Amy Childs is evicted from The Celebrity Big Brother House 2011, Elstree Studios, Borehamwood, Hertfordshire.

Paddy Doherty has won Celebrity Big Brother. The Big Fat Gypsy Weddings star beat runner-up Kerry Katona and third place Jedward – who had been favourites to win the Channel 5 fly-on-the-wall show – to be crowned champion of the series.

He said: “I want to say thank you to English, Irish, Welsh and Scottish voters. God bless every one of you. I swear to God, I swear on my life, I thought I would be out after one week.

“I never thought I would get this far. I had no game plan, I was just myself. I am me and that’s it.”

However, Paddy admitted he was “surprised” at how well the group accepted him in to their fold, as he felt like a “fish out of water”.

He added to Big Brother host Brian Dowling: “I was in a goldfish bowl, I was with people who have millions. I’m not used to mixing with people like that, I was a fish out of water. It surprised me how well a traveller could fit in, those people are tremendous.”

But the reality TV star confessed although he loved his time in the infamous house, he could have “drowned” Jedward at times.

Paddy joked: “Jedward are a pair of sausages. It was a nightmare living with them, I wanted to pick them up and drown them.”

Meanwhile, emotional runner-up Kerry – who has battled drug addiction, two divorces and bankruptcy in the past – thanked the British public for giving her the chance to right her previous wrongs.

She explained: “In the whole of my celebrity career, I never thought I’d get the chance to put the wrong right. This show has let me do that.

“My eldest daughter is 10 and I want to make her proud of me and do the right thing. A massive thank you to everyone who voted for me, not just for me but for my babies.

“I made some solid friends in there. Paddy and Darryn will be friends for life. Paddy gave me so much advice, and said, ‘Leave your past at the door’. I’ve been through it all, I’ve written the book, I’ve got the t-shirt.”

Big Brother launches with 14 new housemates tomorrow night (09.09.11) at 9.30pm on Channel 5, with the contestants set to be welcomed in to the house by former Baywatch babe Pamela Anderson.

She said: “I’m going to give them the ride of their lives. I’m going to leave a skid mark on every one of them.”

New York Fashion Week: Steven Alan S/S 2012

By emilyborrett on September 8th, 2011

Steven Alan Spring/Summer 2012

Picture 1 of 13

If Rachel Comey’s show was all about city-slicker vibes then Steven Alan’s Spring/Summer collection transported us back to the summer again with his array of simplistic, sugary designs.

The collection was very evocative of long summer evening and idyllic childhoods as the womenswear was mainly comprised of floaty sun-dresses and simple, sugar-coloured separate pieces teamed with straw hats and ladylike purses. It very much reminded us of dressing up in our mum’s summer dresses when we were little for a grand day out, which is quite a nice memory, really. Teddy bear’s picnic, anyone?

Much like Rachel Comey’s work, Steven Alan’s designs have a nostalgic, romantic air about them while still managing to be modern at the same time. This collection is going to be one of our favourites when it comes to planning next summer’s wardrobes – we can already tell. Alan’s ice-blue chinos are gong on my fashion wishlist right now.

Check out the gallery to see the highlights from Steven Alan’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection.

New York Fashion Week: Rachel Comey S/S 2012

Rachel Comey Spring/Summer 2012

New York Fashion Week has begun! Thank god! We’ve been floating around in fashion limbo for ages now and finally we have something obsess over again – the new Spring/Summer collections. The big names aren’t showing til later in the week, but the week has gone off to a nice start already with some up-and-coming designers. Today we’re looking at Rachel Comey’s new collection.

I have to say that I’ve never really paid much attention to Comey’s work before, but I am definitely impressed by her new Spring/Summer collection. It’s an urban, sleek collection of casual dresses and separates spanning from draped, girlish prints, slouchy jersey T-shirts, modern sunglasses and masculine tailored pieces. I’ve always been more of a lover of decadent, ridiculous avant-garde fashion, but Comey may have just convinced me of the beauty in simplicity. There is nothing contrived or affected about any of the pieces on the collection – it is simply effortless.

The whole vibe of the collection was free-spirited and girlish without losing it’s city-living edge. Sweet floral shorts were teamed with tough sunglasses andpeppermint-coloured tailored shorts were worn with masculine Breton  turtlenecks to create a clever balance between hard and soft.

As I said, I haven’t seen much of Rachel Comey’s work – but I like what I see. This girl is gonna be big.

Spotted: Sarah Jessica Parker, Marion Cotillard and Poppy Delevigne

By emilyborrett on September 8th, 2011

SJP visited the Late Show studios in NYC wearing a bold colour-blocked outfit of scarlet and pink. What a clever girl

As the Film Festivals and premières continue, we’re seeing an awful lot of sweet red-carpet and party looks.

