It always makes me happy when I discover a new online store stocking designers I’ve never heard of before (I always feel mildly depressed and disappointed in myself when I limit my shopping options to Asos and Topshop), so it was a massive “Yay!” moment for me yesterday when I stumbled across NASTYGAL.com yesterday. Besides a steady stock of old favourites such as Cheap Monday and Lazy Oaf, there’s also a veritable array of new labels available to please any adventurous dresser and fashion-lover.
The big plus point for me is that the online store has an amazing shoe section which sells more Jeffrey Campbell shoes – one of my favourite shoe designers at the moment – than you could shake a stick at. There are so many on-trend shoes there perfect for referencing vintage and 1970s trends; plenty of chunky platforms, tan leather mixed with sizzling neons and pretty candy colours. It’s enough to make a shoe lover weep.
If you want a few interesting pieces for your summer/wardrobe I’d seriously recommend NastyGal for its’ cool selection of printed sundresses, grunge-inspired crop tops and hot-pants. Yes, it is based in California and you’ll have to pay extra for postage, but if you’ve got a little extra money to burn I think it’s worth it for the enviably cool American wardrobe you’ll be sporting.
Check out the gallery above for just some of our favourite pieces from NastyGal – I wanted to choose it all.

I’m in kind of a silly mood today so I’m going to take a look back at the works of one of fashion’s more out-there designers: Jeremy Scott, a label which combines a glorious blend of grotesque cartoon imagery with horror references and splashes of zinging colour. If you’re a fellow lover of kitschy bad taste like I am then J-Scott is probably a designer that’d be right up your alley.
I love Jeremy Scott’s designs because they’re a big, glittery scream-in-your-face departure from the austerity and seriousness of Fashion Week. The likes of Chanel, Versace, Dior and co will always be special and inspirational to me, but Jeremy Scott’s collections are somewhere between a cheesy 80s horror movie and an episode of The Flintstones, and I’m afraid that when my good and bad tastes do battle, the bad tastes always win. I know that I’m not alone in this – Katy Perry and Rihanna love him too.
In the gallery above are some early examples of Jeremy Scott’s work along with his more recent, ridiculous collections featuring the likes of Pixie Geldof on the catwalk. Check out our favourite Jez moments and let us know whether you’re a lover of his work or a hater.

Alessandra Facchinetti has been the creative brains behind both Gucci and Valentino
Lovers of high fashion everywhere will be excited to hear about Alessandra Facchinetti, ex-creative director of both Gucci and Valentino, launching a new fashion label in collaboration with Pinko called “Uniqueness”. Alessandra promises us interesting and creative new concepts that aren’t produced within the traditional season divide of Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter.
Alessandra says of her new brainchild, “I’m excited to have the chance to work on such an innovative and unconventional project, where the freedom to interpret the times effectively becomes the brand’s DNA.” We’re excited too, Al!
The designer certainly has all the right fashion credentials to start anew with a completely new label. Facchinetti has not only been creative director for two of Europe’s most legendary fashion houses, Gucci and Valentino, but also got one of the best career kick-starts ever when she got her first break working at Miu Miu. So, she’s more than qualified for this new project, no?
The first “Uniqueness” collection is tipped to be shown in Paris soon – keep an eye out. We can’t wait to see what Alessandra comes up with.

Victoria Beckham says her new collection is her “girliest” yet.
The singer-turned-fashion designer says her new Victoria by Victoria Beckham range – which will retail at around $550 to $900 – features the “perfect” summer dresses that she herself has always been looking for.
Victoria – who is due to give birth to her fourth child, a daughter, next month – said: “One of my team said, ‘It would be funny if you found out you were having a girl.’ Because this is the most girly collection I’ve ever created.”
“These are the kind of dresses I’ve been searching for. The perfect little summer dress, something that was fun, something that was girly, something that was easy to wear, something that would take you from day through the night.”
The collection – inspired by cartoon character Emily The Strange – features looser silhouettes, brighter shades and quirky prints and Victoria believes the dresses will appeal to women of all ages.
She added in an interview with WWD: “Where I am currently, I like a more modern attitude.
“Also, it means that I’m opening these designs to women and girls of all different shapes and sizes, people who maybe want something less tight and clingy and structured. It also makes it more comfortable for during the day. You can wear them with a pair of flats or a pair of heels and they look great.”

