Madonna’s Material Girl is launching a beauty collection.
The fashion label – which the singer designs with her 14-year-old daughter Lourdes – will expand to include a range of nail polish, lipgloss, body sprays and lotions in Macy’s New York next month with eye-shadows following in September and Lourdes loves choosing her favourite products.
She explained to WWD: “It was so much fun getting to pick all of my favourite scents for the Material Girl body products and lip glosses. The body products have fun names like Wicked Watermelon, Flirty Fruit, Midnight Magnolia and Sinful Sugar. I chose scents that I loved.”
Lanie List, chief merchandising officer at Iconix Brand Group – who have partnered with Material Girl on the collection – revealed Lourdes has a “very sophisticated eye” but all choices have to be approved by her mother.
She said: “Lola is 14 but she lives in New York City and has a very famous mom, so she has a very sophisticated eye. Lola is here once a month and sometimes more. She brings stuff from her own closet for inspiration. For the bath and body products she probably had 100 scents in front of her. She has a very mature approach to product development.
“Madonna definitely has creative input also. It’s a collaboration between the two. If Lola goes to a place with an idea that Madonna doesn’t think is appropriate for the brand, she’ll veto it. She’s a branding expert.”

Gwen Stefani is teaming up with Target to create an affordable range of clothes for babies, children and young teenagers.
The No Doubt singer – who already has her own fashion range L.A.M.B. – will work on the collection, entitled Harajuku Mini, with the budget store, which will be a spin-off of her successful Harajuku Lovers young contemporary apparel and accessories collection and Harajuku Lovers fragrance.
She told WWD: “Harajuku Mini is a dream come true. I’ve always wanted to do a cool children’s fashion line inspired by the supercute and playful kid’s clothing you find in Japan. The whole idea is about being creative, expressing your own individuality and having fun getting dressed. Target has given me the creative freedom to design kid’s clothing that is different than most anything you usually see out there with great quality, attention to detail and most of all, available at amazing prices.”
Trish Adams, senior vice president of apparel and accessories for Target said: “Gwen is a creative force and her ability to create fun, wearable fashion made her an ideal partner for Target.”
Prices for Harajuku Mini for Target – which will be launched in two phases, one in November and the next in January – range from $3.99 to $29.99.

Daisy Lowe is one model that makes us sit up and take notice.
The rock chick, also famous for her DJ-ing, is not afraid to showcase her own style when she’s not parading on the catwalk for the likes of Jean-Paul Gaultier and Pam Hogg.
She’s often snapped wearing a range of different fashions from crochet to stripes. She’s also a fan of the punk trend as well as the crop top look that’s super hot at the moment.
When it comes to designers she’s a fan of Miu Miu as well as of Jean-Paul Gaultier often spotted in statement bustier dresses and floral heels.

Cheryl Cole has called off her reconciliation with ex-husband Ashley Cole.
The ‘Parachute’ hitmaker has reportedly cancelled immediate plans with the soccer player and ordered him to delete her phone number following claims made by flight attendant Kerry Meades claimed to have slept with the sportsman in Los Angeles last month, just days before he flew back to the UK to seal his reunion with Cheryl at her 28th birthday party.
A source said: “Once again Ashley appears to have outdone himself. Just as Cheryl’s getting back on track … he does this. She is humiliated.
“Ashley had organised a family gathering, a barbecue, for when he got back from pre-season training in the Far East. This has now been scrapped. Cheryl told him on the phone yesterday that clearly Ashley isn’t yet ready to be a committed family man. At one point they had a blazing row and Cheryl basically said she was through with him and told Ashley to delete her number and leave her alone.”
However, the Girls Aloud star hasn’t completely turned her back on Ashley – who she originally dumped following revelations he cheated on her with several women during their marriage – and there is a possibility she will agree to take him back again.
The insider added to the Daily Mirror newspaper: “Cheryl is determined to keep her head down now and focus on work. What will be with Ashley will be. But it can wait.
“Although, in his defence, they weren’t officially back together when he had this fling so technically they were free agents then.”
Kerry – who first met Ashley in 2004 – says he showed no signs of wanting Cheryl back when they slept together and urged the pop beauty to dump him for good.
She said: “The whole time I was with him, he acted like a single man. When he cut off contact with me, I knew I had been dumped. It made me feel used and dirty, like I was a piece of meat.
“I don’t think Ashley has any idea how to be faithful to a woman and I am certain that he will never change. I feel sorry for Cheryl. I would leave him now before it is too late.”