Sarah Jessica Parker is firmly back on our style radar as we spotted her in New York City outside the studios for David Letterman’s “Late Show” – and she’s succeeded in the art-of colour blocking where Cheryl Cole had previously failed, teaming a scarlet blouse with high-waisted magenta trousers. Sound horrible? Maybe, but it really works. SJP 4eva.

At the premiere for the new film Contagion, the French actress Marion Cotillard looked dazzlingly beautiful with a braided up-do, smoky eye make-up and a floor-length sheer layered black gown. A beautiful red-carpet look.

Meanwhile, in London the legendary Italian fashion house Missoni were throwing a big party for the launch of a new pop-up store – and plenty of celebrities were out to show their love for the iconic knitwear company. Poppy Delevigne worked a bohemian, rock and roll look in a sleeveless leather jacket with a floaty blouse and denim hot-pants while the supermodel Doutzen Kroes naughtily broke the Missoni dress code in a clinging black Stella McCartney dress.

The true star of the Missoni party, however, was Elizabeth  Olsen, the little sister of fashion’s favourite twins. She looked cute as a button in a Missoni-knit black shift dress with a white collar for a retro look. Is she going to overtake Ashley and Mary-Kate in the style stakes? Watch this space..

Galliano is found guilty of making racist remarks in court today

By emilyborrett on September 8th, 2011

Well, the verdict is in – John Galliano has been found guilty in court today of making anti-Semitic remarks in a Paris cafe in February.

The sentencing is a little better than expected – there was a possibility of the troubled designer serving 6 months in prison, but instead is paying a fine of €17,500, less than the maximum penalty for racist remarks in France.

Since making anti-Jewish remarks on film in a Parisian cafe in February, Galliano has been sacked from his position of creative director at Christian Dior and dropped from his self-titled line as well. Many celebrities and important figures of the fashion industry have since cut ties with Galliano – the actress Natalie Portman, who is Jewish herself and previously has been the face of Dior perfume, said she was “deeply shocked and disgusted” by the remarks.

Basically, nobody knows what is going to happen to Galliano next. Will the industry ever forgive the designer for his prejudiced remarks? Only time will tell.

Rosie Huntington-Whitely says it takes “dedication” to become a good model

By emilyborrett on September 8th, 2011

Rosie Huntington-Whitely has spoken out about exactly what it takes to have a successful career in modelling.

Rosie, who’s probably every man in the world’s dream girl at the moment, is fast becoming one of our generation’s most loved models and a successful Hollywood actress with a leading role in the new Transformers movie. So it’s fair to say that Miss Rosie knows a thing or two about a successful modelling career.

Her advice to any aspiring young models? “It takes hard work, determination and the ability to pick yourself up and try again when things go wrong. I advise you to get a reputable team around you, too. And always trust your gut feeling.” In addition to Rosie’s recommendations, we also recommend swishy hair, a bee-sting pout and legs like a baby giraffe’s. That seems to be quite important too.

Rosie’s support “team” is her mum, who she attributes for her success and drive as a young model. She told Britain’s ELLE magazine: “My mother inspires me. She’s been the driving force behind me the whole way and I strive to make her proud. I’m always drawn to women who are strong, independent, individual, who have an air of mystery about them and who aren’t afraid of their sexuality.”

Roland Mouret refuses to have a muse for his designs

By emilyborrett on September 8th, 2011

The fashion designer Roland Mouret has revealed that he refuses to take a muse as inspiration for his designs, as he prefers to be inspired by a variety of different women at once.

His celebrity fans will be weeping into their designer hankies at this news. I bet Victoria Beckham and Kate Middleton are dying to take up permanent residence as a Roland Mouret muse, but the designer says this will never happen.

He told vogue.co.uk: “I design for any woman. I don’t like muses, if you have a muse you put someone on a pedestal. I prefer seeing women as they are, I design for women who enjoy being women.”

One woman he does take a lot of inspiration from, however, is the American Wallis Simpson for whom King Edward abdicated his throne so he could marry her in 1936. All very dramatic and romantic, no?

Mouret gushed about Wallis Simpson: “”Physically, she was very skinny – it was the person that was really attractive – her charisma; how beautiful and sad her life was. She was sexy in a painful way; a painful sexiness. The clothes she wore were austere, but sensual. It was the movement of her body that made her attractive – she was like a perfume, or the way a veil moves – like a ghost almost.”

Well Roland, if you ever change your mind about needing a muse, I can be available whenever you like. Just putting that out there..

Diane Kruger loves to experiment with style

By emilyborrett on September 8th, 2011

The actress Diane Kruger says that she likes to experiment with and change up her look a lot, because she hates how all the other women in Los Angeles look the same.