Charlize Theron thinks marriage is a “divine right” but does not want to wed herself.
The Oscar winning ‘Monster’ actress is pleased about a vote in New York which allows same sex couples to marry, she’s doesn’t believe the US government is doing enough, as it is still banned in most states.
She said: “It’s a divine right and when government starts to tell us who can love and what is good love, I do have a problem with that.
“I have a problem with the fact that our government hasn’t stepped up enough to make this federal, to make this legal.”
South Africa born Charlize – who split with long term partner Stuart Townsend last year – enjoys being in a secure, long term relationship but personally sees no reason to have a marriage ceremony for herself.
Speaking on TV show ‘Piers Morgan Tonight’, she added: “I really want for myself a long-term relationship. And I have been in long-term relationships.
“That’s the kind of union that I want. The actual ceremony is not something that is important to me—but I see the importance for other people.”

Dannii Minogue thinks more dresses need to “flatter” arms.
The Australian star works on her own fashion line Project D with friend Tabitha Somerset Webb, and although she has no technical experience, the sexy singer does believe she knows what works to help women feel their best.
She said: “I have worn dresses in the glare of public scrutiny. I know how a great dress needs to work.
“I want to know, for example, what is it with designers and sleeves? Why is it so hard to buy a dress that flatters your arms?”
However, the 39-year-old star admit she was not completely confident when she decided to wear a Project D dress on the UK version of ‘The X Factor’ for the first time because she had only just given birth to first baby Ethan with British hunk Kris Smith.
She told Grazia magazine: “The first time I wore Project D on the show I was so nervous. It was the Jingle dress – fitted, knee-length, full skirt – very ‘Mad Men’.
“I’d only just had a baby and had completely changed shape. I felt so insecure.”

Jessica Alba uses sunscreen everyday to keep her skin glowing.
The stunning actress – who is currently pregnant with her second child – says her beauty routine is very simple but it has always worked for her.
She told StyleList.com: “My mother always told me to wash my face every night, wear sunscreen during the day and drink plenty of water. It’s simple but I like to think that it works for me.
“I like sunscreen that’s not too heavy so I use my daughter’s California Baby.”
Another family trick Jessica swears by is to use her lipstick on her cheeks, saying: “Before there was cream blush, my grandmother would apply lipstick on her lips, cheeks and eyes. I still do that today.”
Jessica has previously revealed her mother used to practice her make-up applying skills on her because she was training to be a beautician.
Jessica said: “She was going to cosmetology school and she needed a model to practice on! It was for the swim team picture – full on winged eyeliner, the works.”
The 30-year-old beauty has also admitted she can put her look together in five minutes after learning to adjust her regime since becoming a mother three years ago.
She said: “My beauty regime has changed so much since becoming a mother.
“I’ve learnt to multitask and throw my look together in five minutes. I love make-up that I can apply with my finger tips, as it saves time.”

Megan Fox believes treating herself on the weekend is the secret to her stunning figure.
The beautiful actress – who is often voted one of the world’s most sexiest women – recently gained 4lbs and sources say she’s happier than ever because she’s got some of her curves back.
One told Now magazine: “Megan’s relaxed her strict diet and has been treating herself at the weekends. On weekdays she sticks to protein with salad and veg.”
As well as following a healthy diet, Megan also works out with husband Brian Austin Greene.
The source added: “He’s always worked out – and he got Meg into it. She does cardio and weights twice weekly but focuses on yoga and Pilates, which she loves.”
While Megan, 25, is happy with her body, she has previously admitted she hates showing it off by wearing attention-seeking clothes
She said: “If you wear anything interesting, you become instantly noticeable. I have this gorgeous Dolce and Gabbana white trench coat for winter, but I can’t wear it without drawing attention to myself. And I try to hide. I want to be unseen.”

