This week stars have been out in full force, showcasing their latest films and frocks at the Tribecca Film Festival 2011.
Eva Mendes made an appearance at the premier of Last night in a stunning red chiffon floaty dress, while Rachel Roy gave a huge nod to the pastel trend in pink trousers and a pale blue top.
Julia Roberts donned her trademark suit look for the premier of Jesus Henry Christ and Sharon Osbourne followed with this trend at the God Bless Ozzy Osbourne. She was joined here by Kelly Osbourne who opted for a tight fishnet skirt and blazer, which showed off her curves.
Also showing off her amazing figure was Miranda Kerr who went for a classic shift LBD for the premier of the Good Doctor. But it wasn’t just Miranda who looked dressed to impress in an embellished white frock at the debut of hers and Karl Lagerfeld’s original film series inspired by Magnum Ice Cream.

ASOS Premium Pleated Midi-Skirt
We think this pale periwinkle skirt is one of the most deliciously feminine things we've seen in a long time. Toughen it up with a biker jacket and some fierce heels. You can find it here.
We’re going all gooey and girlie at the moment over one of Spring/Summer’s most exciting trends: the new midi-lengths, seen everywhere from the catwalks of Marc Jacobs to Prada. A look that manages to be both prim and knowingly sexy, playing up to every bloke’s “stern secretary” fantasy, this a very classy way to show off your feminine and playful side.
Autumn/Winter 2010 saw midi hemlines worn in heavy wools, camels and tweeds, but now things are getting a whole lot frothier and girlier as the high street takes inspiration from Chloe’s S/S 2011 collection, which was filled with long, floaty creations fit for a ballet dancer. Think romance and flower fairies as this season’s dresses are coming in sugary pastel colours and pleated, draped fabrics.
There have been stunning pieces from the likes of Chloe and Marchesa who’ve worked this trend for Spring, but there’s also a rich seam of beautiful midi-length gems on the high street. Asos is teeming full of them – our absolute favourite piece is their pleated midi-skirt in a pale sky blue, which can be worn with a sheer shirt to keep the look super-girlie or a leather jacket and black lace to toughen things up.
To see our favourite pieces on the high-street, check out the gallery above.

Twilight starlet Ashley Greene often trails behind co-star Kirsten Stewart when it comes to fashion, but we’ve got a not so secret style crush on this starlet.
Unlike her vampish character Ashley is a classy lady when it comes to the red carpet making shift dresses in black and white her trademark look. However, she’s also not afraid to experiment with on-trends colours such as reds and nudes often appearing in these on high profile award occasions. When she’s not deliberately in the limelight the starlet goes for a more casual look of jeans.
She’s often snapped out in her gym gear presumably after a work out or a run. We shine the spotlight on Ashley Greene.

Marchesa's sketch for their planned revamp of the legendary "Bunny Girl" costume
An unlikely marriage of two worlds is about to happen as luxury fashion house Marchesa, home to a million frills and jewels fit for a fashion princess, reveals their sketch of a one-off design of the iconic 70′s playboy bunny costume in honour of the new opening of a Playboy Club in London.
Designers Georgia Chapman and and Keren Craig are reinventing the classic bunny-girl one piece, but not as we know it – expect ruffles, jewels and (we hope) a solid-gold tail. (As I said – we hope.)
Georgia Chapman said of the label’s design for the Playboy franchise, “We’ve taken our inspiration from the original costume but added Marchesa’s signature details, such as hand draping and embroidery, while staying true to the Playboy Bunny’s classic corset silhouette. The result is a modern, yet feminine interpretation of this legendary look.”
Playboy was a suave gentleman’s lifestyle magazine back in the day (with some pretty nude bunnies thrown in for good measure) but in recent years the whole thing has become a bit, well, seedy. Can a magical sprinkling of fashion dust change the face of Playboy again? Forget the cheap pink satin and white fluffy mules of yesteryear – Hef’s girls are about to get a luxury makeover. We’re a little bit jealous, actually.