Diane, who’s previously been a Chanel muse and a model, obviously has had a lot of influence from her stints in the fashion industry.

The actress said: “I don’t have my own stylist. And I like to be a little different – in LA, everyone wears the same dresses.I think my background as a model helps, because I like experimenting and I’m not afraid of fashion or what other people think of me.”

She continued: “Sure, I’ve worn dresses people didn’t like, but I enjoy the expression of clothes. What you wear is one of the only things about yourself you can manipulate.” Testify!

Diane is one of our all-time favourite dressers so it’s good to hear her point of view on fashion. May you always be our red-carpet queen!

Designer spotlight: Jason Wu

By emilyborrett on September 7th, 2011

Jason Wu Autumn/Winter 2011

And so the Fashion Week fun begins, girls and boys, as one of our favourite fashion months of the year starts off in New York today. I don’t know about you but I’ve been waiting for the NYFW mania to begin for a while now – and while I wait with baited breath to see what the USA’s finest will come up with this season, I’m taking a look at one of the Big Apple’s best designers: Jason Wu.

Wu, who has a large celebrity following including Michelle Obama and Diane Kruger, is one of my favourite Manhattan-based designers because he simply knows how to make a girl look good. His collections may not have the over-the-top couture drama of iconic designers such as Dior and Gaultier, but they are something far more important – truly stylish, wearable designs for real women. When I imagine who Wu, in his mind, designs for it is not a madcap Isabella Blow character but the average fashion-savvy woman on the street.

His last two collections or so are particularly special to me because to me, they show that Wu has really hit his stride now as a designer and found a trademark in elegant tailoring and cocktail dresses. My dream Jason Wu piece? The slate-grey men’s coat from his Autumn/Winter 2011 collection (pictured above in the gallery) with the black lace sleeve details. Such a modern take on masculine fashion.

Take a look at my favourite Jason Wu moments in the gallery above – and keep checking back on the site for NYFW updates.

First Look: Emma Watson’s new ad campaign for Lancôme

By emilyborrett on September 7th, 2011

Emma Watson, how do we love thee? Let us count the ways.. We’re super excited because not only did she dazzle us yesterday at the GQ awards in an Alexander McQueen dress, but we’ve also just seen Emma Watson’s new campaign as the face of Lancôme Paris’ new perfume, Trésor Midnight Rose. And she looks like a dream in the advert!

The ad shows our favourite British actress flitting across city streets with her trademark cropped hair, enchanting bookstore clerks in fedora hats and sizzling at night in a mist of Midnight Rose. How very Lancôme. We’re pretty much sold on this perfume already.

You can check out the new ad in the video below – is Emma the perfect Lancôme cover girl or what? Let us know what you think of the new advert by commenting below.

Katie Price has attacked Cheryl Cole’s sense of style

By emilyborrett on September 7th, 2011

Katie Price has slagged off Cheryl Cole’s sense of style in her new magazine, “Katie”. Excuse me while I split my sides laughing. Oh goodness, where do I even begin..

The failed fashion designer, model, novelist and singer has now turned her hand to running her own magazine “Katie” – which apparently includes bitchy commentary about other celebrities, and right now Cheryl Cole is in the firing line for that colour-blocked orange and purple outfit that she wore during her brief stint as a judge for the US X Factor.

Katie furiously (ghost)wrote about Cheryl’s admittedly bad fashion choices: “The whole thing is absolutely hideous. I don’t know who’s responsible for the outfit and the horrific hair but I hope Cheryl sacked them. It looks like she’s put on weight.” Madam Price, I am sorry but you are the last person who can talk about horrific hair.

The ex page three girl also slammed Cheryl’s bandmate Nicola Roberts for her fashion choices. “She always gets it wrong. She is trying to be unique but she doesn’t have the confidence to carry it off.” Katie, you can’t carry anything off.

The whole thing is a little bit ridiculous, and the only words that came to mind when I read this gossip was “Pot. Kettle. Black.” Am I right?

Spotted at the GQ Men of the Year Awards: Lara Stone, Emma Watson and Daisy Lowe

By emilyborrett on September 7th, 2011

Emma Watson went for a tough/girlie look in a patent biker jacket with a cute full-skirted tartan dress. Such an adorable look

Picture 1 of 11
Picture 1 of 11

As well as the Mercury Music Awards, last night every smooth tuxedo’d hair gelled male celebrity in the world was present for the GQ Men of the Year Awards in London. GQ may be a magazine for men written by men, but last night at the awards it was all about the girls in attendance, who outshone the boys by miles.

