhealthy diet and it has made a remarkable change to her figure and helped her attitude toward food improve.

She added to Shape magazine: “I like egg whites with veggies or oatmeal with almonds and fruit.”

Now, for lunch and dinner Vanessa usually has a spinach salad with grilled chicken or salmon, Marcona almonds, feta, a little truffle oil and a dash of Himalayan sea salt.

She added: “When you’re putting good stuff into your body, you feel so much better.”

Vanessa also takes regular exercise, including pilates, yoga and spinning as well as attending cardio kickboxing classes with her mother.

Sienna Miller hopes to expand her fashion label to make couture designs.

By Andrea Petrou on March 15th, 2011

Sienna Miller hopes to expand her fashion label to make couture designs.

The British actress – who founded the Twenty8Twelve label with her sister Savannah Miller – has revealed the ambitious siblings want to open a New York store and work on high end dresses because Sienna wants to experiment with luxury fabrics.

Sienna explained: “We’d love to do maybe five couture dresses a year – just to have access to those fabrics. And we’d love to open a store in New York. But frankly, we’re really comfortable with where the label’s got to now.”

However, despite their aspirations, Sienna admitted it is more important to develop strong sales and so revealed they decided not to show their label at London Fashion Week recently, instead arranging private appointments with influential fashion insiders.

She told WWD: “We love doing shows, but because we’re not breaking the mold in what we do design wise it’s not particularly translating to sales. And the more important thing for us is sales at the moment, especially in this economy.”

Petra Nemcova’s “heart was broken” by footage of the tsunami in Japan.

By Andrea Petrou on March 15th, 2011

Petra Nemcova’s “heart was broken” by footage of the tsunami in Japan.

The supermodel – who survived the Indian Ocean disaster which struck Thailand in 2004 and killed her then-fiance photographer Simon Atlee – spoke of her grief at replaying the memories of her own personal tragedy as the same event unfolded last week.

She said: “To see them [the video and pictures] on Friday (11.03.11) morning was horrifying. My heart was broken.

“My love was going to everyone in Japan. It is something so hard to imagine without going through. When a natural disaster happens it’s amazing to see the unconditional love coming from every direction.”

The 31-year-old beauty – who used to date James Blunt and is now engaged to British actor Jamie Belman – also opened up about her own fight for life, recounting the day she held on to a tree as Simon was swept away.

She explained on Good Morning America: “You feel powerless, the more you fight, the more you lose energy and the chance for survival.

“The best thing you can do is try to stay calm. That can save your life.”

The star will take part in the 12th series of ‘Dancing with the Stars’ alongside Kendra Wilkinson, Kirstie Alley and former boxing champion Sugar Ray Leonard.

Abbey Clancy gives birth to a baby girl

By Andrea Petrou on March 15th, 2011

Abbey Clancy has given birth to a baby girl.

The 25-year-old model and her soccer star fiance Peter Crouch became parents for the first time last night and are thrilled with their new arrival.

A source said: “Mother and daughter are doing brilliantly.

“Abbey and Peter are over the moon. They haven’t picked a name yet, but they are completely in love with her.”

The baby weighed in at 7lbs 9oz.

Peter, 30, is said to be looking forward to celebrating his daughter’s birth with his Tottenham Hotspur teammates.

One pal said: “The Spurs boys have been texting him congratulations – and promising to help him wet the baby’s head.”

Abbey – who has been in a relationship with Peter for five years and got engaged almost two years ago – is likely to be surprised by the gender of the infant as she previously admitted she thought she was carrying a boy.

She said soon after confirming her pregnancy: “I think it’s a boy from looking at the scans… it’s too boisterous to be a girl.”

The couple are thought to be planning to marry this summer.

Miranda Kerr says Rosehip oil is a handbag essential

By Andrea Petrou on March 15th, 2011

Miranda Kerr counts Rosehip oil as one of the essential products every woman should keep in their handbag.

The Australian model finds the essential oil is particularly useful as a make-up remover and that it can also be a useful tool to protect against the effects of exposure to the sun and ageing.

Writing on her blog for KORA Orangics.com, she said: “Essential Fatty Acids main function is their ability to counteract the drying effects of sun exposure and other environmental influences that lead to signs of aging and age related skin damage.

“This is without a doubt, a product that every woman should have in her handbag and one that I will continue to use throughout my life.

“I use this under my moisturiser of an evening and as a makeup remover around my eyes. I also use it more frequently if my skin is particularly dry at any time.”

Miranda – who is married to Hollywood hunk Orlando Bloom – endorses a brand of Rosehip oil through her KORA Organics range, which she says has a particular blend of ingredients designed to give the optimum care for skin.

The mother-of-one added: “KORA Organics Luxurious Rosehip Oil is a carefully blended powerful Treatment Oil combining Noni Extract, Organic Rosehip, Jasmine, Rose and Pomegranate Oils.

“The combination of these additional Essential Oils work synergistically with the Rosehip Oil to provide a rich source of anti-oxidants and Essential Fatty Acids for the skin.

“We will also always represent the true season changes of the natural and organic ingredients and raw materials used in every product whilst maintaining the nutritional integrity of each ingredient and every product.”