Rankin would consider breaking his no-weddings rule for Kate Moss.
While the fashion photographer has always refused to act as official photographer at weddings because he finds the pressure too great, he would step in if close pal Kate Moss – who will marry Jamie Hince in July – asked him to photograph her nuptials.
He said: “You don’t say no to Kate but she wouldn’t ask me – she’ll probably get Mario [Testino]. If she did ask though, I’d tell her to get back up as well as me. I’d be so nervous , and not just because it’s her – for anyone it’s a really special day. There’s too much pressure on it and so much stress seems to surround weddings. I always say no to photographing family weddings – I’ll always set up a studio on the day but I won’t take pictures all day. You don’t want to mess it up.”
If Rankin – who along with photographing Kate has worked with Sienna Miller, Heidi Klum and Vivienne Westwood – does decide to take pictures of Kate’s wedding he should find it easy as he revealed he learned his craft by taking pictures of family and friends.
He told vogue.co.uk “I was studying accountancy at Brighton University and I was surrounded by lots of art students when I thought I should be doing something more expressive. I was given a camera for my 21st birthday and just started taking pictures of my girlfriend and of my friends. Then I quit uni and started redoing my A-levels again. It was great.”

Selena Gomez “dressed like a boy” until she was 11.
The ‘Wizards of Waverly Place’ actress – who has her own clothing line Dream Out Loud – admitted fashion wasn’t always important to her and she didn’t really care about style when she was younger.
She explained: “I don’t think I was always striving to be a fashionista, I dressed like a boy until I was 11 but when I was 13 I got into layering and trying out my own style and I became interested in the fashion in magazines and looking up the styles of celebrities.”
Now Selena is renowned for her fashion sense and the 18-year-old star revealed her staple wardrobe items are boots and scarves.
She said: “Style to me is supposed to be fun, it’s who you are and what mood you’re in. My personal style is definitely more classic. I love flowy pieces, I love white and black, very neutral and organic.
“The fashion pieces that I have to have would be scarves and boots you can basically wear them at any time of the year. You can wear a scarf with a sundress because it’s very cute and very girly.”

Cindy Crawford is unhappy that today’s models are so much skinnier than her contemporaries.
The 45-year-old star – who was one of the original supermodels alongside Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Claudia Schiffer, and Christy Turlington – thinks being a model was much easier in her day and admitted she is happy she is not trying to compete with today’s stars.
She said: “I just saw the CoverGirl commercial with Taylor Swift and I thought, ‘Wow, it is so hard for models to get a job these days.’
“You have to sing and act, too. There doesn’t seem to be as much work specifically just for models.
“And I also think when I was modelling, size 6 (UK size 10) was a normal size and now it’s like 2 (UK size 6) or 0 (UK size 4).”
While Cindy admitted there are times when she wishes she looked the same as she did at the height of her modelling career, she says having kids Presley, 11, and Kaia, nine, with her husband Rande Gerber is much more important.
She explained to Parade magazine: “I think what really shows on your face – besides good hair colour – is if you’re happy in your life. If you’re doing work that you enjoy and that is rewarding, then as my mom always said, ‘You’d rather have smile lines than frown lines.’
“I don’t look the same as I did 20 years ago, nor should I. Sometimes I get that little pang, like ‘Oh, bummer, I wish I did’. But at the same time, I see my children and I see them growing up and I look at my husband and the marriage that we’ve worked on and have together, and if all that is good and working, it’s a lot easier to be kind to your little fine lines or where gravity’s gotten the better of you.”

Roland Mouret loves dressing Reese Witherspoon because she isn’t “pretentious” about clothes.
The French designer has worked with the Oscar-winning actress on at least four occasions and says she’s a pleasure to team up with because, despite her A-list status, she is very grounded.
He said: “We have dressed Reese four or five times before and she’s really loyal. She’s not pretentious about clothes, she just thinks they should do their job.”
In the latest edition of US Vogue, Reese appears on the cover wearing one of Roland’s creations and he says he is impressed by the 30s theme the photo has.
He told vogue.co.uk: “I was so surprised when I saw that it was on the cover. Of course we knew they may shoot the piece, but honestly I thought the cover was mostly about advertisers so it was really a surprise.”
“I loved this kind of 30s attitude she has on the cover. The depression period and the circus theme is an amazing mix. The picture has a really genuine attitude – it’s a mix of boyish beauty with extreme glamour; a really complex beauty. The top shows the kind of simple draping I was doing before the Galaxy dress mixed with more structure. I love the picture.”