The very adorable Emma Watson made an appearance to remind us exactly why she’s one of our favourite fashion icons in a full-skirted tartan dress (yes, I know it sounds disgusting but in reality it wasn’t) and a patent biker jacket and it worked so, so well. Meanwhile, the beautiful Miss Lara Stone looked leggy and bronzed in a bright tangerine mini to show off her post-summer golden glow.

The Agent Provocateur model Daisy Lowe showed up with boyfriend Matt Smith on her arm looking incredibly dramatic and gothic in a floor-length lace fishtail gown with chocolately dark hair and red lipstick. Also favouring black dresses were Pixie Lott in a one-shouldered silk cocktail dress, Jameela Jamil wore a black gown with a long chiffon train and Kylie Minogue went for an uber-sexy look in a fitted corset dress.

We’re glad to say that Leona Lewis has FINALLY stopped trying to reinvent herself as the Lady Gaga of R&B in ridiculous outfits, and yesterday looked really pretty and girl-next-door-ish in a white fringed maxi dress with scarlet lips and a red clutch purse.

Check out who wore what to the GQ Men of the Year Awards in the gallery above.

Gallery: Barclaycard Mercury Music Awards 2011, including Adele and Katy B

By emilyborrett on September 7th, 2011

Adele looked pretty and elegant in a black lace dress

Picture 1 of 7
Picture 1 of 7

Yesterday Barclaycard hosted the Mercury Music Awards at London’s Grosvenor House, and the music talent was out in full force to see who would pick up an award.

Everyone’s favourite female singer, Adele, worked her classic look of black vintage glamour in a lace collared cocktail dress with a sweeping up-do and heels. We seriously think that Adele might be one of our new favourite women ever – no one works an LBD like she does. Also working a similar look was Lauren Laverne in a cute cape-sleeved black shift dress – j’adore.

Miss Dynamite looked sexy in a 70s glamourpuss way in a ruched black clinging gown with what suspiciously looked like Nicholas Kirkwood heels – oooooh. She’s come such a long way from tracksuits and scraped-back hair, no?

Iconic female rocker PJ Harvey opted for an unusual draped white gown with dramatic smokey eye-makeup and an unusual spiky hair fascinator. We love PJ Harvey but we can’t work out if we equally love her outfit. Write YES or NO on the back of a postcard, readers… Meanwhile, Katy B showed off her hourglass figure in a cool stretchy jersey graphic-printed dress and left her red ringlets loose.

Check out the gallery above to see who we spotted at the Mercury Music Awards.

Georgia May Jagger attributes her fashion sense to her rock and roll parents

By emilyborrett on September 7th, 2011

The gap-toothed supermodel Georgia May Jagger has revealed that her superstar parents, Jerry Hall and Mick Jagger, have had a lot of influence over her fashion sense.

When it comes to inheriting vintage treasures from your parents, you’re not going to be in a much better position than Georgia, whose mum Jerry Hall was an iconic supermodel of the 70s and whose father was the frontman of the Rolling Stones.

She said: “I wear jeans every day. I like to wear them with T-shirts and boots, or when I go out with heels. I’ve inherited more of my mother’s style, I wear a lot of her clothes but my father also has a great sense of style. Mum gives me lots of stuff from her Studio 54 days, like sequined hot pants.” My mum gave me a jumper with Felix the Cat knitted on it, but whatever.

Georgia’s inherited love of style has obviously been a major influence over her career, as she’s just released her own collection of denim designs for Hudson jeans. But the model has one warning for us girls – when it comes to fashion, follow your own tastes instead of the trends. She said: “Wear what makes you feel fabulous, don’t just follow trends. Fashion is a great way to express yourself. It’s also been amazing to be given the opportunity to create my own collection with Hudson that show styles I really love.”

Adele wants to be styled by Burberry for awards season

By emilyborrett on September 7th, 2011

The singer Adele has admitted that she’s dying to have Christopher Bailey, creative director of Burberry, style her for the next upcoming awards season.

Adele is already having a major fashion moment right now, having just made the cover of UK Vogue – but we think seeing the singer decked out in Burberry would be the icing on the cake. Apparently, they’re already planning a style collaboration. Oh, to be a celebrity…

The Someone Like You singer told Vogue: “I love old school. Chanel, Prada, you know. And Burberry, definitely. I’ve met Christopher Bailey a few times. He’s definitely going to dress me for the next lot of awards – if I’m nominated. I’ve always loved Burberry. I remember saving for three years to get my first bag before I got signed. Five hundred quid, I think it was, made of canvas with the logo like a satchel.”

Okay, now I’m just gonna put something out there. Burberry, if you get bored of styling Adele, I’d also like to be styled by you for awards season. I know I won’t be invited or anything – just something beautiful to wear while I watch it on TV, really… No? Oh, okay then.