Nicole Scherzinger and Lewis Hamilton are reportedly engaged.
The ‘X Factor’ judge and the Formula One driver – who have been dating on and off for the past four years – are set to marry after Lewis popped the question, according to Nicole’s father.
Alfonso Valiente – who split from Nicole’s mother Rosemary when she was six but remains close to his daughter – told the Mail on Sunday newspaper: “You know about the proposal? Yes they are engaged.
“My future son-in-law is a really nice guy, really down-to-earth.
My family all like him. The good spirit is there.”
Alfonso, 52, says he first met Lewis last year after the couple spent a week with him and his family on the Hawaiian island of Oahu and the sportsman left a good impression.
He said: “When he walked into the house for the first time he picked up one of the babies. That went down very well.
“He is sincere and he and my daughter seem genuinely happy together. Lewis is a really good guy. When they came to visit, we hired them a Jeep because he had never driven one before.”
While a spokesman for 25-year-old Lewis refused to confirm their engagement, Nicole recently revealed how she wants to settle down and have children.
The 32-year-old singer said: “Do I see us getting married and having children? My head says yeah, but I’m really focused on my music now and I think that will come in time.
“I think I’ll be really strict like my momma, maybe even worse. I won’t let my children out of the house! I’ll make them listen to classical music.”

Dior without John Galliano has been compared to an orchestra without a conductor.
The troubled designer was fired as the label’s creative director in March after a video showed him apparently drunk, telling a woman in a cafe he “loved Hitler” and while the company is coping without a successor for now, LVMH chairman Bernard Arnault, who also runs Dior, believes they need to appoint someone new soon.
He said: “I think we have the equivalent of the Vienna Philharmonic. From time to time, the Vienna Philharmonic could play without a conductor because they are so good. But that cannot last forever. We want to [make] the best choice for the house and find the best conductor.”
CEO Sidney Toledano revealed the company is looking for a replacement but want to ensure they make the perfect choice although he did praise the label’s “technical people” for their hard work.
He said: “A lot of schools produce designers but the technical people – this is what we have to protect. They work very hard here, and they live outside of Paris. They are not living like the designer. They are simple people. Some of them have a difficult life. They have their feet on the ground. They’re sustaining the house.”

Taylor Swift’s fragrance Wonderstruck was inspired by falling in love.
The pop star has collaborated with Elizabeth Arden to create her first perfume and Taylor revealed the name came from her song ‘Enchanted’ about meeting a special someone.
She told WWD: “I share personal life experiences through my music, and my fragrance will allow me to share these experiences with my fans in a completely different and new way. Falling in love is a moment every girl daydreams about and Wonderstruck represents that magical feeling of promise and hope and intrigue. It was fascinating to learn that you can layer so many different scents to create a beautiful end result.”
The new scent -which will be rolled out worldwide over two years starting in September – features freesia, green tea, apple blossom, raspberry and dewberry and Taylor likened choosing the scent to planning an album launch.
She said: “Writing songs is a process unlike anything else, and I’ll never experience anything like it. However, coming up with ideas for this fragrance and the packaging and message of it reminded me of what it’s like to plan an album launch.
“You come up with a theme that represents all these tiny moving parts, a sum of all the planning and creating. Then it goes out into the world and becomes a part of people’s daily lives.”

Karl Lagerfeld loves using feathers in his designs.
The Chanel designer is a huge fan of the plumage of birds including ostriches, peacocks and cockerals and most recently used them to add lightness to his collection of cocktail dresses, where he had feathers painstakingly embroidered into the fragile fabric of the clothes.
He told Britain’s Grazia magazine: “They are more flattering than fur, I think. And I love the way they soften a line.”
Although Karl usually communicates by fax machine, he admitted he has had to turn to more modern ideas to run his business because no one else has a fax anymore.
On swapping his old method for an iPhone, he explained “That is obsolete now, people don’t have them anymore. So I need to learn this thing.
“I relented when Colette issued an iPhone case with a silhouette of me on it. How could I not have that.”

Can’t say I am or will ever be the biggest fan of US socialite Paris Hilton. But I will happily admit that she does look good, Gaga good, in the current ‘Transformation’ issue of V magazine.

Hilton poses for the US magazine in a S&M themed editorial piece and looks almost unrecognisable with heavily made up eyes and a dramatic, blunt hair style (there must be some extensions in there too!)
Thigh-high lace-up boots and corsets make up the bondage-inspired outfits that are completed with leather trenches on her slender frame.
In the words of Paris: That’s really hot.

Stylist and presenter Grace Woodward is perhaps most known outside the fashion circuit for her role as a judge on Britain & Ireland’s Next Top Model where she happily shares her opinions – at times quite harsh – to the hopeful wannabe models.
Often seen on ‘Hot Lists’ Grace definitely has an eye for what looks good, and despite a couple of fashion hiccups along the way, she is pretty cool most of the time. Grace’s celebrity clientele includes La Roux, Florence and the Machine, Green Day and Pharrell Williams.