Jennifer Lopez is “terrified” about the idea of working out every day for the rest of her life.
The singer-and-actress had been exercising five times a week to get her in shape for a music video but says she would never want to always be that dedicated as it can take over everything.
Speaking ahead of the shoot, Jennifer said: “It’s not always like this though. The thought of working out every day for the rest of my life terrifies me.”
The 41-year-old beauty also said she has a different attitude to her body since getting older and becoming a mother to her three-year-old twins, Max and Emme.
She told Stylist magazine: “Having the twins changed my body. It feels different on the inside as well as the outside. The texture of my muscles has even changed.
“I feel like I’ve hit my stride in my 40s. In my 20s I knew nothing about taking care of my body but now I’m 41, I feel like this is the age. I think women are looking after themselves more than ever. And we’re also not allowing people to write us off either.”

Madonna shows off her tough-girl roots in this 1983 shoot, weating fierce leatherette cuffs, crucifix earrings and masculine braces
We’re still trawling through the past few decades in search of our very favourite style icons – last time we took a trip in NYC in New York to check out Blondie’s style, and before that way back into the 60′s to look at the style of Warhol star and it-girl Edie Sedgwick. Well, today we’re fast-forwarding a little to the early eighties to look at the early style of one of pop culture’s most infamous women – Madonna.
Fan or not, I defy anyone to not fall in love with Madonna’s mish-mash, over-the-top style which pretty much defined the 80s for hundreds of thousands of teenage girls. She may be scary and muscly now, but back in the day she was a sheer phenomenon, the girl that everyone wanted to be.
From her infamous conical bras, designed by Jean-Paul Gaultier, to her wide-brimmed witchy hats, chunky silver jewellery, headscarves and huge ghetto fabulous earrings, Madonna has had a million amazing looks. Her style, it seems, is having a bit of a revival right now. Sheer lace crop tops? Crucifix earrings? Aztec-inspired prints? Topshop may be churning those out now, but Madonna wore them first in Desperately Seeking Susan (a film in which she basically played herself. And how!)
It’s definitely not a look for the faint-hearted, but isn’t it boring to play it safe sometimes? Take heart from the likes of Giles Deacon and Henry Holland, two of Britain’s finest designers, whose designs Madonna would have been in raptures over in the 80s. The great thing about Madonna’s style was that absolutely anything goes. Colour, print, masses of jewellery – if you’re feeling brave just shove it all together for a look that’s pure vintage Madge. Check out our gallery above to get her look.

Vanessa as the face of Chanel Rouge COCO lipstick
When it comes to making or breaking a star’s fashion legacy, Chanel mastermind Karl Lagerfeld is the man who makes it happen. A true fashion phenomenon throughout the world- who couldn’t recognise that snow-haired, be-gloved satorialist from a hundred paces? – he has a gift for plucking out actresses, singers and models from modest, slightly obscure fame and launching them into fashion superstardom.
We’ve all seen Keira Knightley’s flawless pout as the face of Coco Madamoiselle, and Lily Allen’s performance, clad head-to-toe in Chanel, smack-bang in the middle of a catwalk. Most recently to become an ambassador for France’s chicest fashion house is Blake Lively, who’s just had a handbag designed in her name. Bloody cow. We all want what these girls have got – so what is it that makes these women a Chanel girl? That’s what ShinyStyle wants to find out.
Today we’re starting with Parisian popstrel Vanessa Paradis, the current face of Chanel Rouge COCO lipsticks and long-time sweetheart of Johnny Depp. With her adorable unabashed gappy smile, razor-sharp cheekbones and effortless French style, we have such a girl-crush on the Joe Le Taxi singer. Karl loves her so much that he uses her endlessly for fashion stories and has even produced Chanel-branded lip-shaped badges in celebration of her famous gap-teeth.
Looking through some of our absolute favourite Paradis moments, it’s obvious to us why Kaiser Karl has such an admiration for her style. Never try-hard or over-the-top but always gloriously elegant, whether she’s wearing a tux jacket and jeans or a decadent evening look, she looks like a true Parisian woman all the time. Plus, the girl looks GREAT in Chanel – who could be a better ambassador? Check out our gallery for some of Vanessa’s best looks.