Lady Gaga has branded claims she tried to profit from her charity wristbands as “misguided”.
The ‘Edge of Glory’ singer is being sued for $5 million after being accused of deliberately inflating the cost of shipping and handling of the ‘We Pray for Japan’ bracelets – which were being sold for $5, plus $3.99 for shipping and handling, and 60 cents for taxes – in order to profit from the charitable venture, which was initiated to raise money for the victims of the Japanese earthquake and tsunami, but she has now hit back at the allegations.
Her spokesman said: “This misguided lawsuit is without merit and unfortunately takes attention away from the kind deeds of the fans around the world who are supporting the people of Japan.
“The entire $5 donation made with the purchase of each bracelet is going to support the disaster relief. No profit is being made on shipping costs. Sales tax charges were made in accordance with local legal requirements.
“Lady Gaga has personally pledged her own funds to this cause and continues to support the victims of the disaster.”
Ari Kresch, an attorney witha Michigan-based law firm had previously said: “I’m suing Lady Gaga simply to hold her accountable for giving the money that she was raising for charity to the cause that she was trying to raise it for.”

Karl Lagerfeld’s favourite shop is Colette in Paris.
The Chanel designer – who was born in Hamburg, Germany, but now spends most of his time in the French capital – loves the city for its shopping opportunities, especially the department store renowned for its trendy clothing.
He said: “My favourite shop is Colette on Rue Saint-Honore. For jewellery I go to Lydia Courteille on Rue Saint-Honore and for books Galignani on Rue De Rivoli. For clothes I shop at Dior Homme.”
The 77-year-old sartorialist has a particular affinity with Paris – renowned as one of the world’s most fashionable cities – and thinks it is incomparable to any other place on the globe.
He added to Stylist magazine: “In Paris I walk in the streets like peasants walk in the village where they are born. There is something in the air.
“Who doesn’t love Paris? You cannot compare it to any other city. Don’t ask me why but that is the way it is. I have houses in the south of France, Vermont and Monte Carlo but I never go there. I like houses for the sake of having houses, but in Paris I am most at ease.”
Despite his love of spending money on expensive homes and clothes, Karl recently professed to thinking design can be good even if it is done cheaply.
He said: “Sure, high fashion can expensive because of the materials and the level of craftsmanship, but design should be good on every price level – and that’s what the high street does so well. Today, you don’t have to have loads of money to be well dressed.”

Emma Watson found it “completely different” to do her own make-up and choose her own clothes when she posed for a series of paintings.
The ‘Harry Potter’ actress worked with artist Mark Demsteader on the new exhibition which will benefit the African charity CAMFED and Emma admitted being on such a low-key set where didn’t have a team of stylists and make-up professionals was a strange experience.
She told vogue.co.uk: “As it takes Mark several months to create the pieces, he finds it easier to work from photographs so I met him and a photographer for a day’s photo shoot in north London back in January. It was a really simple shoot with just a single light to cast shadows. We took lots of pictures in a variety of poses and Mark went away and selected 30 or so to turn into paintings.
“Whilst I didn’t sit for Mark as such, it was a completely different photo shoot to anything I’ve ever done before. It was really low-key – I did my own makeup and just brought a selection of very simple dresses for the silhouette. Mark did the lighting.” Although Emma is thrilled with the results, she was initially hesitant about taking part.
She explained: “I haven’t really bought any art yet, even though I love it. So I contacted Mark about buying a drawing as a present to myself for my 21st birthday. When I emailed him he asked if I would let him paint me, and that was how the exhibition came about. I was slightly hesitant at first, not because I didn’t want to work with Mark, but simply because I wasn’t sure if I was comfortable with an entire exhibition of pictures of me!”
